making hair buns
« on: March 06, 2013, 01:32:08 »
anyone remember seeing these toy matches?

was cleaing out my kids' stuff when I came across these plastic toy matches (why aren't they banned in western countries? I'm certain they were bought in TRU...I cant remember if I bought them :P)
anyway, they'll be perfect for smaller hair buns (for Asian kids & my medieval koreans)
....for size/scale, I just posed a Chinese general with them

Hm, I've never seen anything like that before, cheng, but I can see how they will be very useful to you.  It surprises me, too, that they should be on sale in a toyshop where young children could buy them without their parents knowing.

You ask why they aren't banned in western countries - does that mean they are in Malayasia?

probably bought in Malaysia (cant imagine this being sold in Australia etc).
but HK toys (in those days, none from China yet) were poorly moulded, so these quality would have been made for the West
...I frequented toyshops ever since I was a teenager and these matchsticks wont sell unless its associated with some kind of costruction game (not an Eastern thing ;) )
so I asked, hoping someone might have seen them somewhere ;)

I definitely cannot imagine those being sold here! But they look absolutely perfect for your use!

I can't imagine them being sold here either.

I just don't see what use they would have for children.  (I can't see the fun of using them - it's not like they light up or anything.)

The fact they are black plastic makes them blend in (unless you paint both?).

thanks bb!
I hope I dont ever have to find some more of these match sticks
....if Eastern kids wont find such 'toys' interesting (they rather play with the real ones )
and stores in the west wont carry them, its a mystery who they were marketed for in the first place :P

any such board games? ...they took the trouble to make 4 of each colour which is not enough to use as 'money' ???

"paint both" WM?
