Hello from Ireland!
I always wanted Playmobil as a kid, but ended up with Barbie. :( Delighted to have a five year old who loves Playmobil (particularly disassembly), and a seven month old who is eager to eat them.
Looking forward to getting some ideas here.

You are very welcome to join in Rivka.
Children have been the excuse for many of us to get more Playmobil. Are you looking for any specific ideas? have any specific themes?
Let us know what you are looking for and I am sure there is some expert on the subject floating around somewhere!
Enjoy your stay!

Welcome from South Carolina USA, Rivka ! As others have already mentioned, you don't have to be ashamed of collecting this great toy line for yourself, but it's always great to have children as an excuse !

Hello from Paris Rivkah! My almost-a-year-old-daughter eats them too! I guess it tastes good ;D! Still if they're not 123, it's better to remove their hair to the playmos so she won't swallow it.
Welcome on board!
Cheers.

Glad to meet you.
I always wanted Playmobil as a kid, but ended up with Barbie. :(
A good friend told me exactly the same sad story about her youth a few days before. But it's never too late.
Have fun here.

Thanks, all, for the warm welcome.
Barbie wasn't so bad...but I'm still not that into clothes. And I had a very feminist mother and grew up in the seventies when toys weren't so horribly gendered. I love that Playmobil seems to live in a gender neutral section of the toystore.
Aside from a few 123s, we got our son his first Playmobil - the hospital bed - before having dental work done under GA. Playing beforehand seemed to make the hospital experience less scary.
He just started primary school yesterday and asked and asked for us to reassemble the school (we moved about six weeks ago - possibly to have enough room to separate the baby from the Playmobil -and everything is in disarray). He's not the type of kid who verbalizes his anxieties, and I find that the detailed little world of Playmobil helps him to talk about what he's feeling in life. Except for the parts where people shrink, get huge, or fly. ;).
He really enjoys watching the movies on Youtubr, so that may be our next project. After I seek everyones help in finding assembly sheets for our stuff (I kept recycling them, foolishly assuming they'd be available online). ::)

what an "awful" experience it was for me, too.... I was a real tommy boy and my parents hoped that if they gave me Barbie toys, I would become more girly... bleeeeeeeeeh
(and I kept using Barbie cars to make fabulous races in the corridors)
anyway, a warm welcoming hug from Switzerland, I hope you'll have fun with us!

Hi Rivka! :)
Welcome from the Scottish Highlands.
Watching your children play with Playmobil can be very insightful as well as entertaining. :yup: I often eavesdrop on the conversations mine make up when playing with their klickies.
I'm another one who wasn't lucky enough to have Playmobil toys as a child, primarily because they were never available in the Australian town where I lived. I was a tomboy too - played as much with Lego and Matchbox cars as I did with dolls. I think if Playmobil had been around when I was a youngster, I would have been nagging my parents to buy it and I'm sure they would have capitulated, especially as they are both German.
Have fun at PlaymoFriends and please visit us often to share your experiences. :)
