Hello Playmofriends
As it was a wet and miserably day, me and Mum thought that we would go and visit the local antiques centre which we hadn't visited for about a year.
Anyway, after looking round three floors of not so exciting antiques, and just getting to the last corner of the last floor, and
Horray! Something I was not expecting to find! :woohoo:

I could not see the price ticket from behind the glass, but asked the assistant anyway to unlock the cabinet so that I could have a good look :lens:
The assistant said that it had only just been put in!
So it was bought ;D
At close inspection, the box is rather worse for wear, but I suppose it adds to its character.
Missing from the set is the rake, the axe, and three bottles, but extras included 2 policemen and a PlayBig builder

I have a PlayBig collection as well, so off he goes to join the rest of his friends :)
Isn't it just beautiful, the true spirit of Playmobil
And my first boxed Playpeople set :)
I had to pay £15 for it as it was from an antiques centre, but I just had to have it :)

Just a couple of questions: Does anyone have the missing parts that I could trade for as I would very much like to complete the set, and are the cones supposed to be the unstamped ones with stickers? as there are both types (3 of each) came with it.
Thanks
Damo :)

Congratulations Damo!!! It really is exciting to find such rare goodies in a store you cannot even imagine there's going to be playmobil!!!

You really are lucky, Damo. The missing items other than the bottles should be no problem replacing as they are all readily available. Can you post pics of the rake and axe from the box as I may have them.

No worries, Gordon - I found some spares in the shed, even the bottles so the set is now complete apart from the iffy cones :)

You're forgetting Trol and Estrella ;)
I don't really know but I would say they where all about the same, but only having Playpeople and Famobil I am not really one to answer ;)

Wow flatcat, nice pickup for just fifteen quid! I actually remember this set in the seventies when i was a kid in Scotland. Three pounds fifty was a lot of pocket money then . My favourite is the beer crates supplied with the workers. No hard day's work is complete without a booze up.

You'll never guess what happened today! - my stepsister was just coming in from outside and she said "I've just found this on the drive!"
And it was the original rake!
Obviously, it had somehow fallen out of the box - probably through the large hole in the polystyrene. I had carried it level on my lap in the car all the way home from the shop, but how lucky was that! :)

What a nice find! :)9
There's something very appealing about the simplicity of these early sets.
Many, many years ago I went to an Antiques/Collectors Fair just outside Inverness, and I found a couple of Playpeople sets too. One was a British Bobby policeman still in his original box and the other was a boxed set of Knights Accessories - wooden table, bench seats, and lots of chromed accessories which were still sealed in their bags.
I very rarely find Playmo at the local boot sales, so it was a big surprise to come across these vintage sets.
Of course, I had to buy them! From memory, I think the Bobby was £2 and the accessories set was £4. 8-)
