Hi
Just found piccies of new USA-exclusives on "Klickywelt", posted by member "Vampeta". Not my theme, but I think the bus is quite nice
(as Vampeta wrote in a post on Klickywelt that he obtained the pics copyright-free, I didn't go through all the pm-ing again to ask permission to repost them here, like I did last time)
-
:omg: :omg: :omg: A schoolbus!!! :yippee:
That's so exciting! How come klickywelt knows about US exclusives before we do? Thanks for sharing!
-
Alright :yippee: finally an American styled truck
The school bus is interesting, we call those "the short bus"
Is there any new items in the Hospital?
How come klickywelt knows about US exclusives before we do?
Yes but we get to buy them ;)
-
Very true!
-
well this is exactly what I said in the other thread. I had seen them somewhere. Im glad someone else found them!
and I was not that wrong about beeing exclusive... I just thought they were ToysRus. :P
-
I do not know about other areas but we here have not used those type of garbage trucks for many many years. We have the type with the hydraulic arm that grabs the can on the street and lifts it up to the top of the truck only requiring one operator. This type of truck requires more labor as you need to physically attach the can to the back and hydraulically lift it up. I have not seen this system for over 20 years now. Geobra sure knows how to stay classic
-
Well, having a hydraulic arm at all is an improvement. We seem to have skipped this type of truck in our area. Until five years ago, both garbage and recycling trucks had operators who would pick up the stuff by hand and throw it into the truck. And now they have the hydraulic arm on the side that lifts them straight from the curb.
-
OMG!!! i want that school bus so badly!!! :o
thanks monsieur Hadoque for the link 8-)
-
I know it is weird but I have been waiting for playmobil to make this type of truck cab for ever. I was always admiring Manu's custom trucks (http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=3960.0) but did not want to make one. Finally geobra :woohoo: but look more closely at Manu's long haulers for the future US exclusives please :P
I hope that bus does not have sounds and hard wheels like that hideous fire truck. It looks like it has lights or is that deceptive box art again ?
-
A school bus! Excellent! I would have preferred a full size bus, but I think it's an improvement over the other school bus. And it should be much more affordable!
Now, when/where can we expect to get these items?
-
Toys R us would be my guess! But I guess we'll have to wait and see. Hm, I may have to go to TRU this weekend and see....
-

If I hadn't just been there last night, I would go check now! Maybe that's why they've clearanced some stuff -- to make room!
-
I hope I'm wrong but the garbage truck reminds me of the chinese firetruck with the hard plastic wheels. The short bus could be too.
-
Yeah... I was wondering what the quality will be like, too.
-
oh I want those vehicles so bad :'( :'( :'(
If the back comes off the garbage truck easily, then theres no end to the possibilities of customisation! :o :o :o
Damo :)

Does anyone know what it says on the sign board of the bus. On the bottom is says "SCHOOL BUS" but what is above it ? My translator says school bus in German is "Schulbus" and it does not look like that. The small buses we have only say School Bus and nothing else so I was curious as to what this is.
-
"Écoliers" = schoolchildren.

It looks like "Ecoliers" to me, which would be one way to say "school children" in French. This set may be destined for Canada as well as the U.S.
Dang it, Heather, you beat me to the punch!
-
Thank you both :*) Heather for the translation and Indianna for the reason behind it :wow: If I could only bring myself to removing anything original :-[
-
It looks like it might be a sticker - if so, and if you have to apply it yourself, you could just cut it in half. If not a sticker, you could possibly cover the word "ecoliers" with a piece of electrician's tape.

If it is printed I though of making a custom yellow sticker to cover the whole thing up and print the words in a bigger font.
If it is a sticker then yes I will cut it and order a spare.
I do not know why but for some reason when I read the word "ecoliers" I think of a bus load of kids contaminated with the bacteria Escherichia coli headed for the take along hospital ;D
I just really do hope this is made in Germany and not China like the Fugly Fire Truck, please Geobra do not make the same mistake twice, you know better  or at least learn from your mistakes and demand the Chinese to make it with much higher standards
-
Enjoy the pics I posted as long as you can or save them on your PC, I'm getting PM's about all the "copyright"-issue again. ::)
-
The box of the garbage truck even looks like the chinese firetruck box. The front end of the trucks looks exactly like the front end of the chinese truck.

It's actually a Canadian school bus as it has French as well as English (our two "official" languages). It's also the same style and colours as the Canadian ones (that have been adopted in the USA).
Same with the garbage truck.

It looks like the labels and captions on the boxes are in English and French. In Canada boxes have to legally have both official languages printed on packaging. Obviously, these boxes are designed for sale in Canada.

why? these don't even seem to be pictures taken by a fan, they look company-made (toys r us maybe)
it's stupid those folks ppl never want to share anything
-

I agree. "You used a copy of my stolen picture!" whine, whine, whine.
I am more than happy to copy them and put them up under my name and if anyone whines about it - I can give them my home address and they can come and talk to me in person about it.
If they can't be bothered with that, it's obviously not important enough.
It is ridiculous how people sit behind their computers anonymously and try to act in ways in which are completely counter to what they would be like in real-life. Sadly, talk is cheap.

lol you're my hero WM! :D
if they're so worried about their pictures being copied why don't they just put their name on them? or simply they shouldn't post them... ::)
-
I want me that school bus- and better pics of the clinic...
-
Great new sets! Thank you for the information! Looking forward to seeing them here!
-
Yeah, I don't even care if it's chinese junk! I just want a school bus!
-

Yeah, I agree, that's what I answered. I feared the moderaters here might get contacted to remove the pics.
It wasn't Vampeta (my source on Klickywelt) who PM'd me about the copyright, but a German Klickywelter who is registered here as well.
I won't remove the pics, they'll have to sew me in court if they want.
I immediately wrote here from who (Vampeta) and where (Klickywelt) the pics originated, and I - almost simultaniously to posting the pics here - wrote on Klickywelt that I was posting them overhere.
IMHO That should be enough, no? :hmm:
Or do I have to let my lawyer make an official contract with the German guys' lawyers everytime I show here a pic of a new set they found first ??!! >:(
I could spare myself the trouble of spreading new information (not necessarily discouvered myself) to fans on other forums, but if everyone stops passing on info it would turn out really nice for the relationship between the Playmobil communities... One forum f.e. having pics of a new theme, and not wanting to pass on the info to the other forums..."nahnahnahhéhéhé" ::) .
Though we still "play" with a toy, we aren't in kindergarden anymore I should think.
And then there's an Official Collectors' Club lurking around the corner, I'm already wondering how passing on information obtained from there will be treated. Hopefully one won't have to fill out a stash of documents and sign eleventhirty contracts for passing on 1 picture.
-
I want me that school bus- and better pics of the clinic...
I think the clinic will make a fantastic dentist's office for my 3762. The hospital stuff from it could go into the actual hospital.

That's an excellent idea!

Cool!
The school bus really is fantastic! :o
Thanks for sharing, Hadoque! :)
Too bad you get these PMs, esp. if vampeta has no problem with your repost. ::)
best,
socrates
-
Oh wow!!! These are sooooo great!!!!!
Thank you for bringing them to our attention!
-
a school bus? This looks so Simpson....JUST LOVE IT@@!!!!!!!!!!
and thanks for the pics...
-

I noticed this as well :( :prays: please no, not on these neat sets, we have plenty of other choices with the fire truck but this is our only modern option with these two
Maybe they confiscated the mold and are using it in germany :P
I understand people wanting to protect their property but this belongs to Geobra and it is in their best interest to circulate these images. If it was an image of a diorama that someone created I would agree that it is polite to ask, but this is just a box.
What are they upset about ? not getting credit, do they want money, is it a forum competition, what is the problem?
-
I guess this one won't be Chinese?
The image was posted on "Klickywelt" by member "Vampeta", and...
I HAVE HIS WRITTEN PERMISSION TO POST THE PICTURE HERE !! ;D
-
Wow a nice colored private jet
Thanks for posting all the pictures and taking the heat from other forums Hadoque :wow:
Is there any way to find out what the problems are about this picture issue? I do not think we should be criticizing anybody with out knowing more and I think negative comments will only fan the flames :**:
-

Yes, I agree! We don't want to get a forum rivalry going here. There is no reason to assert that the forum as a whole doesn't want to share pics with our foum; that probably is not fair, or at least we don't know if that's the whole story. I get the idea it is one or two people raising these questions.

Hmm... though I mostly refrain myself to reading the news-, pirates/soldiers- and customs-sections on the German forum, and I usually avoid discussion-threads there (I speak German well but not well enough to take part in heated discussions), I get the impression it is "the forum".
Rules to post pictures on Klickywelt are quite severe!
You have to demonstrate you have the copyright to post them, otherwise only thing allowed is a link. It happens now and then that pictures of new sets are posted on Klickywelt, and that a few hours later they're gone before most people had a chance to see them, because of the poster not being able to prove owning copyright.
When one downloads those pictures from there and posts them here, well, some people get a bit upset. Usually not the original poster, but I believe people from the administration of Klickywelt or associated with it... "Deutsche Grundlichkeit" (German thoroughness) I suppose.
Oh, and "don't mention The War". ;D

One of my favorite Fawlty Towers episodes ever!!!

@Hadoque: Of course you're right about the strict rules at KW to post pictures and i'm really tired about those endless and pointless discussions about copyright on pictures of boxes with toys for children. Imho only geobra has any copyright on all of that and not anyone who photographed a "retailers only"-catalog.
On the other hand i can understand the Mods at KW a little at this point because german law allows to make the owner of a forum liable for any copyright infringement of the users. There were lots of those cases in the last years where people had to pay ~2500 Euros for using a picture of a stupid tomatoe(!!) they found at googles pic-search for example.
This selfish thinking not to spread informations about new sets through other forums or the international community makes me sad. But fortunately not all people (not even all germans) think so... ;)
-
Zookeeper, thank you so much for this explanation! Interesting to know the laws in Germany about copyrights are stricter. That explains why the mods at klickywelt would be concerned over these things. Maybe we just need to have an ambassador between the two forums, to help work these things out. :P
-
I think thats an excellent proposal Bonnie!!

Sounds like they need to move hosting of their forum to another country so they don't have to worry about such things.

Thanks for the view/explanation! :)
I noticed the mods on Klickywelt are maintaining a stricter attitude on the subject, but I hadn't read threads on the matter thoroughly. I had no idea German laws are that strict! :o
Having to cough up 2500 euro for posting a pic of a tomatoe, available online through Google!! 8} 8}

A few kilometers to the left and they should be fine.
-
-
& to hear people say USA laws are ridiculous! ;D You would think that free publicity for new merchandise being exchanged between forums would be welcome! Just look @ how many people even here are excited, & counting their pennies to purchase the new sets being shown, bb especially, looking at buying a fleet of school buses :giggle:!
-
;D Then I can have field trips descending on my zoo! :yup:
Though I HATE field trip day at the zoo. :hmm: "LOOK!!! IT'S A GIRAFFE!!!!" And the giraffe promptly runs and hides.
-
I want a school bus too... although I hated school... and had the worst expirience in my early years at school on the school bus... I had to ride it for two hours every day... :(
-
I never had to ride the bus to school, so for me school buses meant field trips!
-
we should take a bus back to this thread
-
Oops. :-[ Did it again, sorry!
-
;D Just as I was about to write I had to get up at 6 because the bus was picking me up at 7 and arrived at school at 8 and then we finished school at 2 and the bus was arriving home at 3 .... oh well back to our topic...
-
Just out of curiosity, the number of the garbage truck is 5938, and the school bus 5940 :hmm:
Does that mean that there's a 5939 to come?
The number of the take along set is 5953, and the plane 5954, so are there a hole load of sets to come between them? or am I just hoping? (not that I can get any of them anyway :()
(if they are going to be their official numbers)
Damo :)

Okay, just so we know what type of bus it is supposed to be (the school bus). It is a Girardin Micro-Bird. It is (and was) made in Drummondville, Quebec, Canada by Girardin Mini-bus Inc.
It was bought by Blue-Bird in the USA and remarketed as their own.
Here is some info about the company:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Girardin_Minibus (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Girardin_Minibus)
The specific model is based on the first one used on the Ford Canada E-350 frame as well as GM Canada's frames.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:%2700-%2702_Ford_E-350_School_Bus.JPG (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:%2700-%2702_Ford_E-350_School_Bus.JPG)
Here is the latest model made here in Canada by Girardin (you will notice the roof isn't as curved at the front anymore, so the Playmobil model is of the ones made until 1999 - you will also see the front end of the Playmobil one does not resemble the grills on either the Ford Canada or the GM Canada base model versions. Most likely so they would not have to pay royalties.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Blue_bird_micro_bird_by_girardin_1.jpg (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Blue_bird_micro_bird_by_girardin_1.jpg)
They were also made in Brantford, Ontario, Canada from 1975 - 2007.
http://www.brantfordexpositor.ca/ArticleDisplay.aspx?archive=true&e=699460 (http://www.brantfordexpositor.ca/ArticleDisplay.aspx?archive=true&e=699460)
Blue-bird figured they could make the school buses in the USA, so they tried that for less than two years before coming back to Canada to admit they needed Girardin to make them for them (see news release below)
FORT VALLEY, Ga. (October 19, 2009) – Blue Bird and Girardin are pleased to announce a joint venture between Blue Bird and Girardin Minibus. This new partnership, effective October 14, 2009, will consolidate Blue Bird and Girardin Minibus Type A bus products and distribution into one entity. “Girardin’s complete Type A bus line is a perfect complement to Blue Bird’s complete Type C and D bus product lines and ensures our Dealers can offer our mutual customers the best in a complete family of Blue Bird school and activity bus products,” said Greg Bennett, President and CEO of Blue Bird Corporation.
The new entity, located in Drummondville, Quebec, Canada, will be named Micro Bird, Inc. and will be exclusively responsible for the design and fabrication of all Blue Bird Type A school buses, activity buses and commercial buses,” offered Steve Girardin, President of Micro-Bird, Inc. All Type A products, branded Blue Bird Micro Bird® by Girardin, will be exclusively distributed and supported by the Authorized Blue Bird Dealer Network.
The combination of Blue Bird’s 80+ years and Girardin’s 50 years in the bus industry make for a strong and driven partnership, and everything derived from it will be of great benefit and success to Blue Bird, Girardin, our Dealers, and most importantly the customer. The Blue Bird and Girardin teams have initiated efforts to successfully integrate products and processes to ensure a smooth and transparent transition for customers.
Blue Bird, Girardin and their Dealers have, over the years, built and earned strong reputations for quality and leadership which will continue with the new Blue Bird Micro Bird® by Girardin.

I've worked & wrote collision estimates on these small buses in the past. Most of the time they were church buses converted from used school buses. The most usual repair estimate I wrote was due to low clearances in fast food drive throughs. 13' doesn't fit under 10' very well! ;D

What an awesome idea! (I'm thinking out loud) Buying one of these (a real 1:1 scale one) as a Playmobil search and rescue vehicle! It could hold lots of blue boxes and plastic tubs (you take the seats out) and you could travel from garage sale to garage sale.
You could also keep them in the bus when you weren't out actively searching so your spouse wouldn't complain (as much) with all the new sets you've bought.
-

Ras could really utilize this idea! With all of the windows in a bus like that, at least he wouldn't forget that he hid his Playmobil in there! ;)
-
the bus is great ! thanks to share . we want one ! if someone live in usa , my daughter and i will be glad to be helped ....
-
I'll be glad to help, Jeremy, as soon as it comes available. :)
-
many thanks bonniebeth !!! if you need french box or other things ; i will be glad to help you too ! my daughter love this bus (in france they don't look like this ) and i'm thinking of freddy kruegger when i see that ....
-
You're welcome!
-
you can't imagine how i'm glad to read that bonniebeth .....

When are these supposed to be on the market, anyway?

That's a good question! I hope sooner than later. :P

my daughter love this bus (in france they don't look like this )
what do school buses look like in France?
or in Europe in general? I guess this set is a US exclusive because this kind of vehicle isn't popular in Europe?? ???
-
hi ! i think this kind of bus is typiquely from usa or maybe england , in france it's bus like that and they're not made especially for childrens http://www.playmobil.fr/on/demandware.store/Sites-FR-Site/fr_FR/Product-Show?pid=3169-A&cgid=2004

Do they at least paint them with the traditional skool bus yellow :P I guess a European scool bus would be a paint job away if they are.
-
i don't remember to have seen a yellow bus in france since i live in france ,(maybe they're some but ..) you know where this tradition comes from ?
-
Yellow is supposed to be a more attention getting color for safety reasons. Now in addition to being painted school bus yellow, there are strict safety rules requiring refective tape to be put on the rear & sides of school buses.
-
These look great. It would be great if the School bus was R/C compatible. A couple questions:
1) When can we expect these to become available?
2) Can someone explain the problem with the Chinese firetrucks? Were they simply made with inferior plastic? Aside from an old boat, I don't have any Playmobil vehicles, so I have no point of comparison.
-
it seems so far nobody knows the release date, mwilbury :-\
i too can't wait to know though :P
-
Is there any new items in the Hospital?
Yes but we get to buy them ;)
yes, a cellar for the dead people where u can dump them 8}
-
:0 Ah! Morbidity in Playmoworld!!!
-
so, has anybody seen these listed for sale yet ? I hope this is not more for the mysterious list like the confederate blister pack
-
No, I haven't seen them yet. I've checked TRU today. What's that other company that gets exclusive sets every year? Is it costco?
-

The only set I remember at Costco was the big farm set. Target used to get them but when the food area came in they cut the toy department by 25% and playmobil got the ax. hmmmm
-
There was a safari set and a firefighting set recently from costco.
-

How is the confederate blister pack mysterious?
Didn't you get them in the usa at TRU too?
-

So that's what happened. Too bad, that was one easy way to get cheap Playmobil. :-\
-
It's getting more & more difficult to get Playmobil around places here! Just a few brick & mortar shops, TRU, Playmobil online, & eBay.
-

No, I did not ever see 5799 (http://playmodb.org/setpics/5799.jpg) at TRU.
There was a safari set and a firefighting set recently from costco.
Do you recall the set #'s. don't tell me if it was a set with the classic steck building similar to the $29 Target 5759 (http://playmodb.org/setpics/5759.jpg) you will just make me cry and that is not pretty ;) I am still kicking my self for not buying dozens of them, I sense a tear forming :(
-
didn't Target also carry exclusive sets? (at least they did a few years ago)
it's very frustrating not to know more news about these sets, it's been a while... ??? :( ???
-

No nothing exciting like that! If my memory serves me correctly, iy was this set: http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=5879 and this set: http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=5922 I'm still kicking myself for not getting that safari set, as now I have to pay evilbay prices for it. It has the old style tree in it that I would love to have a few of, plus I could use that baseplate.
-
that baseplate has too little water for so many animals!!
-
didn't Target also carry exclusive sets? (at least they did a few years ago)
Yes they used to get them before TRU and early on they were the only ones to get some of them.
I'm still kicking myself for not getting that safari set, as now I have to pay evilbay prices for it. It has the old style tree in it that I would love to have a few of, plus I could use that baseplate.
I like the jeep as it does not have some "ZOO" decal printed on it. I have never seen the leafless tree. Not a bad little set and I bet the price at Costco was reasonable. I better keep a lookout for used ones now
-
that baseplate has too little water for so many animals!!
Very true! But I want it as an island for my gorillas. It's the same baseplate as a discontinued add-on for the train sets. I kept putting off getting it, and now I missed it. :-\

There's literally hundreds of new ones on ebay, it seems, but at twice the price costco had it for. :hmm:
-
Procrastination doesn't pay! ;)
-
Procrastination doesn't pay! ;)
Well according to TRU clearance it does ;D It is risky but the pay off is nice
-
Stopped by TRU today and my store had the bus and ambulance. My 11 month old really liked the bus! Both were $19.99 and I came so close to buying the bus, especially with the 20% off.
Now I feel like buying the school, the bus, the gym,....geez, does it ever stop? ::)

I am finding it hard to resit a few things myself! I am trying to find the hospital there, or the new police station...and a lot of other things actually. I've walked around the store with a few sets I was only mildly interested in a few times, only to talk myself out of them at the last minute. I'm an addict. It's official.

Stopped by TRU today and my store had the bus and ambulance. My 11 month old really liked the bus! Both were $19.99 and I came so close to buying the bus, especially with the 20% off.

Wait, you mean the new school bus?! Really? :D

yep, it's cute, really wanted to get it but I spent soooo much on Playmobil lately...now if the school had been on clearance I probably would have purchased both! :P

It still doesn't show on their website, strange. But that's great news! I'll be on the lookout for it, all you who are waiting for them!

They had only 2 buses and 1 ambulance if I remember correctly...unless they had more unpacked in the back. This store does such a poor job at selling Playmobil. I found some sets way out of reach and sight, above the shelves of different areas in the store. ::)

the bus is great ! thanks to share . we want one ! if someone live in usa , my daughter and i will be glad to be helped ....
If you really want one, I can get it for you. Right now it's $19.99 minus 20% + 5% tax. Pm me if interested.

Did the school bus have rubber wheels and is it made in Europe?
Also did you see the garbage truck ?

I ''think'' it had rubber wheels. Did not check where it was made. Will go back tomorrow because the price doesn't make sense. It said $19.99 for either bus or ambulance but the ambulance is a lot more on playmobil.com. No garbage truck in sight.

About the new school bus (5940). It is made on the same order as the cheap Chineese made firetruck. I bought one from TRU and took it back 2 hours later. The over all build is cheap and it is made with thin plastic and screws, not at all what diehard playmo's are used to. I wish playmo would stop sniffing the Chineese band wagon and stick to making what has been the best toy on the market for years.

Or is there anybody out there who would be so kind and ship it to me, after I payed him the money?
Thanks
