This thread was inspired by Bonnie's thread, who inquired about one being auctioned on ebay here:
http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=8030.0
I promised I'd make a review of the books I have (some of them not shown by Sylvia in that thread)
So here we go, starting with some figure shaped ones. I have four myself, which I got brand new on ebay Canada a few years ago...it's a rescue crew member, a knight, a pirate and a firefighter - as far as I know there's also a cowgirl but every time is shows up on ebay it's loose and I want it with its original packaging just like the ones I have:
this is the size:
and when you open them...the stories inside these books are much shorter than the following ones, and I think they're addressed at very little kids
(http://img27.imageshack.us/img27/6549/35051282.png)
-
next are the pop up ones, four of them. Sylvia mentioned these in the other thread. Here's what the look like inside.
They very fun to read and 'play' with ;D
(http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/162/58570351.png)
-
the next four are also pop ups and have pull tabs - they're just different themes and they include a figure to play with during the reading
the inside:
this story features the first playmobil dragon :D
-
they are very nice i have most of them ... you won't make the review for the victorian book?
-
the next four are from similar themes - however they're bigger and the format is different:
what you see isn't actually the book, it's a folding playing board to put stickers on...the book itself is smaller and it comes inside.
i also bought all of these brand new but these particular two originally came in a plastic bag and with a carry on handle (i've no idea why the first two didn't come like this)
-
(http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/3186/75432374.png)
oh we don't care about the others we want to see how the victorian looks like inside... :munch: :munch: :munch: :munch:
i want that desperatly :hissyfit: :hissyfit: :hissyfit: :hissyfit:
-

omg you're so impatient! >:( ;D just kidding - that was in the next picture! :D ;)
this is what the unused content looks like:
and this is the book with the stickers already applied - they all are completely reusable, they're made of a specific kind of plastic that will always allow you to stick it on the playing board - so no figures here but the stickers do the fun part :)
Alex, I took this picture for you, I thought you'd like to see the dollhouse - it's not the original design of the house, it was adapted to the cardboard shape, but still is fun:
and the actual book, which is small as I previously mentioned, with the story about the dog of the house (Buddy)
-
Oh, that one is really cool!!!
-
how nice it is ... do you have more pictures of the book also
-
how nice it is ... do you have the book also or only the cover and the stickers?
there's a picture of it above :yup:
I think I'm going to have to take pictures of all pages for you :P
-
next two, similar format but in larger pages - also gift figures inside a storage tray on cover of book :D
(http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/6895/20344339.png)
and some pages inside...I have to admit that I haven't really read most of them :-[ :P
(http://img864.imageshack.us/img864/372/95486241.png)
-
I think I'm going to have to take pictures of all pages for you :P
yes please if you don't mind :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[ i'am crazy about this series :o ;D
-
the western theme is present in most of these different kinds of books - this time it was not the exception, and the coolest (and biggest) book is this one, which actually is also a folding scene for kids to recreate the story of the book (which is actually the smallest one :hmm: :P)
opening it (see actual book on the right)
the story
(http://img851.imageshack.us/img851/1466/60646448.png)
the playing scene, to either recreate the story with the klickies it comes with or just to use it for whatever western idea you have :!:

that's it for the official Playmobil books :)
I just ordered two more that I don't have (the fire fighters and the construction one), and I'll do a review of them when I have them on my hands :D
last but no least, Richard Uglik's book, which is very special for me (see below why)
what makes it a true collector's piece: it was autographed by himself :D
and with personalized dedicatoire <:> <:> <:>
(many thanks to my French friend Stéphane who I met through Playmoboard back when the book was released - Richard told him about me and he sent me the book with his signature :))
The message is both in Spanish and French:
I'm SO thankful to Richard for the nice detail - I want to get the Animal book so badly!
-

I bought it on ebay in 2004 - it was quite common to see it there back in the day, I'm not sure how rare it is these days ???
I also have a victorian wallet...that one IS rare I think, it's on the collector book (last edition). I'll also make a review of that kid of promos later in the week :)

-
Awesome collection Luis :-)
I think it's amazing that I never knew there was such an extended line of books without me knowing about it. Oh well...it would be great if they would make more of these IMO, so many opportunities.
-
Thank you Gis :)
Alex, I'm sorry to hear that - how do you pay on Amazon? do you provide your credit card # or is it all through PayPal?
did you get your money refunded already?

I meant 'remind' them about the issue (damn English language can sometimes be very confusing 8} ;D)
you're not suppose to remind them about anything, that's their job, but seeing the situation you should try ::)

i don't know if it was insured :-\ how can i check that? i asked who sighned they said " my name" ... i didn't sighn another thing i find weird is that other people can sighn for your packages (withought id card -passport etc..) and receive them withought your permision ,when i was missing from the house my cousin or my aunt signed for them ???
-
Yeah, I've always thought that was weird. It doesn't matter who signs for it as long as someone does.
-

:hmm: :hmm: :hmm:
how can a stranger sign for your package ? :hmm: in my case it's convenient for me because i'am not there and i know who takes them ... but what if it falls in the wrong hands? ???
-
I really don't know. Unless the person is so dumb they sign their own name, and then you can track down who they are.

i guess it's a matter of honesty? i personally wouldn't sign a package that is not addressed at me (or at someone from my family), without previous notice or permission - not only are you being dishonest but you're also putting yourself at risk...what if there's a bomb inside?! :0 ;D

That island was one of the best surprises.. The box doesn't do it justice at ALL.
And regarding books.. how about this one: Annual 1979 (http://www.playkingdoms.com/temp/playmobil/bookfront.jpg)

It's packed in unknown whereabouts (part of one of the playmomountains, most likely) - but I think I have a couple more pics of it. I'll hunt it down..
-
please do if you find them :)

what do you mean? :hmm: :hmm: justice?
-
It's an expression. It means the picture on the box looks good, but in person it looks waaay better. The picture doesn't show just how great it is.

Thanks - that's it exactly. We were never attracted to it, looks kinda lame in the box, until the day it was the only one we didn't have in the supermarket, I think... BIG surprise. It's GREAT!
The book.. Really bad pics... From one of those old Sony Mavica that used floppy disks! In 2000, apparently.
