We’re moving into the last two groups of the day.
Starting out for Group G we have local favorite Sir Sigismund of Sweetwater
(http://animobil.info/PFJoust/Marketon/Group%20Rounds/Round%201/G/1/mj-1-g-1-1.jpg)
-
His opponent this match will be Angeir the Viking from Krull
(http://animobil.info/PFJoust/Marketon/Group%20Rounds/Round%201/G/1/mj-1-g-1-2.jpg)
-
(http://animobil.info/PFJoust/Marketon/Group%20Rounds/Round%201/G/1/mj-1-g-1-3.jpg)
It looks like Sir Sigismund wasn’t quite ready to go this run. His lance is much too high to score a hit. The Viking though has good solid placement and gets a one point shield hit.
-
(http://animobil.info/PFJoust/Marketon/Group%20Rounds/Round%201/G/1/mj-1-g-1-4.jpg)
Sir Sigismund has settled in low clearly. He gets a good solid hit off of Angeir the Viking, and just manages to pull his shield in enough that the Viking misses him completely.
Score has become tied at 1-1
-
(http://animobil.info/PFJoust/Marketon/Group%20Rounds/Round%201/G/1/mj-1-g-1-5.jpg)
Both looking solid here, with a nice shield hit for them
Score tied at 2-2
-
(http://animobil.info/PFJoust/Marketon/Group%20Rounds/Round%201/G/1/mj-1-g-1-6.jpg)
Another good solid run with shield hits for each. That puts the score tied at 3-3, for a win one of them will have to score a point higher than the other at the end of a run
-
(http://animobil.info/PFJoust/Marketon/Group%20Rounds/Round%201/G/1/mj-1-g-1-7.jpg)
Oh, shield hits for both again. That puts it at 4-4 and still tied. This Viking is looking to be a much stronger competitor than had been expected Sir Edward.
Indeed, he’s clearly had some serious practice up there in Krull.
Wouldn’t think it would be the Ale having any effect?
No I shouldn’t think so, or all the knights would be doing the same.
-
A bit of a delay here, something to do with a stirrup apparently
-
Ah, here we go
(http://animobil.info/PFJoust/Marketon/Group%20Rounds/Round%201/G/1/mj-1-g-1-8.jpg)
And this one is a miss for both. Either the delay or just fatigue taking it’s toll at this point.
Or perhaps both.
Still tied 4-4
-
(http://animobil.info/PFJoust/Marketon/Group%20Rounds/Round%201/G/1/mj-1-g-1-9.jpg)
Verily!
That’s unexpected, the Viking’s thrown Sir Sigismund right off his horse!
Definitely a tough competitor, this Angeir the Viking looks to be something of a wild card this tourney
He’s definitely upset expectations with this match.
That’s a win for Angeir the Viking
-
Moving on to match two in Group G we have Sir Wolfram
(http://animobil.info/PFJoust/Marketon/Group%20Rounds/Round%201/G/2/mj-1-g-2-1.jpg)
-
And his opponent the Mighty Mysterioso
(http://animobil.info/PFJoust/Marketon/Group%20Rounds/Round%201/G/2/mj-1-g-2-2.jpg)
-
(http://animobil.info/PFJoust/Marketon/Group%20Rounds/Round%201/G/2/mj-1-g-2-3.jpg)
Two experienced knights here, and it shows. Mysterioso gets a shield hit off of Sir Wolfram this first run. Sir Wolfram manages to swing his lance above Mysterioso’s shield and gets a 2 point body hit.
Mysterioso 1 and Sir Wolfram 2
-
(http://animobil.info/PFJoust/Marketon/Group%20Rounds/Round%201/G/2/mj-1-g-2-4.jpg)
It looked like the shield shape was a disadvantage for Mysterioso that run Sir Edward?
It’s a tricky shield type Vanidel. That cut out curve lets it sit over the top of a lance providing good protection but any error of placement can give an opening to the opponent’s lance. Defnitely not a shield type for amateurs.
-
(http://animobil.info/PFJoust/Marketon/Group%20Rounds/Round%201/G/2/mj-1-g-2-4.jpg)
A steady run this time with square shield hits for both contestants
The body hit in the first run gives Sir Wolfram the point advantage here and the win
Sir Wolfram 3 to Mysterioso 2
-
We’re heading into our last Group of the day, group H
First up will be Lord Etir Sayest
(http://animobil.info/PFJoust/Marketon/Group%20Rounds/Round%201/H/1/mj-1-h-1-1.jpg)
-
And his opponent is the winner from the Winterhaven Joust earlier in the year, Sir Seamus Flynn
(http://animobil.info/PFJoust/Marketon/Group%20Rounds/Round%201/H/1/mj-1-h-1-2.jpg)
-
(http://animobil.info/PFJoust/Marketon/Group%20Rounds/Round%201/H/1/mj-1-h-1-3.jpg)
It’s a shield hit and a point for Lord Etir this first run, and a high miss for Sir Seamus
-
(http://animobil.info/PFJoust/Marketon/Group%20Rounds/Round%201/H/1/mj-1-h-1-4.jpg)
Sir Seamus manages a nice shield hit this run, but Lord Etir sneaks above the shield for a good solid hit to Sir Seamus’ body. That’s 1 point for Sir Seamus but 2 for Lord Etir, giving Lord Etir the win with 3 points total.
-
In our final match of the day we have Sir Christoph of Riverway joining us form the North
(http://animobil.info/PFJoust/Marketon/Group%20Rounds/Round%201/H/2/mj-1-h-2-1.jpg)
-
And his opponent Baron Roderick Blackthorn
(http://animobil.info/PFJoust/Marketon/Group%20Rounds/Round%201/H/2/mj-1-h-2-2.jpg)
-
(http://animobil.info/PFJoust/Marketon/Group%20Rounds/Round%201/H/2/mj-1-h-2-3.jpg)
Oh, it looks like Sir Christoph dropped his shield badly on this run, he manages a shield hit, but Baron Blackthorn gets a good hit to Sir Christoph’s shoulder.
2 points for Baron Blackthorn and 1 point Sir Christoph
-
(http://animobil.info/PFJoust/Marketon/Group%20Rounds/Round%201/H/2/mj-1-h-2-4.jpg)
And it looks like just the opponsite this run, with the Baron dropping his shield too low and getting hit on the arm while only managing a shield hit off of Sir Christoph.
That ties the score at 3-3
-
(http://animobil.info/PFJoust/Marketon/Group%20Rounds/Round%201/H/2/mj-1-h-2-5.jpg)
Both of them manage to keep their shield up this time, but it looks pretty close in both cases
A point for each keeps it tied at 4-4
-
(http://animobil.info/PFJoust/Marketon/Group%20Rounds/Round%201/H/2/mj-1-h-2-6.jpg)
They’ve both got their shield up high this run but Baron Blackthorn manages to still get above Sir Christoph’s scoring a shoulder hit and 2 points to Sir Christoph’s one point shield hit.
That gives the point advantage to Baron Roderick Blackthron, and the win of the match 6-5
-
(http://animobil.info/PFJoust/Marketon/Opening/mj-op-4.jpg)
In Group G we had wins by Sir Wolfram and the unexpected win by Angeir the Viking
And in Group H the wins went to Lord Etir Sayest and Baron Roderick Blackthorn.
And that concludes the first day of competition here at Marketon
There are still 2 more rounds to go before we get to the elimination brackets, who ends up with enough wins to make it into the elimination is still very much undecided. There were some great performances today out on the Tilting Ground, and I’m sure we can look forward to even more tomorrow.
Thanks for joining us, and see you all tomorrow!
-
Excellent!!! Bravo to the Krull viking!!!
-
Krull! Krull! Krull! Krull!
-
While i was reading this round with great anxiety , someone came in my office told her to go away and come back in 10    . This is soooooooooooo exciting. Some unexpected developments so far with the previous champion off from the start ( might be too much ale ??) and Arngeir the Viking making a surprisingly good start , clearly the big underdog of the tournament. This tournament has already had a lot of surprises indeed !!!!
-
An unfortunate start for Sir Seamus indeed. Are the Viking Florists sponsors of the event or just the Viking from Krull *grin*
-
No, Viking Florists aren't a sponsor of this event, it's at the wrong time of year to be a useful advertising vehicle for them.
Sven is there though as a guest of his friend Franz of the Jungle - the spokesman for Jungle Juice, It's Fruit!
-
So the Viking Florist are looking into potentially sponsoring an upcoming event more in their "season"?
Does Vanidel have any insight on if Sven is supporting Krull's Viking or does he have any other favorites?
-
Well naturally Sven is a big supporter of JustFred the Flower Lover :)
-
DOH...Of course...then again...aren't we all :-)
