So yesterday we went to our favorite, obscure Playmobil toy store with the intention to buy one thing. Well that didn't happen. But I did see some old grand mansion accessories. The problem is, I don't have a grand mansion nor any other Victorian theme sets. But I had to buy those sets, right??? ???
So, in buying these sets I feel like now I'm diving into the Victorian theme :o The good thing is, a have a relatively small wish list, but I am completely unfamiliar about what is a fair price. Do you have any advice for finding a good 5300 and other Victorian sets? Plus, I really, really need 4501 Sherlock-- but these prices on eBay are nuts!
Thanks, friends

 Two of my favorite sets. The Victorian Theme is a very slippery slope! The prices on eBay are ridiculous for the most part, but it is so much fun! ;D

Oh, I'm drooling! I really love that living room set.   I've always wanted it. I hope you do manage to find a 5300 to put them in! :)

For the house I would look on local adds like Craigslist, even put up your own wanted add. The prices on auction sites gets out of hand quickly which will lead to regret in starting to collect a new theme. Now if you are able to get sets at 1/2 the going rate you are more likely to enjoy you slide down the slope.
The good thing about starting to collect the Victorian theme is there are a lot of auctions daily.
Also there are some add-ons that are on their way to the US.
The main thing is to avoid buying Victorian sets with-in months of Christmas, if you think the prices of set is high now, wait till you see houses selling for $500
Great purchases by the way

Thanks, guys. Good advice, Ras. I will definitely try Craigslist. It's like I have no self control or something :-[

...i also recommend buying from private sellers - no ebay etc. - just with a strict limit and luck...but wait a minute - i think it was me who bought a boxed 5300 for a not ok price.... :-[

great sets! the bathroom is one of the first sets I bought when I went back to collecting.
I haven't got the living room yet. I can't get passed the fact that it comes with only 2 chairs. >:( >:(

I LOVE the Victorian theme!
Jenna, you may want to check on Kijiji as well~that's where I got one for my daughter last Christmas....I got a real deal...probably $500-$600 worth of stuff for $125! It was in another town but a friend of a friend picked it up for me....I got not only the mansion but all the furniture, the patio, fence, people, animals, the old car, the street light, the advertising dome thingy, market stuff, plants and all of the tiny accessories too.....then also on Kijiji (in another town) I got the mansion 5305 (its the house) for $50 w/o accessories....my plan is to use the floor on that one to add to the mansion....still have to work on that project :-[
Places like Value Village are great as well....I just acquired a bunch of people, vintage market wagons, crates, and accessories and it all came to $8....
Good luck in adding to your Victorian collection!
PS~ Hi everyone~ Its been a while!
