It costs 45 euro to post to Australia!

Ouch.... this is too much... But its only 18 euros to greece... ;)
Somehow I think greek post office rates are cheaper than the rest of the world....
-
18 Euro is still pricey methinks. Perhaps I can get 4-5 sets sent for 45 euro...perhaps I should be cheeky and ask!

:hmm: Don't know what kind of shipping this is.
Austria is next to Germany, not more far away from Australia. When I would send a letter not more than 2 kg it will cost 17,50. Doing the same with a parcel not more then 2 kg will cost 25,50.
If this sounds better to you, Lindama, let me know. ;)
You could ask Tiermann for a commendation about me. I have paypal and send him latley something! :)

From Germany to the UK a parcel up to 2kg costs 17 euro (and I think that's signed for). The same parcel going outside the EU would cost 35 euro.
I think of postage in terms of distance travelled. It's about 6,000 miles to Ausdtralia from Germany, I suppose, so 45 euro doesn't sound so bad.

Cost of shipping is weight times distance traveled; to travel transcontinentally the materials must also be transported by a system that burns fuel much faster, or travel so slowly that it takes much longer to get there, increasing the cost of the wages of those transporting them.
It sucks but until someone develops a real transporter, that’s the way it is- Of course, whoever develops the transporter will then demand so much money per shipment, it’ll end up being cheaper transporting them by mail…

I know Germany is very far away, but the UK is further and it costs much less (probably half)! I also used to buy a lot of stuff off a lady in Austria and it was no way near that price.
Shirona, that is terribly kind of you! Can I please take up your offer in a few weeks when it is nearer Christmas?

Of course, that'll be no problem. But I can't say how many days shipping will need. So don't wait until december!
