Post by: Giorginetto on September 04, 2011, 01:02:44
Myself , Wolf Knight and Grangel put that together for playmobil greece at the funpark. i brought in the train, tgrain station, indians confederate army and school, grangel the old style union soldiers and fort and wolf knight all the rest . its 4am in the morning so i will just post the pictures as i am really tired and returned from a wedding. the diorama has been great fun ! !more comments later !!! i will like to mention that my three customs being photoed are General Lee, J.E.B Stuart and Pickett , a small homage to the CSA  :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

wow, these are great up-close pics of all the details, George! All this must have been so much fun! Though I really don't know how you could concentrate with that fantastic giant pirate ship right next to you.

Looks fantastic! You've fit a lot into far too small of a space. There is just never enough space.

wow, very awesome!  Those clickies are standing so close together....were you ever afraid while posing them that you'd accidentally knock one over and then cause ALL of them to fall over like dominos?  (I've done that before).

Really awesome display, guys!

I wanna know too about that lifesize 4290 pirate ship in the background... :D

We had to press them for more safety about the diorama as when i was leaving funpark i have found your canon wagon off tracks and the half southern infantry line down from a domino effect.I think that some kid was too nasty!!!
A whole wagon out off tracks

WOW! This is definitely tooooooo nice for the kids! Hope it survives! Wish we had business in Greece so we could pop over for a week or two!

I also wish they had room for something like this at the Florida FP....actually they could if they cleared a few tables and made a special assembly area next to the long wall on the right of the big playroom. Or they could use the castle room in the back right of the playroom. Would need to put up plexiglass borders to protect the set up from little fingers!

They should provide a permanent display area for a huge diorama so that adult collectors could show off their stuff and adults visiting the FP could see what they could do with PM. This could sell a lot of PM for them.

Very nice display, Pgal

Impressive.

Would a tiny piece of sticky tack under the feet be an option so the don't fall over?

Is the top of the display open?  (with just a short clear wall around?)
Title: Re: Western Diorama for Playmobil Greece
Post by: bonniebeth on September 04, 2011, 15:41:49
Yeah I was thinking about sticky tack too. It won't damage the klickys and will prevent that nasty domino effect. I use it on my shelves in my living room, as every time a door slams, those shelves jostle.

You guys are so lucky to not only have each other to set up dioramas with but to also have an accommodating fun-park so close to you.

That is a great looking scene.

What ever you do do not use those ugly square foot stands. they really take away so much beauty from a diorama
Title: Re: Western Diorama for Playmobil Greece
Post by: Wolf Knight on September 04, 2011, 21:05:02
We sealed the clear surrunding plexyglass with a slim scellophan wrap tape, untill the the playmobil people manage to put something more permanent on top.

Blue tack is an option, yes but very time consuming...

We're just happy we did it, even if it does not last a week  But I am sure the playmobil people will lookk after it.  :crossed:

You do not have your own kids yet do you  kids, especially boys learn so much through touch and action/reaction, like if they bump the table the klickies fall, its science  ;D

It is easier to imagine if George was in a Ferrari dealership with all the cars were open and he was not allowed to touch or get in, could you imagine the fits of rage  kids in a candy store  ;)
Title: Re: Western Diorama for Playmobil Greece
Post by: bonniebeth on September 05, 2011, 00:48:40
yeah, and kids sometimes don't have as much coordination yet as we do.... in other words, they're clutzes! They're growing fast and have frequent phases where their feet are bigger than they think they are or their arms are longer than they think, and well, they trip and bump into things and knock things over without trying. Combine that with being rather impulsive about not thinking before they reach out and touch, and you have a lot of fallen klickys. ;)
Title: Re: Western Diorama for Playmobil Greece
Post by: playmogal on September 05, 2011, 01:34:53
I am amazed that ANY Klickies were still standing up after five minutes....the domino effect is so overpowering. When you take it down, could you get a video camera ready and record them falling in a row? That should be something cool to see!

During my 5302 family reunion, anytime I got near the mansion, most of the Klickies fell on their faces. It is good they did not have noses to break! Very annoying. Luckily the house is built with a wide open back that is relatively easy to access, because my hands and movements are kind of jerky at times and knock many things over.

I hope that PM learns from your diorama that this could work in other FP around the world...that could be a great outlet for the more experienced builders (definitely not mois!) to show off some of their fine works.

Congrats again on such a fine work of art...you guys really raised the bar for the rest of us, Pgal

No kids yet but thank  god the den has a key and i only have it

Reference the ferrari  dealership i used to live  7min away from the ferrari dealer of UK and pass its premises daily commuting to work . I test drove about 7-8 of them at least and i can only say they are by far the best sound cars in the world especially when fitted with Tubi exhaust systems and they are the only cars ( apart from fireegines ) that look perfect in red . favourite are the V12 ones , these are the reall ferraris imo

I can understand that but then again there are plain nasty kids whose parents have unbelievably spoiled them and that same parent wont even bother to tell the kid ''please dont touch! I really liked the majority of parents around the display saying to their kids ''look but dont touch! these good gentlemen tried to set it up for hours so you could look at it!''

I am very concerned about losing one or more of the pegs of the cannon carrying wagon and or the wagon connectors being damaged, i will be going tomorrow to the funpark to see what has happened etc , i have this sinking feeling that it wont be as when set. i adviced playmobil to put some restrict access rope around it  with poles  at a distant of no less that  0.5m  to keep it all  intact but i dont think they liked this idea ...  :hmm: :hmm: :hmm:

Too bad there is not room to build a 6 inch deep wall of police and SWAT teams around your entire display and add a few wires that give mild electrical shocks to keep the kiddies back!
(JUST KIDDDDING OF COURSE...we love little kids... especially when they are fast asleep!)

Maybe you guys could talk PM into sending your display (and you) to all of their FunParks so this could be done on other countries....i.e. in Florida!!! We could schedule a 12 hour drive to FL much easier than a 12-15 hour trip to Greece by air! But maybe it is time to visit Greece!
Whatever, Pgal!

Amazing! This looks like so much fun! And work! I've looked at these picture several times and am still impressed by the detail. That said, I don't know how you guys can stand to leave your Playmobil there, in a public place. I'd feel so uneasy until I got it all back, safe and sound. I'd probably have to check on it twice daily for peace of mind. Seriously.
