These are indeed great pictures alexi!!! Perhaps you will find some answers in http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=4071.0

that was an intresting discussion but it's refering to how amateurs can make water surface !!i'am asking with what material did those people use for making the water for the boxes such as the water for the box of the ships 3550 3551 etc. and for katalogs
-
the water on these boxes was probably made with a kind of material similar to kitchen foil ...not the aluminium one, the see through membrane one...glued on a blue surface to make it look as moving water...
-
really :o :o :o :o has the kitchen foiil sutch results i thought it is ice in some boxes
-
Have a look at this diorama. Its posted on another thread, connot remember which one. I kept it as a point of reference for one of my projects...
-
i've seen that photo was it from the forum? i don't remember where have i seen it :eh?: :eh?: it is a little amateur though
-
it is like the sea from that strange version of 3550 disscussing in an other topic and this sea has an amateur look for a box http://cgi.ebay.com/536-playmobil-piraten-boot-3550-OVP-RARE_W0QQitemZ160417324459QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_123?hash=item25599e1dab

I think you may mean 'cling film' used to cover left over food etc.
To me the first picture looks like scrunched up cellophane!

I personally dont like this.. I think its much neater and better looking to use blue cloth on a surface ( like the typ eof cloth used in pool tables) for example rather than this ... :)

you don't like the method they used to the boxes or to the picture that wolf night posted?

Yes thats it Elaine, cling film, thank you.
Cellophane?!?!? Might be...
Giorginetto is right...It looks much better to place a blue cloth to create the diorama...
(i am planning something involving ice...but i will also need to create smoke.....

I think a blu cloth looks much neater and beater but that sof course a matter of opinion. Some \of the old playmobil dioramas look amazing even today but some others in my opinion have some details as this cling film sea effect that is not very nice... :)
-
ice is nice good looking but not permanent and perhaps not safe for the toy smoke you can use cotton for it see the links http://www.collectobil.com/images/items/3480.jpg

you refer to 3551 ship's box i personally love it. the cloth is a little amateur not impressive for me as you said is what everybody likes!!!!

Sorry alexi but I've decided that when it comes to my projects and my dioramas i'll experiment so much i am prepeared to sacrifice a few playmobil parts.....too bad, but you cannot make an omelet without cracking some eggs....
I do not need the ice to be ermanent, just to shoot the pictures for the project...and we are not talking about fire smoke...more like mist smoke..... ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
it sounds intresting would you share it with us here when you make it?
the kind of smoke you want must be real smoke i use burning sticks for making a nice atmosphere exept of the smell they make they produce a big amount of smoke if you use 3 of them let's say you can make the smoke you want with these .especially if you put them under a led light will show more here they are http://www.agrariahome.com/images/P/Burning_Sticks_Lavender_Rosemary.jpg
http://www.making-incense.com/images/burning%20char/burners.jpg
don't look at the second picture's smoke it is a little but ussally it's 3x that smoke i use the celestian sense burning sticks they have the best results!! or livani that use to funerals hope i helped
-
Thank you for your suggestions alexi, but in this case i think dry ice is the answer..... ;) The project will take too long as i am planning it now for almost a year...
-
dry ice :eh?: what is this ,for the smoke?
-
I'm not sure where the question of smoke came from (I've looked quickly through the topic but didn't see any reference to it until it just suddenly appeared), but it is possible to buy smoke "pills" from some toy or joke shops. I have some but haven't tried them out yet, but if you wish, Wolf Knight, I'll try one and take some photos for you to see what the smoke looks like.

one topic where wolf night was asking about the ice and the smoke now that you say it i looked it and it's not there :o ?

That would be very helpful! Thank you playmofire!!!

Be very carefull all :o :o. in doors smokes, fires etc etc can be very dangerous. I wonder if the smoke pills would leave any residues on adjacent ceilings, walls etc etc :o :o

I havent seen any smoke pills in Greece, they were available in dress up/ joke shops in the uk . If these are what i am talking about you light them and lots ( i mean lots !!!) of smoke comes out of them . ;)

You can also use a Halloween fog effect machine, as I did.
-
hmm i thought of that too Bill...how much would it cost???

The first one is cellophane, not cling film (too soft) and the other ones are just real water and photo shop.
Look at the third link, the rowboat is sinking, but you can't see the part that is sunk??
The real sand on the beaches isn't wet, but the water looks so real, it's almost impossible to fake waves like that!!
Rob
I will try to make a photo with some cling film and cellophane let's see what it looks like.

I bought mine at KMart here in the USA for a reduced price of $25.00 in their after Halloween sale, brand new complete with a small bottle of fog solution! It works great for a fog that you want to lay close to the ground!

Thank you Giorginetto!
