Title: Nelson's Column
Post by: Emma.J on June 02, 2010, 18:00:53
While working on a balloon I had the sudden urge to do a statue, and one of Britain's most famous is Nelson's Column in London.. It's not exact but I hope you get the flavour of the original.

Another masterful work!    :wow:  :wow:  :wow:

How much time do you put into these customs?  It must be hours if not days!

I am your biggest fan...

:P Oh the poop comes when I leave my model outside to dry !

Good rock effect. How did you do ?

I used a stone effect spray paint. It comes out a bit bloby but it dries well then I painted over the top with a lighter grey to highlight it.

It took about two days to build allowing for the glue and paint to dry as well as adding a few bits on as I changed the design of the base after I built it the first time.

¿It’s not? It looks real to me… I mean like a real statue, not a real PM.

 Thank you I must admit I was inspired by another customiser on Tricornejock's site that does wonderful work. I've also done a few small staues as well as this one.

That looks wonderful, Emma!  I have used that stone paint before (on an old lamp, didn't think to use it on Playmobil  ::) ) and it really works well.

I got to see Trafalgar Square again last summer and your creation really evokes the originally beautifully.  Pretty soon you will have a complete Playmobil London!  How about Parliament and Big Ben next?   ;D

Sorry Folks, no plans at all for a Big Ben, MacGayver's allready done an excellent job of that, see his Wolfsberg '09 pictures of Around The World in 80 Days.  :omg: :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow:

Parliment might be interesting but I haven't got enough walls etc to do something like that. :-\

:!: Future ideas I'm thinking of, or working on at the moment are:
Airship                                         Medieval Market
Funfair                                        The Nautilus
Tudor Manor house                        Small Church
Medieval Inn                                 Hanging Gardens Of Babylon
Medieval Tournament                     Steampunk Carriages

So I'm afraid I've got enough to do at the moment as it is! As well as a couple of videos for youtube to do. By the way I'm coming up to 19,000 views of my films so far  <:>

I too would like to see Big Ben done. I tried about a year ago, but couldn’t find a plug-in clock that was small enough to fit.
The basic concept is fairly simple; Build a catle-type building with a tower, then grind out a hole for the clockface. “So simple,” ¿right? But good luck finding the clockface. THAT’S a trick.

WOW EmmaJ just WOW. You must have a lot of patience setting up those scenes. Really loved all the the little details. Was wondering how you make all those little things?

So many still to see looking, forward to it!

Well I've got the parts for most of the airship it's now a question of size. The gardens I was going to make from palace parts but I'm sort a couple of bases and the room to build it in. Might have to work out in the shed! :hmm:

¡GET OUTTA MY HEAD! My wife would say it’s crowded in here, but really it’s just scary…
Seriously, though I wanna see this Airship. (Then maybe my wife will let me and my step daughter will stop laughing at the idea…)

Hi sure no problem it's by a company called plasticote but I should think any large DIY store will have a similar brand with the spray paints. I'll try to find you a link for one.
