Great review and pics!

I thought too, the bell-boy would be cool for the victorian theme. A victorian hotel might be  ;) ;) ;) ;)
With some work, maybe the maids too.  ;D

Yeah. The bellhop is the one set in this theme I'm considering getting, but I haven't seen it in the US.

thank you for the very nice review, Birdie. You seriously got me into actually considering buying this set!! At first, I wasn't so thrilled about the color, but now when I think of it, it will be good to have a seedy hotel in my little klicky town. I mean, I never noticed a hip and trendy hotel in a small town, so that won't be too big of a problem. But since I'm a student the price of the box will unfortunately be a small obstacle...

Brilliant review and photos Birdie!  Thank you for posting this.  Modern living isn't one of the themes I collect, but I really enjoyed seeing all the details of this :D  Somehow the gift shop is calling to me (damn those postcards!) - now how can I fit that into a medieval setting? lol

Just decided I will buy the extra floor tomorrow  anyone ideas on how to make it look less 'hotel ish' since it will function as an apartment for poor students....?

You could change the shop area to a sort of café or eatery.

Thanks for posting the pictures of this set. It looks massive, kind of like the hospital. I really like it though, much more than I thought I would from the catalog pictures. The additional floor is a must, IMHO.

That's actually a really good idea. Put two twin beds in each room, old-style tube TVs, mis-matched furniture, have desks in each room with laptops and open books. Leave the tile stickers off in the bathrooms so they don't look up to date. Better yet, just have one shared bathroom per floor if it can be arranged that way. No palm trees out front but instead some boring bushes.
