Title: My medieval Town
Post by: flatcat on November 28, 2010, 13:17:41
Hello

I had a sudden urge to get my Seck out, and to create something, so here is my medieval town.

Please excuse the missing walls and battlements :-[  (I ran out) :-[

Also, it may not be entirely historically acurate, but please bear with me :)

That's a great city, Damo, and you provide so much detail that the missing walls are easily imagined.  I like the klicky eye level photo angle and the excellent detail such as in the waggoner's workshop, it's just like the workshops you see in old photos of similar workshop in the 1800s.

Great work!

The church sits on the town square:

There are school classes on weekday mornings, adn then church events and ceremonys at weekends:

Wheelwright is what you're wanting.  One of my ancestors on my father's side was a wheelwright in Suffolk.

BTW, is the schoolteacher wearing a knight's helmet?  I've heard of tough schools, but that takes the prize!

That's awesome, Damo! I love all the details you put in, like the pile of unfinished project in the wagoner"s workshop. I wouldn't have thought of that! And yeah, you can easily imagine the extra walls. Really well done!  :)9

That's fantastic!

I wouldn't worry about historical accuracy with it - it's a toy - it is meant to be fun!  As long as you have fun with it.  That said, I didn't see anything historically unaccurate.

I really need to set up my Steck something like that.  My daughters would love it.

I have 'borrowed' a couple of ideas I have seen from others, and also included some of my own so that hopefully ideas can get round :**:

No more Easter eggs I'm afraid. Just a poor knowledge of the medieval period

i enjoyed visiting your town, i, too, also enjoyed the klicky-level photos that showed so much detail in the accessories you have arranged.  i didn't really notice any missing walls, as i was too busy looking inside all of the rooms.

This is beautiful Damo

I have always loved the Medieval Theme as I played with it when I was a child and should I not be crazy about the Victorian era as a period, I would have definitely gone for the Medieval Theme as I still find that it is one of the most beautiful Theme ever created in a toy range  :)

I would say side by side with the Victorian Theme

Yes, the carpet is really good. It is an ofcut from one of the rooms, but is just a nice colour for a dusty medieval town erm, ground I suppose :)

Unfortunatley, I have a soft spot for most themes! :-[ ;D
