thanks BB & Baron...I didnt wipe prints on those grey ambulance caps I used for for my Afrika Korps but concelaed them with matching grey stickers
and this will be a big Playmo sin to wipe such a beautifully printed tattoo :P
unfortunately I need naked torsos for themes where they dont wear tattoos...like naval cannon crews or those serving in the French Foreign Legion ;)

Great one! He really looks like a celtic warrior who adores the sea.

Its an interesting approach cheng! Looking forward to see if you'll do more customs with this torso, in case you don't erase the tattoo.

I very much like the custom, :wow:

WoT, actually I didnt even know who had tattoos in the olden days....and if antiquity Asians had them, you can be sure I will make some :P

...looking forward to see if you'll do more customs with this torso, in case you don't erase the tattoo.

anybody any ideas? (historical ones) I havent got the heart to rub off their tattoos yet...its like a stay of execution ;D

Cheng: He certainly is one Celt with a lot of personality!!!!

I vote for keeping the tattoo because it makes him look so weird and individualistic, which is hard to achieve with these little folks!
Have no earthly idea if Celts had tattoos....I think it was too cold for them to run around with their tops off, and when the sun did finally shine for more than 30 seconds, they would blister being so fair skinned.
And with the seriously high death rates from infections and no antibiotics back then, it seems like he would not have a tattoo for long...because he would be dead. And the state of injection needles seems nonexistent then.

Ka-ching, ka-ching....my two cents worth....from a Celt many generations ago, Pgal

Pgal, your '2 cents' opinions are always held with deep respect :)
I know many collectors will be abhorred when i erase these nice tattoos, but if not for my long long wait for naked light-skinned torsos, I would not have bought these for my abnormal purpose  ;D but it would be most painful should Geobra suddenly issue a new tattoo-less naked light-skinned torsos
...anyway I will console myself that no two ancient celt can have the same elaborate tattoo :P

hey WoT & WK, i did a bit of searching and came up with nothing except these two  ::)

cheng: Why not! He is your own toy, and you can erase all day if you want!
Plus they sell plenty more where this one came from. Maybe one day they will make bare torsos easier to buy....without the swimming pool and family.
Speedodad is the most requested torso they have at US DS from what I can tell, and I still have only one....yup, the guy who came with my swimming pool. Cheers, Pgal

No kidding, Pgal!?!  :o :P
..if little children or their parents can't get a replacement one of these days, its not my fault, right? (you definitely agree I can also do what I like with my SpeedoDad's torso ;D
...give me 2 weeks and maybe the tattooed pirate will be next...you guys/gals with foresight better snap them up :P
...I wonder if Geobra might send me some promotional fees or maybe they might send me a lawyer's letter, after so many year's of collecting, I still cant guess what they will do next  ;)

Hi,

Reading this thread once more I decided to check the internet for Celtic tattoos. Well you can find a lot, but mostly modern references to get a Celtic tattoo because this is fashionable these days. Cannot find conclusively the Celts had "animal tattoos".

Playmogal mentioned the weather, which was to cold, however the Celts in their heydays covered all of Europe from south to north and at certain locations there was more than 30s of sun.  ;) ;) I would say the could have sometimes bare torsos. ;D

Besides, Julius Caesar wrote in his "De Bello Gallico" the Celts fought sometimes completely naked and their skin is painted/tattooed blue.
Later in history the Celts were driven Northeast and eventually the British isles had some Celtic tribes left. The Scots for example could also descend from Celtic tribes and it's known they painted themselves blue like in Braveheart. :)

ah, interesting, conniefrere!
now maybe SpeedoDad can 'wear' his own legs as a celt (his legs will be white come next year's launch of those olympic gymnasts

...so these narrower torsos are here to stay...I hope someday Geobra will make 'speedoDad' legs with with trousers/shorts and footwear :)

Actually, though it would have been bitter cold in the winter months,
during the summer months it would be perfectly feasible.
Even during the winter, it they had built up a tolerance to the cold they could have at least gone to battle with no tunic.
Actually, there were some Celts who would go to battle nude.
Though they did have the technology to make tunics.
And according to the Wikipedia article on Celts, it says that they did wear tunics.

As for tattoos, I know they had them. And they were common.
Pgal, you may be surprised on what people back then knew of medicine and infections.
Though it is nothing like our king of modern science,
if they do something that kills them a few times they will quickly find a way around it. ;)

youre right! these are not my themes...somehow when I glossed through them earlier, they sort of looked familiar ;D
thanks for pointing it out...now I see that even the new cyclist and weight lifter has these new legs too...even the fencers has these new legs but with white shins...
now would it be too much for me to hope for such legs showing some socks ? (for basketball players and Afirka Korps :P)

and conniefrere,
I am still hoping for 'speedoDad' legs with with trousers/shorts and footwear but with those new 'hips'(smaller frames) that can fit into his muscular torso

Wow, some did have tattoos and did fight topless or whatever back then! That means that Chengs's Klicky could have lived then. Cool, Pgal
