playmofriends forum ??? ??? ??? It seems that for some weird reason there is so far less posting these days and am I right seeing this or not, anyone knows why this is happening ?? I am most dissapointed with this ... :-\ :-\ :-\
-
Yes, I've noticed it too. Just one of those down times I guess. There are several members who usually post a lot who haven't been around very much, for various reasons. Some I know will be back, others I don't know what's going on. But hopefully everything will get back to normal soon.
-
... i hope we dont find out that many members here have all 'gone' to another forum. From my car forum days i remember there were elaborate attempts to achieve this and this was often happening seeing a sudden migration of members/users to another forum. i hope my suspicions dont prove right ...... :hmm: :hmm: :hmm: :hmm: :hmm:
-
yes, I did notice this, maybe the nicer weather in the north hemisphere has to do with it. people is spending more time out. :-\
the contrary is here, getting cold. but i love it! right now we are on the rainny season so there is not much OUT to go to.

I don't think this is the case, I haven't heard of anything like that. I know Alison (Bad Mum!) has remodeling going on right now, and that probably has her preoccupied (I know how that is). I know what's going on with a couple of other members too, and it's just things in their personal lives that can't really be helped. Hopefully they'll all be back with us and posting more soon. :)
-
I noticed that too, but I am sure noone is migrating ;D Hopefully there will be more activity soon!

Yeah i bet everyone is sick and tired reading continuously about my purchase frenzy this week !!!

I think it was a little more active than normal due to the Pilot Group for the last 6 months. Now that it has wound down many of those people aren't coming on any more or far less frequently. Maybe it's just the new old normal.

I am still here! :D
...but being busy with life and things. ;)

...and probably the reason why most memebers dont post so much!
-
I haven't been posting much lately, just odd things now and again, but that's just because I've been busy with craft fairs and produce markets. 8}
Hopefully after the 15th I'll have have more time to spare.

As a new series comes on-line I suspect you’ll notice at least a slight increase in activity.

Yes exactly, these are the triggers for the ebbs and flows
This happens all the time and does not necessarily mean people are abandoning ship
If there was a large exodus you would really know about it as those are usually triggered by large scale arguments/spats
-
Yes, that is true, and I don't know of any major problems. I think we're just less talkative lately. ;)
-
I am here too......but having less time to make replies on forum. Quite busy and running out of place to display playmobil!! The earthquake in JP also dent my mood on playmobil :'(

Another interesting question; ¿What percentage are lurking (even registered members)? I wonder, because my survival site has at least a dozen views a week, yet NO site activity (no page edits, no discussion posts, nothing). Clearly, people ARE coming, people ARE reading, yet not one seems to feel the need to comment.
Just a thought…
-
I'm still here, but admittedly mostly lurking when I do visit.
The combination of lots of stress at work, a cat not in the best of health, and a six week old baby has meant I don't have much time or energy to spare.
We also will have to move again in the next month or so (our land lord is selling the house out from underneath us, and we're not in a position to buy it), so even if I had the time and energy to do any customising, Steck building or fighting another battle, I think it's best to keep the Playmobil packed up for the moment.

I'm a lurker alright. There's nothing much I ever feel like replying to: I like to read the reviews and look at the customs, but apart from that, I never know what to say or do. It's a bit of a bummer that whenever a discussion starts becoming interesting - and a bit grown-up - it is stifled by the mod team. I know how a forum can go to the dogs because of trolling, flaming and so on, but I do feel that the mods here are overly cautious. Because of this and more often than not, this place ends up feeling like the town in that film, Pleasantville. It's a bit sinister because of that, too :) To have grown-up men discussing PM part numbers all the time. I know a lot of people come in here as a break from real life, and I know how stressful real life can be, but still ... there's only so much you can say about Yellow Dragon Knights and PM Trains.
It's still a very nice forum with very nice people, and I don't wish to be too criticial, but as I said, there's a limit to what you can discuss, unless you take the discussion on to another level.

Well, speaking for myself I come here to have a good time. I like the company of the people here, many of whom I consider my friends, and I share my love for playmobil. I do photostories, customs, reviews, ask, and if i can give, advice on playmobil items, parts, klickies accessories and the lot. And I know this is what we are supposed to be doing here. All these are more than enough for people here to participate. Many options you see. And if a general topic comes forth its welcome, within the allowed guidelines of the forum: http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=40.0
I believe Giorginetto's initial question was addressing the fact that there might not be a lot of activity towards the above purposes of this forum, not towards the opportunity to discuss more general issues. But good to know where you're at! :)
-
Yes.
As Ive said, Ive been a member of other fora that lost many members because of abuses, so I know what it's like to have total anarchy online :)
-
Being a new member I would love to have loads of time to browse the forum and post but unfortunately I am in the run up to my GCSE exams so most of my time at the moment is taken up with revision. However, once the exams are over and I have the summer holidays ( :woohoo:) I will definitely be more active.

Bolingbroke, may I recommend the playmo-free zone. There are often interesting discussions there about a variety of subjects, though always within forum guidelines, so as to keep the forum kid-friendly. However, this basically is a forum about playmobil, so it's natural and right that most discussions will center on, well, playmobil.
As to the mod team being over-vigilant, I can assure you we try very hard to strike a balance between being "the police" or letting issues go so long that things escalate to the point of members leaving over hurt feelings. However, sometimes there are things that happen behind the scenes, maybe PMed complaints, arguments between members, other issues that aren't publicly known that we are dealing with that may be factors in our decisions we make. Or sometimes these other issues are simply distracting us. It seems all will be quiet for weeks at a time, with nothing needing our attention, and then one day, five or six problems will come up all at once, leaving us all overwhelmed and stressed, as most of us are trying to handle these things while at the same time tending our real-life responsibilities. So if we seem to have been harsh or short in a decision, please try to cut us a little slack. We are only trying to protect the peace of the forum. You may not realize how badly some members need this forum to be a happy place they can turn to. Some are fighting different issues in their private lives, and really need to be able to come here and relax.

Just what the lady said ;)
-
Well said, bb!
This is definitely a light, fun, and relaxing place to hang out; and I do peek in on the forum daily. I can understand how things are quiet, though, since the furor of expectation caused by revealing the new themes is over and most everyone is in the lull of waiting for their release in the upcoming months or year.
In the spirit of Less is More, I am enjoying watching the kids' further exploration of the pieces and sets that they already have. Also, am looking forward to gifting a couple small additions that will make their appearance in the Easter basket! [Girl scientist w/baby dino and Egyptian archaeologist set for science-minded daughter, in case you were wondering.] I can't wait to see how they will 'fit in' and interact with the rest of the playmo-foster family.
In related anathema news, same daughter has discovered the fun of creating things with the basic pink lego brick set; we only have the small one but I can definitely see expanding with the larger set as well. There is room for both playmo and (basic, non-licensed) lego in this house. Totally different play experience! The lego 'people?' are odd at best but lego is more about the things you make rather than the interpersonal/interanimal interaction and story creation of playmobil.
Speaking of creating stories, has anyone else had fun using Rory's Story Cubes? We even do (horribly unskilled) drawing contests based on them!
Enjoy! tlc

I love the way you expressed the difference between playmo and lego! That is exactly it.
I think i mentioned in another thread, but not here, it seems from what a lot of people around the forum have said, that most of us are in a buying frenzy right now. We've been too busy buying and playing to post here!
-
At one point we had so many new threads every day it actually put me off, as I couldn't possibly read them all for content, and the titles people put were often inadequate to summarise the nature of the thread.
Thus I now tend to ignore thread titled "What do you think?" or "Look at this", preferring to spend my valuable time reading threads like "4086 Police Mega-Set review" or "Trains in my Garden", which give me some idea what i'm about to embark upon.
The usual spring slump is upon us with few new releases to talk about or review, I've got plenty of "nonline" activities like gardening to do, and still have hours of tidying and reorganising of my playmoden to do to make it even half-way decent. The vanishment of Playmobil from two major department stores in the last six months also means less exposure and less to talk about.
I've got several unopened sets I could review as they haven't been done by anyone else yet, but haven't had the energy or inclination to get round to them. I'd prefer to read more reviews by different Playmofriends, as other viewpoints about sets I might not buy myself are more interesting than writing my own opinions.
-
I've gotten loads of new sets I should have reviewed lately myself, but been too lazy or too busy to do it, not sure which sometimes!

eeerrr...same here ... i should be doing more reviews really but really want to push on with my mediaval project now that the train project is kinda completed as everything that was to be bought has been bought. i will be posting big progress pics next weekend as i plan to take an extra day off work to really push on with my mediavqal set up , complete the city and the barracks /royal quarters as i still have to set up all the dragonland sets, my existing yellow and green dragons, merry men , forrest and trees and of course the vikings !!!! so much more to do but once i complete the castle and its inhabitants i should be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel as they say and then once all set , start making some cool photostories and of course the mother of all sieges .......... ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)
-
I have been posting a lot less because I was traveling a lot. Last week I spend 8 days in Canada and the US (Including a Playmo Adventure with Ronastoo) and I am still recovering from the jetlag a bit.
Will be gone the whole weekend again, so not a lot of time to read/catch up post!
Should be better after the coming weekend!
-
I had a lot going on at work and some family matters. But I check in everyday. couldn't follow any of my photostories though. hopefully this weekend.... fingers crossed!
-
I try and look in at least once a day but don't always have anything to say! I have not had the money to buy anything for ages, so nothing to report about sadly :(
-
I'm also a bit more lurking then posting these days because I'm lately quite busy with... customizing. It's a bit difficult taking klickies apart and making new ones while typing. ;)
-
too quite these days .... :( :(.. i keep seeing many of my boring posts about redcoats and western everywhere and wanted items, perhaps if Giorginetto gets banned for a bit people will come back and post uh ????

I check in several times a day. I don't post a lot during the day because I can't see pics on my blackberry. I have been trying to spice things up with the Kingdom Map section with photos. I'm trying to make things interesting.

and you have Sir, after the much pointless barking of King iseroth and Krull and some pseudo empire invasion you posts have sparked a bit this neglected but so awesome thread that has so much potentil. if only i had my den near me and not 60km away i would post a photostory each week but i cant .. however your inoput has brought back to life this map thread !!!!

Hey George the next time you go to your playmoden, pack up a couple of boxes of klickies, and other props to have at your house to do photostories.

I want to biuld a massive british army !!!!!!! homage to the country i was born and raise and spent 70% of my life .... :wow:

Well, I'm here!!! Sort of
I haven't defected to another forum, and Bonnie was quite right, the builders have been taking over my life recently (thanks, Bonnie :))
They over-ran by nearly a fortnight, right into the school holidays which left me no time to unpack boxes, put the furniture back and get back to normal (isaac of course finds such mundane stuff even more boring than I do!). The new shelves in my "new" Playmoffice look great but we put linseed oil on them and it is taking forever to dry out (in spite of regular rubbing). Isaac has had a cough that has been keeping both of us up all night (the smell of linseed oil can't help) and we are all exhausted, my husband has been on 12 hour shifts so I have had no break from the trials and tribulations of parenthood/housework/unpacking and just when there was a light at the end of the tunnel, I realised it was some joker waving a torch at me ::)
My Dad had a heart attack last Friday so we were hospital visiting for the weekend. He was allowed home on Monday so we've been up and down to his house to check up on him (we stayed overnight on Monday and all day Tuesday but we got kicked out as he wanted peace and quiet). After ten days Isaac's cough has finally been diagnosed as a chest infection (rather than viral bronchitis) so he has antibiotics and will hopefully get better in time to go back to school next week ........ 8} 8} 8}
We have had some of the Playmobil out as Isaac was rewarded for his good behaviour while Grandpa was in hospital with a fire car and a police car (from the secret stash in the loft). I haven't got my flat surfaces ready for action yet, so not much other Playmo activity but I'll be posting a few photos hopefully over the next few days and we are also about to sort out our Easter display.
Or we might take advantage of the fabulous weather we are having and pop down to the beach or just get out and enjoy the sunshine.
I see there has lots being going on photostory-wise on here, so I'll probably just be reading rather than posting for a while. Seems I have a lot of catching up to do.
-
Wow, Alison! You really have had a lot going on. Sorry to hear about your Dad's heart attack. I wish him a speedy recovery! Is that his first heart attack, or did he have a know heart condition? I hope everything in your life returns to normal very soon. :)
-
Hey Alison!! Sounds like you had a really heavy and constantly moving program...
Wishes for speedy recovery to your dad!
How lucky is Isaac!! Two playmobil vehicles from the loft!!!
Good to hear from you!
-
Alison,
I wondered where you were!
Sorry to hear about all that's hit you. When it rains, it pours.
Sounds like things are looking up. Thank goodness!
Have a lovely Easter. :eggbasket:
-
It looks that after Easter the movement in the forum has reactivated!! :confetti: :confetti: :confetti:
-
:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
-
well its a birthing time of year :P
We also have had some new news on sets and that helps to drive posts, Go DS bus :apple:
-
Yep, it does seem things are returning to normal!

Well, there's "normal" and there's "NFG" (normal for George) ;)
Apparently in the medical profession, and also in social services, there are degrees of normal, so NFG is possibly a legitimate abbreviation :o

Yes so true. George is changing the "normal" parameters  once I was viewed as "out to lunch" but now I seem totally sane ;D Thanks George, for making me normal again :**:

Truth be told I am more of a lurker than a poster, I have only eighty odd posts in over three years, but I still pop in every now and to see what people have been doing. Life is very busy away from the forum, with two children and being a police officer I work a lot. I have not posted any pictures for a while, but hope to soon.

While reading up on some old post the other day your name came up and I was wondering wherever you went. Good to see you are still around Abbot :-)
