More animals off the same molds...
« on: August 22, 2014, 18:40:23 »
So, I was thinking about Playmobil animals, and realized that they might be underutilizing their molds.  For example, my favorite bird is the Malaysian Great Argus; which, if Playmobil-ized, would still use the peacock sculpt.  You would only need to change the colors.  Are there other animals that could be quickly created with nothing more than a color change?

Wow, interesting topic! Let me think about this one...

First thing that comes to mind is the red river hog, which I believe could be made from  the same mold as the wild boar. The arctic fox could be made from the same mold as the red fox, and the thompson's gazelle mold seems that it could be used for a few other small antelope species, like perhaps a blackbuck, though the horn mold might need changing. Also, the body and leg molds of the ostrich could be used with different head molds to make an emu and a cassowary. And there are some other cat species, like the snow leopard, that could be made from existing molds.

I agree that a Snow Leopard would be an easy repaint (and I am planning on this for my zoo diorama- as I am planning some other custom animals)

You could use the current Goose to create a Canada Goose

The Parrot could easily be repainted to become a Cockatoo

A Dingo could be reworked from the German Shepherd (thin the tail a bit) or even the dog from 4237

A Wallaby from the Joey Mold

With a small modification to the horns that Ibex could become a Big Horn Sheep
I'm glad that I'm not the only one :)

Yes, I'm planning a snow leopard too. Some great ideas there!

It would be easy to do remakes for some Australian animals!

And yes I'm planning on customizing the animals I listed ;)
I'm glad that I'm not the only one :)

Some pigeons that aren't white/light grey. Urban feral pigeons are usually darker grey. They'd look more realistic in city scenes.
