Those red arrows can be hard to come by (I used an eBay seller because I was too lazy to dig over the local landfill site!)
Pure laziness!

I got mine from a seller who'd had them since she was a child and fortunately looked after her toys. Only five of them but that's almost two sets.
Thanks for pointing out that the red thing is an old type of extinguisher, I thought it was some other kind of megaphone. I've since found out about one of these sorts called the minimax.

What a joy to scroll through those pictures     And they were from before my time, even.

An epic undertaking, yet again, and you did a brilliant job at it. Thank you so much! :wow:

Incredible work Graham. Many thanks.

I would propose a special subforum named "Playmoscholarship" or something to preserve threads like this with serious collector information. It would be a shame for this great work to sift down the pile.

Two notes:

The "axe pike" in 3138x and one other set is a halberd.

The unusual spear in 3337x is a boar spear. The crossbar is to prevend the miffed boar from running down the length of the spear and attacking the spearman.

And I did not know about that fire extinguisher! There is a picture of the real life version on this page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minimax_Limited

Thanks for the comments.
There are four types of halberd in PlaymoDB, not including the one in 3138x which looks particularly vicious, perhaps its a 'hackberd'?

When a boar is 'miffed', is that a specialist hunting term, perhaps meaning it has been snagged, snared or bagged by the hunter, or is it the usual meaning of 'quite annoyed'? (I cannot bring myself to visualise what you described in the rest of that description of a boar spear btw Macruran!)

There is a lovely little hotel (its called Faulty Towers, I think) in Hunstanton with some of those Vintage Fire Extinguishers on display. I used to think they were megaphones too!
At that moment the ship suddenly stopped rocking and swaying, the engine pitch settled down to a gentle hum. 'Hey Ford.' said Zaphod, 'that sounds good. Have you worked out the controls on this boat?' 'No,' said Ford, 'I just stopped fiddling with them.' (With thanks to Douglas Adams)

Well the halberd is not a perfectly fixed form, it varied over time and space, but the basic pattern of blade in front, spike in back, and spear on top is the key. The 3138x falls in that pattern. OTOH PlaymoDB includes two Chinese guandaos as "halberds".

By "miffed" I of course meant "mortally enraged". Picture an unhappy pig!

Three small corrections:
3326x with a different bucket

3344x Version 2 with a short-barrelled rifle

3353x with a red collar

Any more corrections gratefully received!

Not a correction as such, because availability is likely an issue, but the older klickies had tied scarves that were finer than the later ones. Unfortunately they also had a design flaw which meant that the left side tail? often broke off. Right side when looking at the klicky wearing it. Sometimes both tails came off.

Also the collar changed to a slightly smaller version so 'girl with umbrella' and 'paramedic' both have the newer collar.

Thanks Klickteryx. The early parts often differ in small ways from later ones and it's useful to have these differences pointed out. I wondered about the one-sided scarves, having seen them for sale on eBay, but I decided they were just broken ones!

I will look at those two collars as well. Small details I like to get right where possible!

Thanks for sharing those pictures. It looks as if I own most of them. I just set the parts and figures aside whenever I dug them out of used lots that I got off of eBay. Those figures actually grew on me and I like them a lot more than the modern (current) ones. Nice collection.
Actually, I do have the jester with the donkey and the water girl sitting right next to me myself.
