I purchased this lot on Ebay...I'm wondering now if it was foolish.
It has missing pieces in all the sets but I figured I could find them later. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to put what I paid for the lot on here, so if I'm not, please advice...it was buy it now, and with shipping it came to $199.00. It has 40 figures in the lot. Here is a link to the item page.

Was I foolish in this purchase? Is it not a good deal as my excitement seemed it to be? Please let me know your opinions. Thank you.

Well, how incomplete are they? I would probably have payed that or close to it, depending on whether they are missing major pieces, or just small accessories. The zoo set, which is retired, usually goes for over 100 by itself, even incomplete. The airplane is about 50 brand new, usually around 30, 35 used. That house is retired, so depending on how much furniture is with it, can cost you a good bit, and then throw in the pirate ships and other sets, I'd say it's a fair price.

I saw this listing!
I, personally, wouldn't consider it a bargain. That said, if you were wanting these sets, it's probably worth the money. Also, you'll only have to pay one shipping fee! That's probably BIG savings!
One might pay $100 just for the discontinued modern house alone. And, perhaps, another $50 for the plane. Hmmm, maybe I'd consider a bargain after all!
I've really no idea what the pirate stuff might go for, but it looks nice.
Seems like a good lot, so no need for remorse here! Just look forward to your BIG package!

Thanks for your comments. I don't have any of these sets so it will be all new to me. I think it is mostly missing little bits here and there. I suppose, since I've already paid for it, I should be happy! ;D And I will be excited to find it on my porch in a few days. Thanks again for your comments. I feel better!
Take Care

It sounds like it was a fair deal. Those items are heavy so shipping could have been really high.

For a bit of perspective, here's another modern house, just listed.

For such a diverse lot, considering original prices, and current ebay prices, plus combined shipping, I think this is ok! Heck you could pay 80 euros for the two ships alone...

I will agree with Sir Wolf. But to make things better i advice to go frantic playmo selling fro a bit , but quite a few complete sets and then yuo will feel a lot better I guarantee this

House $100
Cabin $30
boat $10
ship $20 each
zoo $75
Castle $25
Plane $20
Total = $300-ish used
total new is close to $500
Now like stated you really saved on shipping the most some would be $10 and some as high as $25 so average them at $15, times 8 items = $120-ish
Not worth popping a cork over but nothing to cry about either, you did fine

Thanks everyone! Wow, this is a really great community. I'm going to like it here :)

Looks like a good haul to me, I particularly covet the beach patrol boat, I haven't seen that before but it would complement my "Baywatch" lifeguards theme.
You need to think about what sort of collector you will be. Do you need to have complete sets, or will you just mix and match as you go along? Some folks here are keen to have complete sets and go to great lengths to replace lost parts, then box it all away and never play with it. Others open a new set and immediately add all the small parts to their stock bins. Most are somewhere in between. If you plan to play with it all, does completeness matter? Then again, some sets seem a little light on the small parts and people add their own to make a more rounded set.
In time you'll likely acquire bits you have no use for and can trade for those missing parts.

yes you will but your bank account will not :P

I suppose that is a good question Martin. I intend to let my little girls just play with the stuff. They are careful with everything they do and have a healthy respect for toys, which is odd for kids I know, but there you are. I think I will probably resell a few of the items in this lot and pick up some of the missing parts, but not all.

You sound like me! I've bought lots of Playmobil knowing that bits are missing, and as long as the missing bits don't affect the "playability" I don't worry too much. Having said that, though, I put in a massive order for spares earlier in the year to get some of it up to scratch as my son is now old enough and wise enough to realise that he's been short changed (and he's only 5, but he's got three years' catalogues and my Playmobil Collector book for reference now!!).
I occasionally buy odd lots of odd bits on EBay however, as I find that as children move on to X Boxes they are encouraged by their parents to fund the new habit with the sale of old toys. The parents have no idea what they are selling and end up with a pile of odd bits of Playmobil that don't seem to go with anything. I tend to buy these and use what I can. I've just got a lot of oddments which appear to be the bits you remove when you give a small child Playmobil for the first time - cuffs, hats and other assorted bits which are likely to be pulled off and go up into the hoover the first time they are played with.
I think you've done pretty well with that haul.

I enjoy looking for bits and bobs on ebay that I am missing... ;D

I agree. I think that the only regrets are the purchases that you don't make and regret later :-\ After time goes by, you won't even remember how much you paid for that lot. The only thing you will likely feel is the satisfaction of having the pieces in your collection. Don't think or regret; just enjoy! 8-)

Not a bad deal in my opinion. The red corsairs are 50 bucks each on DS. I think you did just fine.

I think I will probably resell a few of the items in this lot and pick up some of the missing parts, but not all.
DS - Direct Service from Playmobil will supply what is missing but you need to ask 1) do I really NEED all the mising pieces? (yes, they're nice to have, but you can get more and others elsewhere) 2) do the missing items really take that much away from the play value? 3) if you start selling things then you won't have as large a collection ... ;D
