Thinking about what I wanted to see done and what was missing in the victorian theme, I noticed that there is something very common in the 1800 and 1900 that Playmobil hasn't done....yet ;) : a rack for hats, umbrellas and kins.
But how to make one?
Here are some examples of the real thing.
(http://i1205.photobucket.com/albums/bb432/tonguello/Perchero/perchero-1.jpg) (http://i1205.photobucket.com/albums/bb432/tonguello/Perchero/IMG_8576.jpg)
Now a little story. There is candy in Argentina called Paraguitas, that means little umbrellas, that has been around since I was a kid. It is basically a lollipop but instead of caramel it is made of chocolate. It has the shape of an umbrella.
So one day walking by a drugstore I saw them and inspiration came at once. I could now make my rack. ;D All I needed was to get some candy (got a lot!) and I already had the rest.
So this is what I used.
The rack that comes in the victorian kitchen (I had one broken) which is not tall enough, a bicycle wheel, a victorian tea cup and three Paraguitas. (there is a grey thingy in the pic that I didn't use in the final version)
So I cut the curved ends of the Paraguitas sticks and put them in the holes that the kitchen rack already has. As seen on the pic
To add some height I used the tea cup cutting off the handle. And then I cut some of the rays of the wheel to fit the playmo umbrellas.

Then it is just paint and put together

In fact, It's quite a versatile creation! I'd love to have one of those for one of my city houses!
-
Thank you all guys!
The grey maid is a custom of mine.
I was reading one of Karim's topics about victorian servants. I learnt there were different types and status among them. So I thought my mansion needed some of that too. This would be actually a cleaning maid... but she was the one I had at hand for the pic
btw... the bow and apron are not white but a very warm light yellow. :)

A very 'aristocratic' custom and picture withe the maid . Now i feel bad i havent gotten round buying the victorian sets such as a fully furnished 5300 before they end up costing as much as a real house down here

It's really amazing how much work goes into even a short story, isn't it? Even just one picture for a photo contest takes so much more time than you think it will!

This rack is beautiful, Gaston! 8-)
You are very clever to come up with something like this that fits so well with other Victorian Playmobil pieces. The upturned cup to add extra height is pure genius!
-
Thank you everyone!
This kind of inspiration comes only once in a while

It looks great, Gaston! A very useful creation. :)9
