Title: 6240 - Old Timer Touring Car
Post by: Tiermann on June 05, 2011, 22:17:32
This is a new release for June that I was lucky enough to get a copy of while I was in Germany. It is a typical bagged add-on set.
Here are the contents:

Here is Karl from Transport Union showing us a comparison of the old truck and the new car. Note that the car is a darker green and the seats are not as red as in the old version.

and finally the front showing the working hand crank and the front grill

The add-on is 14,99 Euro and only available in Germany so far. It will be in the export markets next year.
I think it is a great set at a good price. I really like this dark green color.

I think Playmobil has hit a home run with this new version! The colors are leaning more to a realistic look! Thank you for sharing this magnificent release with us Bling King! ;)

Fantastic!!! I like it so much!!! I 'd get a few of these!!! I guess both collectors and kids can buy this as it can be used with the currentt dollhouse series! I am sure our german and french friends who do all the great dioramas will buy lots and lots for their creations.

Thanks for the review Tim.  It is indeed a sweet car.  Is there any way to put the steering wheel on the other side? ala non british style?

Nice background story, Tim!

And thanks for the review. It made me wonder what the car would look like with red tires... :)
(esp. as I should have some spare ones from the Karstadt truck...)

best,
socrates

excellent review, Tim, and I'm sure the car will be a great success.

I loved the humorous goings on in the background.

Mine will!! He's already earmarked the original one in his wish list (hard to get and expensive on EBay). He's nuts about cars and I know for sure it will be star of the show at one of the many "car shows" he puts on on the living room floor, and it will also no doubt be used giving rides at the next school fete he organises to raise money for a sick child (all in his Playmobil world). He can't put on the school summer fete until I buy him a 7859 Carousel, apparently

Great to see the review of the car, Tim.  Glad I didn't pay over the odds for the last one I saw on EBay.

Children don't think like that, Alex.  When you want to get four or five knights quickly to the castle, then this car is ideal.

...on the subject of playmo cars , is there a review of the BMW Herpa Z4 car anywhere ?? I still hope playmobil makes one day a model car based on the most iconic german car ( the 911) , i am sure that would sell a bit !!!!

Yep, four seated and one jammed in somewhere in an undignified manner.

Thanks for the review Tim.

I think I like the older version color better. This green and red just seem odd. I will still get a half dozen of them but I  may have to paint some of them to more appealing colors like silver, black, gray, maybe a chrome one  etc.....

I am also glad all the parts will be available for the incomplete old ones I have
