And here's how it arrived (not all the parts are there as I had some already):

“Today well-lived makes every yesterday a day of happiness to remember and every tomorrow a vision of hope.”

I was only able to sort out what I needed thanks to playmoDB as I didn't have any plans at the time as this was just before I spotted the 4087 set on eBay (see here:  http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=5361.0) and, in fact, I missed one item, a System-X green connector which I will buy on my next order.

The exercise proved two things - it is possible to buy a complete item from DS but it is expensive.  This THW 4x4 cost me more in parts than the 3181 set does, which is basically the same vehicle in fire brigade trim and with a figure and accessories (here: http://www.collectobil.com/catalogue/items/3181.htm).  However, if you want an item and the only way is through DS you can do it, and the extra cost isn't enormous, about £3 extra in this case.  As I wanted a THW 4x4 by itself in any case as an extra vehicle without the boat and trailer, it was a worthwhile experiment.

Too true. - For example today you pay over 15 € for all parts of an oak tree having been sold for 5,99 € as complete last year by the DS.

I didnt notice the price of the parts could add up to this level.
I only buy the klickies and their accessories and thought it is fair to get them at such a price without buying the whole set. Since neither I have place to display the sets, nor I would play with them. So I really love the idea of getting figures from DS. Do you guys prefer the vehicles, scenes and other components of the sets, or the klickies? I see quite a lot of people selling klickies on ebay, but the fact that they set it as an auction instead of buy it now make it very hard for me to get them in one shot saving the shipping and handling. So if anyone of you dont want too many new klickies, I would like to buy from you guys.

I buy any parts I need from DS - small parts to complete a set I've bought off eBay or for customising, klickies or whatever or items from the DS catalogue.  This is only the second time I've bought a complete item - I did once buy all the parts for a 3750 pirate ship (I'd forgotten this).   I only buy for my own use or on behalf of other collectors who do not have access to DS or cannot get what they want from their own country's DS, but not to resell on eBay.

No, no, no....I didnt suggest you to resell stuffs from DS on EBAY. I understand most of us are all collectors instead of ripping money from others. 8-) What I meant is, from my observation, some of the playmofriends might have more than one copy of the same set, so it would be good to sell the redundant ones to others, to maximize the utility of the society. And I stated this solely because I see some collectors have been offloading their collection, thereby pointing out here. Please accept my apologies.

And again, thank you and other generous playmobil lovers to help the people who dont have access to DS.

No apologies are necessary, Heronimus, I didn't take exception to what I thought you'd meant and apologies for confusing things.  On eBay I personally prefer to sell by BIN at  a reasonable price which I know will almost certainly lead to a sale.

Your ideas a good one and I think there's been some discussion of a similar idea in the Trading Post forum.
