My wife bought me the 4163 advent calendar last week ... and she wants me to open one window every day, instead of ripping the box to shreds and putting all the figures together in one go. ::) ::) ::)
I think she's crazy.
-
And you should have to wait 'till December 1st to start. 0)

If I got that great gift, I'd follow her rules! ;D

Mmm. I think I'll wait. I haven't opened the new crib either: I want to be closer to Xmas to do so. 0) 0) 0) 0)
I couldn't get this particular advent set from here - I wonder why. They had the 'classic' calendar with father xmas and the elf, and they had the barbarian one, but they didn't have the 4163, not even at the Fun Park. I wonder why.

You'd better wait as decided, so you will get great toys like that in the future ;)! If you disobey, it may be back to the underwear & socks gig for future Christmases with no Playmobil at all :o!

Santa only brings presents to good boys! 0)
So you know what you have to do.... ;D

M'y wife got me this set about a month ago when she came back from Switzerland. It is still unopened, but I think I will open it in one time on december 24 th!
Cheers

She only bought ONE? >:D
-
Heh heh. Unfortunately for us collectors, PM is not getting cheaper. Some days before that I spent close to 80 euro and only had the new crib and the lion knight sets to account for it. Sigh.
-
This will be here next year... >:( so I found and bought the knights on ebay a few weeks back ;D

Ok, that’s a good point.

Well yes, I have the forest calendar and if you do it one little box per day as you are supposed to do, some days, in the forest case, you just have a fox, or a plant to place....
I couldn't do it.... it would be so boring.
So wow I'm thinking, what is the meaning of these "one box per day" thing of the advent calendars? Does it have a religious root?

hmm... i don't know does anyone know if so?) i think they do it for children so every day they come from school to have a present ( this sounds a little stupid that i said)   anyway to see it as a game and wait anxiously for compleating the whole set i guess :hmm: :hmm: :hmm: :hmm:

There are 24 days until Christmas & opening 1 box a day gives children or "collectors" ;) something to do each day as the 25th day approaches to occupy their interest.

Oh so it is just a game....I thought it had some religious thing about it. Anyway, I LOVE calendars! ;D

Of course there is a religious meaning to it.

Not in the Playmobil's calenders content! Their purpose shows to occupy a child's attention toward the special final day. The items in this advent calender are not religious in nature.

I would end up losing all the little parts if I were to open one window each day. ::)
Ill wait till the 24th.

Each of my kids have an advent calendar and I hav eto say I much prefer the older ones where you open the little boxes. Some days the box contains a very boring item though. I might just erect the sets and give them a candy one this year (ps - we call candy/sweets lollies in Australia)

I think your wife is very nice and you should listen to her. At the end you know she is always right. Plus think of the little pleasures you will have everyday when you open a little box.

LOL. It is really hard to resist.....as soon as we got our advent calendar I scoured the back of the box to see what we would be getting, but my husband wanted to be surprised! As difficult as it is to wait, I like opening one each day and it is like getting a Christmas present every morning. What a fun way to extend the holiday.

Ive stuck to my resolution so far - I have one complete king, one complete baddie knight and half a lion knight out of their boxes so far. I didnt really like the way the parts fitted though, especially the king. I gave him the torso from the 3666 baron, and a pair of legs from the courageous knight special, and now he looks so much better. Same goes for the black knight - i had to change his legs because they looked so ugly. They can never get anything COMPLETELY right my god. ::) ::) ::)

Not specifically, no, but so much of the rest of Playmobil’s lines are (Nativity (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=5719)) that it’s kinda hard to believe it’s secular…

The fact alone that is called an "Advent" calendar makes it religious.
And that's not a bad thing.
