An arithmetical expansion is 1 2 3 4 5 6.

Watch it People , steck is addictive, ireckon myself and many forum members suffer from this

In some languages it is called linear and exponential (roughly translated). Maybe that is more familiar for some people.

Actually, I used the wrong term, it should gave been a geometrical progression and an arithmetical progression. Apologies for any confusion that caused. At the time I felt that the word "expansion" wasn't the right one, but I couldn't get the right one to come to mind.
