I went to Costco today and they had 2 sets there. One was a school with bus #5989 and the other was a police set #5990 or something like that. I took pictures on my phone but I do not know how to get them off. The school building is this terrible looking system x pieces that are all hollow and cheep looking. Very bad looking parts for longevity. I think it was $50. Both set #'s do not come up in Heaters DB so they may be right but my picture quality is so bad it is hard to tell.

That's disappointing. I've been checking a couple times a week at Costco since they started putting the toys out for the Christmas display and I haven't seen any Playmobil. Now that I know it's just going to be school and police I won't have to keep looking for it. :)

Well I'm heading for my local UK Costco tomorrow but I doubt it'll turn up there...the UK Costcos don't seem to get the same Playmobil stock as the US and Canadian ones, which is disappointing.

I show it,today the afternoon,in this toyshop near my neighborhood!!!!It costs 44,99,because it has a discount!Also this shop has take along school,take along hospital,bus and ambulance which have been released in US!!!However,it hasn't the school 5989!!!!!

Yes we need photos from the school with the bus (5989)!!Greek toystores in Athens wait for this set,these days and it will be cost 45 euros (equal with 50$),but no one has photo of this set!

Sorry that I've asked many times but,I was wondering,how the school is!At least the member who saw it,to describe us the set!If this has one or two floors,how many figures (men,women,boys,girls) has,and if it includes some figures/accessories similar to other sets!

There just don't seem to be any pics online yet, so we will have to wait patiently. I'm sure within a week or two, someone will be carrying the set online and we will all get to see it.

Oh, that's the same building as the Animal Clinic (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=4343), in different colors. Thanks for the pics, Rona! That building is annoying, as it is modular and difficult to connect with other system x. But it can be quite useful as a small building, like how Elaine brilliantly used it for a reptile house in her zoo! http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=11678.0

Hello!!!Thanks for the photos!!!!I like this building!!!I think that bus and figures (apart from woman) exist in 5940!And accessories also are not so new (they exist at 5971)!!!!!

It reflects the world's economical crisis: mum & dad have to drive themselves their 2 kids with a chinese-made schoolbus to an unfinished schoolbuilding, and then transform themselves into teachers ;D
I think I could use that grey baseplate though...

That set doesn't look good at all. It'd be very hard to create any scenarios with so few and cheaply made parts and figures. :(

Yeah, I actually think I will get this set. It stinks that they produce such stupid sets that may be some kid's first and probably last experience with playmobil. But it's a useful building for adding to an existing collection. I've thought of some uses for it already, and since it's white it will blend with other pieces better than the blue one from the animal clinic. In fact I may need more than one.

Yes it is usefull to add as a so called "cannon fodder" building in a scene but I think I will wait till they are priced accordingly, used locally and auctions for something in the range of $10

So now not only have the other themes been infected with the modular building system but now system x has morphed somehow into it also. It was bad enough when playmo converted from steck to system x but now this? It takes the ugliness of system x's holes and makes it useless when you want to build custom buildings. Those parts look like they were engineered to use the least amount of plastic possible. The bus was ok but since it was farmed out to china it lacks certain features that were playmobil standards. Yes it was only $20 but this is playmo where we expect to get what we pay for and that is excellence in toys and we pay more for it.

Exactly. I was so disappointed when I saw this set at Costco. So very different than the Playmobil I grew up with.

it's the first time I see these building! The front is very nice though form the back .... ewww!
I notice the columns are brick.... is that new?
