Dear 1989
Victorian Collectors such as myself and Emma will tell you that what is considered by some as the most beautiful and crafted theme ever produced by Playmobil became discontinued years ago :'(
Their market value and appeal being as high now as ever, many Sellers are still ofeering "Victorian Sets" which are ranging from the very rare unopened mint in box, to opened but with original box, to free sets, individual spare pieces and customized sets from our Friend Emma and myself :)
The rarest pieces can be found on Ebay.de ( Germany ) and put in search engine Playmobil "nostalgie", "1900", "rosa", "puppenhaus".
Good luck in your quest to step back in the good old times of our happy little Victorians
Karim :)

Yes, I guess so.
It's a lot of playmo, but it's been made a lot, and it's second, third (or more) hand playmo the older ones.
I have never come across fake playmobil (yet). I'm not a great buyer (I, myself, only buy brand new stuff ...), but, until now, and until something shows otherwise, I think I can see only original playmo. It's possible, however, to distinguish European playmo, Troll (Brasilian), and the Argentinian (don't remember the maker) kinds. These three kinds are different, even the Troll and the original German klickys from the 1970s-80s (you can see that the hand of the German one is a little more well manufactured than those by Troll.
To make fake playmo, however, musn't be so difficult. In a way, Troll wasn't great quality ... (On the contrary ...)
A few thoughts ... :2c:

hi yes i know that are sold in german ebay. i have all the collection small and big and some pieces more than one time but my question is are all the ones sold on ebay originally made in 1989, 1990 or playmobil is making them again today for collectors because they are wanted??
-
Playmobil has not produced any of these victorian sets for years. However they did produce a limited number of sets, or part of sets, and made them available through direct service (7261, 7411, 7029) Then again I suppose that it is possible that they have loads of individual accessories available through direct service, a privilige that the Playmobil Hellas DS has not provided us.

Dear 1989
Your question is really interesting and was the subject of separate topic a few months ago when we discussed the elaborate and expensive Collectors Items that Lego was offering to its most loyal and fortunate - in all the meanings of the word -Collectors who even helped with the design for prices ranging from 350 US dollars to 600 + 8}
I am afraid that this is a dream that serious Victorian Collectors like myself and Emma would have considered should Playmobil had not discontinued once and for all its Victorian Theme years ago :'(.
So, any genuine Victorian item available on Ebay ( .com, .fr, .co.uk, .de ) are dating from 1989 to the year when the Victorian Collection got discontinued.

do you know what suspended me: it is that there is a very big amound of toys that is sold of the theme on ebay there are 5 items of the 5500 old lady and maid for example (and mostly all the items)at any time on the ebay! they never end????

Except for Fred's red book, it's the same in the 5321 set ... (both attached)

Okay, I _am_ joking (and it was a poor one ..) but what I mean is, there are lots (really) of bits in the playmoworld, and quite a few of them are still around, but we can't see any of the cars, to give an example, of the 1900 collection, and those aren't easy to produce, so, yes, they're all original.

(Hm .. oO okay, I don't have an explaination for that ..)

this was nice i liked it . you say that we can't count how many they are, but every day on ebay there is a car available and more ?
-
(Nay, I have no explaination for that either ...)

Usually it takes a lot of time for a really good playmobil item to appear on ebay. I recently bought a 5620 touring car for about 60 euros and i was looking for it for a long time. At the moment there are a few 5620 but the cheapest costs 100 euros.
So its up to a plamobil fan to open his/her vault of rare beauties and sell it on ebay. But it is also in the liking of the buyer to get what he wants. I believe that people tend to buy big sets easier instead of smaller ones which tend to be quite expensive. I mean, I am not really in the mood of paying 30 to 40 euros for a 5500... but put another 30 euros and i would certainly like to buy a 5640 truck...
-
you are right the small boxes are expensive but the bigger ones are even more expensive. 60 euro for the 5620 victorian car new in box?? the car costs from 100..something to 300 from what i have seen. everyone is asking the price he want's the thing is that people shops !!
a!!! i just remembered something there was a seller on ebay that was selling the 5503 (lady in white with a man sevant in blue victorian) he was selling this item but he had incuded in his pictures a big brown new seeming box full of the same toy ??
-

The car came with all klickies and accesories but no box. The seller even provided me with a photocopied instruction sheet.
-
it was used or new in bags you won it or you bought it(buy it now)?
-
used for display and not in bags.
-
that's a good price i wonder how i didnt see it

I think it's perfectly possible that all the mint in box Victorian sets popping up on eBay have been sitting in small toyshops for years, until someone came along who recognised their potential value, bought them, and stuck them on eBay.
There are a couple of set 5315 in a toystore here in Eugene, but I'm not prepared to pay the $30 they're asking.
In the last few months I happened across three different 3666 castles all in original boxes - two in a toyshop in Dublin (Ireland) and one here in Eugene. I'd have bought the Dublin ones but for the difficulty of getting them back to London with me, and the 200 Euro Pricetag each. I did buy the Eugene one, plus a 3667 castle in the same store.
Of course Playmobil still have the capability to recreate all the Victorian sets if they wished, but they haven't, yet.

Lucky you!!! I only dream of finding a steck castle forgoten in a toystore. Last year a major toy store brought a lot of 3030 sets but as i understood they were newer editions. So it is possible playmobil is still producing exclusive sets for major sellers.... I only wish they would put them somewere ina catalogue..

True. It gives me no particular extra tingle of pleasure to obtain sets that other people don't have access to (such as the Target and TRU exclusive blisters), but it does annoy me when a really nice set or figure is only made available in some countries, and I'll have to make special arrangements to get hold of one.
At present Playmodb (thrice bless Heather for all her wonderful work) is the only place recording these sets, and fitting them into the wider spectrum.
-
have you seen any 3666 in toystores pano??

Unfortunately no! :( :( :( I still remember visiting toy stores in the 90's looking at 3666 but never being able to buy one. Today however, I have two of them and I am expecting two more within the week. Got all of them from ebay.
-
you weren't able to buy it for personal reasons or they weren't existing because when i was trying to found some other rare toys in thessaloniki from the phone katalog most of the toy stores didn'thave playmobil at all ?
from ebay new or used are the ones you are expecting?
-
I could not buy them back them because my parents would never give me the money or even get them to me as a present.
Sets tend to disappear very quickly here in Thessaloniki. There are very few shops with forgoten sets.
I got all of my 3666 castles from used, price ranging anything between 80 and 120 euros. I think i only saw one boxed, new, never opened but cannot recall the price.
-
ok used you can find any time you want on ebay. if you saw the boxed one recently it could be the one i saw too i don't remember the price either but didn't ship to greece
