Title: Prussian Helmet
Post by: seawarrior on February 28, 2010, 14:52:12
Hi,

This is one of the things I just have sitting in my picture file. Its been there for a while, so
I thought I may as well show it.

Nice custom pickelhaube, Seawarrior!

Playmobil made a pickelhaube for their police officer in the Victorian set 5504.

And, they've brought it back with their Puppet Theatre set 4239.

If you want to order any from DS USA the part number is: 30 64 7792 (part number from Heather's PlaymoDB (http://www.playmodb.org/)).

All the best,
Richard

That theatre is a great set, with some great figures included. I'll be getting one if they ever hit the US.

Are there any other differences between the two helmets,
other than the imprinted eagle on the one from set 5504?

no from what i know although in some pictures the silver part is shiny but in the real toy is grey, perhaps they made it silver for the pictures to be atractive i think!

The eagle on the pickelhaube in set 5504 was chrome plated (as were the buttons on the policeman's tunic.

If the one you saw was gray, then it's because the chrome plate has worn off (or deteriorated).

BTW, PM1989, I have 9 sets of 5504 and the pickelhaube eagles and tunic buttons are all chrome plated!

i don't mean the eagle ,i mean the silver part that comes off ..as you can see and in the photograph of the box and mostly  all the photographs and the one you have above it is shiny silver but in reality is gray.

about flatcat's comment if someone likes something very much want's to have a lot of it. i have 8 dollhouses!!!!

You are absolutely correct about the "spike" on top of the helmet, Alexis!

It is not chrome plated. It's a sort of silver gray color. It's also a softer plastic.

All the best,
Richard

So that's where they all are, no wonder I can't find any ::)

I haven't got any Playmo duplicates on this sort of level - the only duplicates I have is train track (you would struggle to find 2 klickies the same in my whole collection!)

excellent , excellent , excellent !! One of me many playmo dreams to build a prussian army, just look at my choice of avatar !!!!! I always thought of combining the union western soldiers with bayonnete rifles and spiked helmets would create a great army. i wonder if these helmets can be ordered in mass quantities

Thank you, Giorginetto!

You can make your own pickelhaube, but it's cheaper to order them from DS.

I've attached some old photos so that you can see some of my "home-made" Prussian helmets.

All the best,
Richard
