Title: Superspecials (release DE febr 2012) are on Playmobil.de
Post by: Hadoque on September 19, 2011, 22:07:46
The new "superspecials" have now been added to the "spezial"-section(*) on Playmobil's German homepage.

Here's as example the link to the medieval archer:

http://www.playmobil.de/on/demandware.store/Sites-DE-Site/de_DE/Product-Show?pid=4762&cgid=Special

He looks great I think, red stripes on the pants,  and a typical 15th/16th-century print on the arms as well (much like the falkerklicky from the Hunting Party). Too bad the boots are reddish again, brown or black whould have been better.

(*): I know "spezial"-section may sound a bit untasty when talking about a German topic, but I shouldn't mention the war again  ;D (my posts & pics on Klickywelt are already being completely ignored  ::) )

Oh, he's awesome! :inlove: Love the target, for some reason, and love that basket! he's really cool. Also love the balloon that comes with the clown. I was so sick of heart-shaped balloons!

Thanks for the heads-up, Hadoque :klickywink:! The Super Specials are amazing, and is it my imagination or is the archer's arm bent? It's also great that the prices are listed so I can compare on Ebay  :confetti:! Usually the button that says in den Warenkorb says 'you must sign up to order this product' or something in German, but now it doesn't :hmm:. Out of curiosity I clicked it, and it took me to the shopping-cart screen  :omg:! I'm not sure if they'll ship to the US, or if this is some kind of mistake, but if they let people order from Germany they could make a fourtune (from me alone :P!)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Update: Playmobil is still only shipping to Germany; they let anyone see the shopping cart but to actually place an order you need to register and have a German address  :-[.

But why are they called SUPER specials? Is a new series of some sort? it is because they bring more accesories?  :hmm:

I love these 6 sets more than those 6 in last July.

By the way, I also have the same question. Why are they called SUPER?? Is it because of the price??  Anyways, the price is markup  :eh?:

I absolutly love it

The archer is very nice - I just hope his neckwear isn't the recent type where you have those two unsightly studs on which to hang your quiver etc.

The knight is - how can I put it? Godawful is as good a word as any.

The clown's nice. The others do not interest me in the slightest.

More bang for our buck with these 'super' specials? I doubt it. The inclusion of accessories we could have done without (like the weapons on the knight) do not add too much value to the set, in my books.

Mah - it's the usual thing. Something comes out, people start wetting their pants in excitement and then a couple of months down the line everyone starts realising the release wasn't that hot to start off with. Just like it happened with the knights.

Thanks for the link, Erwin.  They certainly seem to take the Specials up a notch in terms of accessories and the price seems about comparable with the current Special price in the UK.  One thing though, they show that Playmobil can't please everybody - some people like having extra parts, others seem not to!

But these are still "specials"? Cause we had already decided to stop buying them all if they weren't!

See how they mess with my restraint!?

LOVE the dogs.

Good thing they're cheaper than the horsies. I wish the horses didn't bring that stable thing.

And then a few years later after it's discontinued, everyone realizes how great it was, points to it and talks about the good old days when PM gave us stuff like this, and buys it for a high price on ebay.

Maybe we should just keep a positive attitude towards these releases while they're with us, and while they're at a regular price.

The Archer is pretty cool though i dont see a bended arm ??? I wonder if the target is made of plasteline or what ? surely that would deform very quickly and colours mix etc cant really tell what this material is made off. Interesting to see if htese arrows actually shoot as the very first ones did many many years ago ( with the help of a tiny rubber band  ) and i wonder how many of these arrows would fit into a normal playmo quiver and how many if so . these arrows would make a nice realistic touch to any archer army etc

I also really like the mountian biker, the clown , the air hostess  and the red knight well the helmet i like the rest looks rather weird but this helmet is mostly interesting. bad choice of color though ...  :hmm: :hmm:

What I think is the reason of more accessories of these coming special sets is Fi?ures series will continue and have 2nd series next year. In order to differentiate clearly between Special and Fi?ures series.

More accesories, so higher price.

the arm is not bended... but it looks moved in towards the body to make it look like he is aiming.
I think it is definetly a marketing "look". We have seen this type of "misleading" images in another sets regarding colors and the real look of things...  :)

if the arm really moves towards the body that means a new mold and a new moving system which I think will not happen soon. if it is bended, it would look weird when not aiming the target....  :-\

I don't like the archer. I prefer an earlier period for knights. PM are definitely moving towards Renaissance with their knights, not my cup of tea. The red knight has an interesting helmet, though I would have loved those horns on an open helmet, not on this new one.
BTW, did you check set #4014? Is it my eyes or is the horse in the forground wearing a new saddle?

wierd at that angle the archer's arm appears bent for shooting the arrow, but i think it's just an optical illusion.  I like how the target looks all gnarly and NOT a perfect circle.  cool!

We have got the Figu?es now for just one klicky
and the specials are enlarged to klicky+nice accesories (more than before).

Prices will probably follow that scheme too.

Figu?es: 2€
Specials +: 4-5€ soon??

well, a special-plus costs 3 euro on the German website. That's for Germany. Outside Germany, prices are usually higher. So a special-plus would probably be 3,50 to 4,00 euro on f.e. Playmobil's Belgian site. And on the site, sets are usually cheaper then in most shops... So let's say 4 to 5 euro in european non-German shops.

More accesories are nice if they are something exclusive or if you're just buying 1 or 2 specific specials, but if there is a special-plus you want a whole bunch of (like a soldier or knight f.e. to establish a regiment/army), it will cost lots more then today with the normal specials... ::)

But haven't PM always been more Renaissance in their approach to the knights series (unless you go back to the 70s)? If you look at the catapult leader from the 90's for eg ...

I think you are right Arnaud, It's a decent set (although unfortunate the baseplate is not new) and a new saddle would be great.

The fact that the Axe Knight Special (http://playmodb.org/setpics/4746.jpg) has another person fighting on his same faction (although differently coloured is nice, although the cpat of arms is a bit ugly). And it'll be the third faction of the falcon knights (the easteregg was Orange Silver).

Lots of potential for army building with this set.

To me it looks just like the old knife throwing act principle is at work... there are just 3 holes in the target and the arrow tips are now wider and deeper as to stick into the slits

yes, the target has holes and the arrows have a rounded point that fits the hole and stays.  :)

If you look at the catapult leader from the 90's for eg ...

Why you think this is more rennaisance era  ??? ??? ???. I think the medieval klickies of the 90s ( I exclude some magic sets ) were all very medieval and quite frankly the best medieval line playmobil ever made, 3666/3667 sets supported by the siege tower/ catapult and the additional steck sets and of course the foot soldiers, archers / knights was by far the most comprehensive and detailed and REALISTIC above all medieval range , shame really back then the steck houses didint make a comeback something i was very upset about in the mid/ late 90s i recall.... Todays's sets and medieval klikcies are so different all together and the lack of realism in their design/ colours and weapons make them very temprary and never a truly classic / collectable set i am afraid. Medieval sets have more parts and complexity but they lack the realism and comprehension of the 90s sets, that is why i refer to the 90s ( for other reasons also ) as the golden era of playmobil. If anything HAns Beck ensured all klickies still had a smile on their face !! Playmobil should neverr have created those angry /evil faces, very wrong and personally playmobil is not as educational and as an expensive / ' good' toy as before . Of course the new sets sell quantities and therefore they will continue along these 'non Hans Beck lines' but i doubt these sets will ever be as cult and collectable as the 3667 and siege tower for example . .....  :)

Mmm. I guess I meant to say that early to mid-Middle Ages Normans (let's mention Normans for convenience's sake) certainly looked nothing like the klickies you find in sets like 3666, 3653 and so on.

The closest PM ever got to that look was with the last crusaders special - imo, but so much more could be done as regards to a more realistic medieval look. There's a lot of great Norman customs here and on other boards like Tricorne Jock etc.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/8765199@N07/2282325184/

Such a soldier would never wear boots, for eg.

But like I said, it depends on what you mean by middleages.

I like the Superspecials. My favorite would be the stewardess and next the guy with the exotic birds. I'm also wondering if the centre of the target is made of platicine or that maybe the two holes are prefab.

I love the dog families. Those I'm sure of that I'm going to buy them.

The interesting question is that these arrows seem to be able to hit and stay on that target, which seems to be of some sort of soft material BUT have a colored cover ' target ' on top of it ...  ??? ??? which means the arrow actually go through it  ??? ??? ??? ??? a very original playmo mystery that is waiting to be solved !!!  :sherlock:

If you look closely at the picture, the arrows in the target look shorter than those in the archer's arm. Their tip looks square-ish, and so look the holes in the target!

i like the archers target, the archer seems plain to me, and makes me upset, i've been waiting for a real nice archer for long time... like the 4582, or the 3889, or even the archer from the 4437, but with leather arm guard... with a nice color combination, i'm sick of red, pink , yellow boots... or the bad combination of the 4672...

to me a nice one will be light armor torso, like  the 4677, or a chainmail torso, with a chain mail neck with the 4534 helmet with pants or tunic, or a plain torso or striped with a hoodie with a hat like the 4437 and a long english bow, the arms same color as torso, brown arm guard in right hand... belt at the waist with arrow in the back and a space in front for a small knife. with a brown boots like 5908 green guy... or even the crossbow, like the pavise shield guys... logo on the torso, something on the neck, helmet or hat, with arrow in the back and a pavise shield.... like the 3651... but no, there he comes another clown colored archer...

(...) brown arm guard in right hand...

Shouldn't the arm guard be on the left? On the hand that holds the bow? I thought so, because that's the wrist that the arrow would "raze" on the "way out"...

If you look closely, you can see a third hole in the target. On the far side of the brown ring, right where it meets the blue.
