I love the figure, Master Cheng! But I have a tainted feeling about this mallet. Is that really a traditional Chinese weapon? I guess that any object that can hurt can make do, but I think a mallet lacks… style!

I stand corrected
the nearest chinese weapons are these mallets used in pairs(I often wonder if they are all just mythical) although its ok for samurai army conscripts from villagers who used anything from sickles to pitch forks

I'd say they could be used for those type of weapons that you posted pictures of, or at least for some building tools!

"Chui" is Chinese for the hammer weapon used in Kung Fu. You can see mallets like this in old Kung fu movies from the '70s. You can also see them in samurai movies like 'Yojimbo'.
