Another toy store closing down... sad....
-
It is a shame to see a good toy shop go. :'(
I've just looked on the website and there are some good items there at very good prices.
Wish I was in the US, I want the 5 dwarfs set :hissyfit:

As you know, RRS was my favorite place to order Playmobil :hissyfit:
-
I'm very sorry to learn this. Ridge Road Station was my go to place for Playmobil and I've purchased a lot of sets from them. They will be missed. :'(
-
This is very sad news indeed! :'( :'( :'(

I've just been to the Ridge Road Station website. All remaining Playmobil is discounted 65%. There's not very much left (56 items). A few of the available items:
Hospital Floor Expansion--- $20
Add-on Swimming Pool-----$10
Garage--------------------$12
Free shipping on orders over $50!

I see now RRS is now doing the same deceptive tricks other annoying stores do.
The expansion for the hospital is listed on their site as $56.70 when it is really $49.99. RRS used to have better than Playmobil prices and were told to stop. They raised their prices to the SRP (suggested retail price) and never over that. Now all of a sudden they are marked up a convenient 15% Then they mark it down 65%. This is not true as it is really only 50% off. Tuesday Morning, TJMaxx, Marshals all do this type of lying.
Edit I had the #'s wrong. if it was originally $56.70 @ 65% off = $19.85
$49.99 @ 65% off = $17.50

A lot of stores do this. JC Penney has many items that have been listed at the same price literally for years, always being supposedly 15% with a previous price that never existed. it is annoying and deceptive.
-
Well great I just could not pass up the chance on getting the Hospital extension for $17 so I bought 3 of them  Now I need to find the hospital :-[
Normal price is $50 so it actually was 65% off
RRS sale sure went fast.
-
 We bought two hospital extensions and may buy two more if we get them before we're gone, and we don't have a hospital either! All the extra system x parts are useful and you won't find them any cheaper than that! I do want a hospital eventually, though.
-
Me too! I bought the extension and I don't have the hospital. I really must get one now! TRU seems to have the best every day price at $159.99 plus free shipping.
-
FYI: I just checked. They have 23 of the floor extensions remaining.

With the 3 I have bought that should make a 5 story hospital and that is much larger than most anything else I have so far. I really like Kaethy's and Bills designs and ideas for a diorama addition.
Hmm decisions decisions

I ordered two more! Plus a few other things. :-[ I think I've had a record-setting week on playmobil spending myself. I've bought from RRS twice, TRU twice, plus learning express and playmobilusa.

Oh do tell what else you got ? There wasn't much left at RRS but the other sites you bought at have a lot of selection.
Any body know of any other sites with steep discounts?
-
Well, the first RRS order was two hosp. exts, another zoo caddy, the dolphin transport, two of these: http://playmodb.org/setpics/4467.jpg , a carwash, this set: http://playmodb.org/setpics/4323.jpg , I think that's it.
Second order, two more hospital etentions, swimming pool add-on, water truck, and a grandstand.
Learning express, I got the air traffic control tower, even though i have no airplanes, just becasue it was there.
TRU, I got the expedition ship, http://playmodb.org/setpics/4469.jpg some more meerkats, some police cars, and I can't for the life of me remember what else. I'm starting to lose track! :-[
Ebay was a parts lot that had a wildebeest in it, I'm always trying to get more of those.
-
Oh, and from PM usa, I got some of the new vacation sets, bikini girl, and the wedding couple.
-
Nice purchases
The first lot I got from RRS was the one hospital Xtension, the big truck & trailer (should of got more), a circus tractor, a water trailer, 2 small boats (I had no idea they were so small), finally a dolphin sling thing and a 3 headed monster.
The second time around all I could come up with was 2 more hospital floors, the train bands, a couple water tailors, and I know there was more playmo but I guess I will be surprised when it gets here. I also bought G scale track packs and as I was told, they sent it separately and I had to pay shipping ::)
I just got 4 grandstands maybe 6 months ago from playmobil when it was 25% off, oh well could have saved a twenty but then I would have been so nervous as it has been discontinued and on clearance for a while.
Now I want more 8}
-
Honestly, this last order, I didn't really need ANY of it, it was just cheap. THe grandstand, I might use for something eventually, i already have one, the swimming pool, again I already have one, its for a possible future project, we want to eventually build a whole resort city, and we'll need plenty of hotel pools. The hospital exts are just for parts.

From RRS i bought one hospital extension, the swimming pool (I ordered lots of accessories to compliment it from Happy Hen Toys) the garage, the zoo seal transport, and one of the small sail boats. All for the price of one extension! Score!
I think between the two of you, you bought EVERYTHING they had remaining! There's nothing left now! Zilch!
I've lost all control these last couple of weeks. I've had packages rolling in daily! If there's no package with the mail, I'm disappointed. Today I received the retired zoo crocodile set 3229, and the hazmat guys from the UK.
I just made a low ball offer for a used hospital, ambulance, and African wildlife care center on craigslist. Waiting for reply. If he/she accepts I'll have to drive 3 hours, round trip, but I'll get it all for $125! Plus some add-on sets! Fingers crossed! (Except I don't really fancy the drive!)
-
Looks like they took down their website.
http://www.ridgeroadstation.com/
hopefully just to add more products ;D
-
Yeah I can't get on the site right now either... maybe they're lowering prices. ;D
Now we know why the forum is quiet, we're all busy buying playmobil! :yippee:

I am glad that more members in here were able to get some of these well priced items.
It sounds like many people are feeling the spring bug as our money springs out of our wallets
$125 seems like a realistic price and not a low ball offer. $50-ish is low and insulting.
RIP RRS :sorrow: I think they are now slowly being lowered into the hole :'(
