Since Playmobil is one of the most successful toys of all time nad has given billions of game hours to all the children of the world for many generations, given that ( and i wonder how many exactly up to date ) a number of billions of klickies have been produced YTD, i think we should as a club forward a partition to NASA to take in their next manned mission a klicky with them ( and which klikcy we shall have to think about a lot but i think it will have to be a klickyy with a message for peace or something like that , for all mankind...perhaps if this moves forward Playmobil makes a special klicky for that event like a special NASA astronaut with a messgae for all mankind type of think.... ) and we should inform Mr Horst about this idea.....
I would like to call it this the ' Klicky In Space ' mission and i think it ought to become our 'crusade' type of think !!!!! Who will join me in that ???? anyone ???? 0) 0) 0) 0) 0) 0) 0) 0) 0) 0) 0) 0) 0) 0) 0) 0) 0) 0) 0)

Wow, that's a very interesting idea, George. :lol: May I ask how on earth (no pun intended) you came up with that one? I do like it, though.
One problem I will point out, almost NOBODY in the US has ever even heard of playmobil. Not even toy store owners who carry it! :lol: I have yet to tell someone I collect playmobil and get back any response other than "what's playmobil?" So I'm sure the NASA engineers will never have heard of it. On the other hand, all the more reason it would be great to give them some publicity.

And lets not forget that in developing or third world countries as well as most counties in the middle and far east children have no clue what playmobil is.
I doubt NASA would be interested in such a venture, but if they ever do I propose the 4553 - Astronaut (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=4553)

I agree it's a fun idea. I think it should be 4634 - Astronaut (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=4634) though. That one is more like a real modern space suit.

4634 in my opinion. It's more modern for a modern space program. Maybe NASA would let Playmobil produce a shuttle :cloud9: if they see the quality they produce!

glad to see this crazy idea has support .
I have made a thread with the nominations for the Klikcy in Space and some additional info about the proposed next steps....
Please note that many years ago I sent an email to NASA asking them to consider sending a klicky in space etc etc but never got a reply. This time it will be done properly with a registed letter and the chosen klicky in it etc etc . Perhaps we get lucky and put that klicky in a deep space probe or something !!! That would be so cool , a klicky to travel the cosmos !!!! :) :) :)

Following my previous email , please enter your nominations for the Klicky In Space . It doesnt have to be an astronaut it can be something else. Please indicate the set this klicky is from , a picture/ link for it and a brief description. Once we have decided on the klicky we need to think of something we can sell to NASA, like this klicky represents a message for peace or somethign like that etc , we will discuss this after the vote for the klicky is completed and once this is also done ( klicky entries, klikcy chosen, message to go along with klicky ) then we shall focus in writing a brief and cool letter to NASA to accompany the klicky i shall sent them in registered delivery to their Director . All the way ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

Another thought is if the shuttle commander plucked the 4634 from his flight across the screen & said, "btw, this is Alan our Playmobil mascot!" ;)

The only way this to happen is if an astronaut personally (and clandestinely) takes a klicky in the cabin with him - and that's no small feat. NASA will NEVER approve any sort of commercial propaganda on their flights, unless it's an official investment in the project by the brand/factory. Even personal items, like watches (that are officially permitted on board), will be frowned upon if an astronaut is caught flashing it around where the public eye can see.

i will try to translate what is said:
"A little paper plane wit less than 1 meter, manned by a 10 cm playmobil astronaut reached the limits that separate earth's atmosphere from space.
The ship flied over an altitude of 27 km (90.000 feet), 3 times higher than a commercial jet.
But we should not applaud the small astronaut sitting in front of the paper plane but instead 3 british space aeronautics fans.
Neither NASA nor any big aeronautical company are responsible for this and there was no Cape Canaveral launch.
The launching site was Piedrahita, a small place in Ávila and the spaceship landed at Pelayos de la Presa (Madrid).
Steve Daniels, Lester Hines and John Oates designed the 90cm wingspan plane after they met eachother through The Register, a tecchnological website.
The project was named by its authors "Operation Paris" (the name of the city stands for Paper Airplane Released In Space) and its goal was to elevate the plane with the help of a helium baloon that made it go almost as high as 30 km and then released it already in the stratosphere.
The opening flight took place last October 28 and it lasted 90 minutes.
The airplane was baptized by its authors as Vulture 1, suggesting there will be some sequels, and it was equipped with 2 video cameras.
The spaceship descended with the help of a parachute and landed on a pinetree wood near a Madrid's small village located 100 km away from the launching spot.
The authors confessed that everything started up as a joke, but a 9.500 euros joke payed by a company called Peer One Networking.
"Our intention was to reboost Britain's space program" says Lester Haines joking.
Haines himself writes on The Register website "Our Playmonaut hero was the only one who could enjoy the magnificent view shown on the video".

Thanks for the info and links. However I WILL STILL contact NASA and pursue to take along in one of their space missions a klikcy , not in the edge of out atmosphere but in actual space . ;) ;) ;) ;)

I liked the crazy guy who jumped out of his balloon hits earth and goes for a smoke :lol: He must have had too much oxygen from his tank and needed to balance out his system :lol:
Perhaps if NASA is not interested the Russian will be as they go to space all the time and even live up there. Those poor fellers up there might enjoy some toys to play with

Last I heard NASA was shutting the shuttle program down. I'm not sure exactly what's going to replace it but NASA has had two launch failures of rockets that were supposed to be the new way to space. I think they will be hitching rides with the Russians to the International space station.

I too am not sure what they will be replacing it with.
I believe that is up in the ballpark (or however that saying goes)
What I mean is, the new designs will be new inventions! :D
They might go back to the Saturn program,
but I think it is unlikely.
Until then you are also correct in assuming
they will be hitchhiking with the Russians. ;)

I am not sure about the clickie population, but I believe I heard something about lego minifigs greatly outnumbering the human population on this green earth, by three or four times even.
Seeing how clickies are available in less countries but existed earlier than lego minifigures and have many sets dedicated to a single clicky, I am guessing there might be as much clickies as people in the world.
Might be a great question to ask Playmobil though, I am sure the company would know how many clickies have been produced, not counting the fatality rate amongst clickies.
