Hi everyone, thank you so much for your comments.
As I looked through your photos, I had the tune "The Entry of the Gladiators" going through my head all the time! You can listen to it here as you go through the photos:

I've had that tune in the back of my mind too

It's perfect. Thanks for the link!
Now I'm also curious with the show... though my love of circus is long gone - don't think that applies to the playmoversion.
Because of the treatment of animals in circuses? Couldn't agree more, I never even wanted to see a real show with animals because I think it's completely brutish. But well, so was Western or medieval life, but in my plastic Playmoworld, it's another matter.
The circus fits well into the Victorian aera.
Thank you! I was a bit worried about that, because some items just don't seem to match. I changed the wheels of the trailers and left out modern bits from the circus tent, but some details escaped me. For instance, I just realised the picture on the billboard depicts a human canon ball... with very modern helmet

This reminds me of the film Little Nemo!
I had to look this up, because I hadn't heard of it before. I'm watching some of the movie right now, it's sooo cute

I just saw the circus parade part (and he has a squirrel, LOVE it!).

As Tim has suggested Christmas lights, we had very tiny LED ones on twoAA batteries that were a great scale. We found them at a discount store for a few dollars each and they were at least 18-24 inches long.
Yes the scale would be pretty important. I'll have to find some of those...
the only guys I don't like are the old ones with the white faces like Michael Jackson sorry but they give me the creeps.

I've heard people say that before, but I don't see it. Every circus needs a pierrot
