Isn't there a description on eBay with it?
-
I took a good look and the pic and it shows:
- white cuff
- black flag pole
- bugle
- park of a sticker with one or more red stripes, I guess an american flagg.
- black saddle
- yellow collar
The set nr is not in the guide, but it shows on the sticker of the picture.
Some kind of direct service set I think, probably involving ACW cavalry.?

Sets beginning with 7 are DS ones, although not all DS sets begin with 7.

I have just spotted the number quoted on a small white sticker Ali Baba mentioned - is this usual for playmobil/DS?

It is a strange ad anyway. The seller is in Haarlem Holland! But the ad does not appear on ebay.nl, even when I set it on worldwide search.
Furthermore he accepts paypall for the US but not for Europe!
And he is away till the 25 july.

This brings back so many good memories!! I had a lot of us cavalry klickies... now i have only 7 (old us cavalry klickies).... :( Most were thrown or given away... never had a western fortress either...now I have four!!! plus the extenstentions, plus the towers, plus the cannons.... and around fifty modern us cavalry klickies!!!! :D :D :D :D
The trumpet in this 7705 is great!!! and there is also an officers hat in there!!! fantastic set!!! really fantastic!!!
-
The set may look fantastic, but I'm almost sure that it is NOT genuine.
The two pictures show two DIFFERENT bags (One with the playmobil-Logo printed on the bag, the other without).
Especially in the second picture the "seams" of the bag look handmade. Maybe the seller uses a vacuum machine to "seal" his own DS-bags again and make quick profit by stating it was an official set.
I have NEVER seen a DS-set using such small stickers to be identified. There's almost always a much larger sticker with the geobra saftety stuff etc.
And a sticker using a four digit number (like the one in the picture) can't be hard to come by. - I would NOT give more than 3 Euros for a fake like this.
I think it's just another way of making money on ebay - even if some of the individual items are interesting.
-
The ad is admittedly a bit strange, but pic 1 shows that there is a bag within a bag.
The text says they opened the outer bag to show the contect, presumably pic 2.
-
Hm, I just had a look at my MIB (read: Mint in bag ) DS-sets. A genuine DS-bag with the logo printed on it leaves a margin (about 2cm wide) where there's no printing all around the bag.
The bag in pic 1 doesn't look like it has that margin, it looks like cut from one of the DS-bags.
It IS a fake, I think.
By the way, DS service started working with four-digit numbers AND catalogues in 1984. As far as I know, all sets ever shown in these catalogues are listed on playmodb. Could it be that this set has escaped collectors' attention ever since AND never been shown in a catalogue?
-
These are the first four DS-catalogues (Thanks for lending the pic, Hannibal). They started in 1984 and all sets have been listed on playmodb as far as I know.
-
That doesn't ad up. Why make a fake sealed DS-bag and then open it again? If you want to make a rare fake MISB (B = bag), you wouldn't open it. That decreases the value, doesn't it?
Pic 1 had one unprinted side.
If a bag is sealed too long or too hot, the edges tend to fall off.
The set could well be from before 1984. Look at the gunbelt. That type was used from the late 70's till the early 80's was it not?
-
I'm not saying this set is genuine, though. My point is that it is hard to say from the ad and pics whether it is real or fake.
I think the ad and the seller are rather clumsy. Open a 30 year old original bag? The ad says both that the bag was opened, and that the set is in its original packaging. Both cannot be true.
