Title: My full collection.
Post by: Rhalius on September 29, 2011, 10:12:40
I picked up my camera today (Nikon coolpix S3100) and started taking pictures right away.  :)
Please excuse me for the slightly blurred pictures here and there, I am still very new at photography.

Here is the entire collection:

Modern stuff:

Wild West:

Pirates:

Medieval, vikings and victorian:

For the special collectors, heres all specials together:

And here are the three factions I would love to get more of:

Especially the tower knight is a bit sad, his only company seems to be a spoiled princess and a flamboyantly homosexual messenger.
Got to give praise for playmobil though for breaking boundaries like that.  :)

I know the archer isnt a swan character, but he didnt seem to fit anywhere else and those knights need someone to boss around.  ;)

It might be a very odd mix in total, but we always used my older brother's castle to create any housing.

That is a very nice and varied collection! Some really great stuff in there. I see you have one of my very first sets, that indian teepee. I love that set! Thanks for sharing!

the books arent mine.

The indian teepee was one of my first too, several parts missing sadly enough. The ghost might have been my very first.

thanks, thinking back about it I do feel that I should have been a bit more focused on less themes.
Then again, my siblings already had stuff from these themes before me.

I am still considering getting rid of the modern day stuff in favor of more historical sets.

On a sidenote, is there anything rare in my collection? as far as I know there isnt, but I am just curious.  :)

Maybe I will post the collection of my sister, and my brother and older sister as well.
They never picked up their playmobil but we do have it in seperate boxes. My sister plans to pick up hers sometimes, when she gets kids of her own and I do plan to take my stuff along when I move out.

Might be quite a chore to sort out the sets my brother and oldest sister owned though, they dont know themselves who had what, my parents don't know either and I never saw any of it together as the original sets.
But the german playmobil page seems to show the full archive, so I might be able to get it sorted out sometimes. Lots of broken and missing things sadly enough.
But plenty of stuff from the 70's and 80's.

i like your new pirate sets.

I like your teepee (my local store still has a lot of original teepees brand new in package...no one seems to buy them over the years, so they're still there).

your medieval factions: does the archer really go with the swan kingdom?  I never realized that!  I have him with my lion kingdom as a tower archer.  But I think his colour does match the swan kingdom colours a bit closer.

great collection!

None of my other factions seem to be blue and yellow, and theres a bit of light blue on his chest so it seems to match well enough.
Using more light blue could be reserved for the nobility.  :)

Lion faction is a bit of an oddball with no clear color indication, I have three characters from them and they all use completely different colors. Two are from specials though, but I think the others used all kinds of colors as well.

I don't see anyhting really rare right off hand, but it's hard to define rare sometimes. Some of those sets are rather sought-after. I think I saw the western gold miners in there? I don't know how rare they are, but I remember wanting them as a kid, and would love to have them now. And that old cavalry set is nice.

The gold miners is actually a set I picked up when I was 11 or 12, it was an old set at the time and very cheap, probably about half the normal store price.

There really is a lot in this set so I would recommend it to anyone.
Clickies might be a bit basic but they are all quite different and show character, I don't think I would be able to come up with a better mix of gold seeking clickies myself.
Lots of equipment for them as well. Five daggers, five pistols, four gold bags, a pick, an axe, a shovel, five mugs and a pitcher, and I gues the rest of it can be seen clearly on the image.  :)

Seemed like a great set to expand my cowboys at the time, so far it's still the last cowboy set I purchased.

Nice collection! You have the Native American/Indian set that I really want! I love the whole set, but especially the baby in the papoose!  Too bad your siblings won't just let you keep their share of the Playmobil!

Sadly there are quite a few things missing/broken from the indian set, I did receive it at an early age and it's been played with a lot.
The papoose to hold the baby is broken and can't go on the back anymore, a shoe is missing, several armlets, the shield is missing, the chain and poles to hold up the cookpot are broken and missing too, both rugs that came with it are missing and the tent doesnt look that great anymore either.  :(

Heh and I do like the tower messenger, we always played him as being rather overly enthusiastic about his duties.
If he where to deliver a message on behalf of the tower knight regarding just meeting up with someone, the messenger would invite them for tea and cookies, to give an example. He also liked to recite poetry and song written by his master despite it not being meant for the public but still crediting his master with the work.
He pretty much tried to make his master appear much nicer and friendlier than intended.  :)

And if I ever get the 3666 castle and jousting tournament, he will have lots more tower nobility to embarass.  ;)

You should look for various old lots on eBay to get those missing pieces. They are veritable gold mines!

Heh it might cost a lot of money for those individual pieces, unless one person would somehow happen to have all or most of those pieces. Otherwise the individual shipping costs could cause it to be very expensive.

Aquiring additional sets from that period is probably going to cost me quite a bit, although I would be willing to trade all of my modern day sets for medieval sets of about the same value, as long as they are from the same period as my own medieval sets.
Could be further compensated with payment in case the combined value is obviously less. Would still save me quite some money.

I'd prefer a trade in person for that though, so both sides would be able to inspect quality and to be sure nothing goes wrong with the sending and delivery process.

And as promised, here is the full collection of my brother and oldest sister.

Next week I hope to post the small collection of my other sister who is two and a half years older than me, we always played together in our childhood. I grew up on a cargoship with complete living compartment here in the netherlands, so was always there in weekends and in vacations, with no other children around and no way to play outside.
Which meant a lot of playing with playmobil but no space to keep it built up. Which explains the many broken and missing parts I gues, since we really where carefull with our toys and felt really bad whenever the smallest thing would break.

Anyways, here's the collection of my brother and oldest sister.

Complete overview:

The castle:

I agree, very nice to see these old klicky's and still looking good.  i also noticed the Nuremberg guards helmet is losing it's shine.
Must say I had the same problem with some of the silvery helmets.

Sadly I can't remember any of those armors and helmets being fully shiny. We didnt have the space to have it all build up all the time, it had to be stored away very often, so that does cause it to scratch against other parts.

And here are the spare parts from which I couldnt figure out what sets it might have been.

Lots of clicky holders which probably where part of some sets, but I am not really worried where they belonged.

It did make me a bit sad to put all this together.. Seeing how great it must have been when everything was still complete and not broken.
Worst part was finding out several things where broken that where not yet broken last time I saw it, I gues my nephews where too rough with it last time they played with it. That caravan was still intact, as was the seat in front of it.
There used to be a red stagecoach, but sadly my sister broke it by accident. And many things where appearantly already broken or missing before I was born since I dont recall there ever being a market stand or cannon balls with the pirate ship, and plenty of other stuff such as chairs. I do remember the sails of the pirate ship being there, but not functional anymore.

In an attempt to recapture some old glory, I customized a pirate crew again and really filled up the ship like I used to do during my childhood.
Here they are, ready to challenge any upstart fancy looking new pirates and soldiers!
Believe it or not, but I used to call the pirate in blue Jack. He was my favorite pirate, the slightly faded mouth gave him a bit more character, and made him easy to recognize.

:o Due to the helmet and your're collection in general I thought for a moment I saw my own playmobil from when I was a kid.
These last pictures you showed at least. I sold it all when I was young.

Very nice to see your pics brings back a lot of happy memories!     Still remeber I got the pirateship when I became 7.

The prison tower was the frst ever steck set for me too!!

Thanks for sharing it with us  :)

No problem, its not mine though.  ;) But it was all on one pile during my childhood, which might explain that aside from the new pirates, I only have three myself from before my recent spree. There already was a pirate ship with a full crew after all, they just werent mine.  :)

And a little steck castle too, which was used all the time. You'd be amazed at how much we managed to do with so little steck, which only further proves the greatness of that system. It's not too solid anymore but it holds just fine as long as its not moved aside or picked up.

You and your siblings must have had a lot of fun with all that playmobil! So many different themes mixed in there, makes for all sorts of games. Sounds like you had an interesting childhood!!!

It certainly was, playing with playmobil is where some of the best memories from my childhood come from. Many inside jokes between me and my sister originate from playing with it.  :)

Thanks! the castle and the pirate ship where played with very much. One time we even managed to make two pirate crews, one in the castle and one on the ship.
We made as many pirates as possible with what was available. Officially there where just 13 pirates in total, but I believe we managed to at least double that by using medieval figures and some cowboys in the right way, mixing and matching apparel.
