Hi Count Borgo

I translated the most I could. The Prices are useless to convert as they are way off. Some times just changing the € to a $ is all that is needed and makes more sense.  A soccer player special is 3.52 € and in $ it is $5, but it is more like $3.50

There is a lot of unknowns in there ?

looks like new Advent calendars:

I must confess that I really like the 4857 vacation home - the first system X modern house that I really go for!  It looks a bit like an Italian villa.  :)

You're right!  That house could be modified to become a Roman villa!

Is there a round hut I see in the zoo sets?  That could be very useful in some historic themes.

Hello

what could this be ?  The first Victorian house was 5300 & 5305 and the second was 5301 so could this be the replacement for the Victorian house with 7 extra sets  ?

Hello

Now what can this be ? The sets are expensive and there are a lot of them . The one theme that also recently was axed is the Knights. There are a few high dollar sets similar to knights good-guy/bad-guy castles ?? The dragon knights ended in set #4841 but then the Holiday House runs up to it with 4857-4864 ?

Keine Ahnung:
4865 - PLAYMOBIL 170.85 €

When I look at the holiday stuff, the villa, the boat, I wonder if in 2007 Playmobil started planning a rich banker theme and got it out just a bit too late!

Hi PirateClick

I guess the system X would be better that what the current trend is. The Dragon Knights is that one piece system that you get no flexibilities to customize at all. I would love to see a Stecks revival but the design team seem to disagree. I just do not get the set # logic. There seems to be too many sets for this to be one theme. When do the pictures come out?

Hello

Any guesses on what these could possible be ?

current sets 4221-4227 are in the Rescue theme

unknown
4228 - PLAYMOBIL 32.81 €
4229 - PLAYMOBIL 8.57 €

Current sets 4850-4855 are in the Zoo theme, but if it is a Zoo why not put it with the other new ones?

unknown
4856 - PLAYMOBIL 48.11 €

The long series starting with 4865 looks to me like two different series. Those are just total unknowns so they could be any number of smaller series added together.

You're right!  That house could be modified to become a Roman villa!

You're right, a couple of those would make a great base for a Roman villa. I was wondering if church pieces might be used for white walls, and then the roof parts for the red tiles?

I'm planning on getting a couple of churches as a base for my Crusaders, but I've been holding off as I have nowhere to set them up at the moment anyway, and I have enough unopened blue boxes sitting round the apartment already (incuding two castles, the Egyptian ship and the Egyptian house/tomb).

Hi Indianna

Noooo don't say that  :(  A PINK Victorian house would be awful. The 5300 was so beautiful in its rustic tan tone. The 5301 was that awful baby s###  yellow. Nooo  Sorry I want to cut that limb you are out on and do hope Playmobil will not do this . If they do  :'( out comes the spray paint . As you can tell I really did not like that pavilion color

Probably I am not going to get the new castles either because I prefer buying another castles of steck (for example, the 3666 one). Steck-system is more realistic and I prefer being able to customize it.
However, I hope I like the new Knights (they have to be realistics as well )
I hope the pictures come out soon anyway, maybe in Feb  ???

hi rasputin i look on the german , us and french site but i don't find the new zoo !! where do you see that box ? you know we will frustate enough in france to wait one year !!

Hi Gaspodfreud

The new Zoo I was talking about is shown in Gordon's pictures (http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=3970.msg48605#msg48605) with the set #'s as follows

New zoo (was already well-known):
4850 - PLAYMOBIL large Tierpark 91,36 €
4851 - PLAYMOBIL stroking zoo 33,13 €
4852 - PLAYMOBIL Asia enclosure 57,14 €
4853 - PLAYMOBIL earth male colony 9,04 €
4854 - PLAYMOBIL LKoala tree with Känguru 7,57 €
4855 - PLAYMOBIL zoo vehicle with supporter 23,68 €

unknown
4856 - PLAYMOBIL 48.11 €

The question is what could 4856 be for 48.11 € ? The set # comes right after the new Zoo sets . Is it a special take along set or something else ? We have to  guess for now, in a few weeks we will know .

Most themes are in the $200 range for a complete set. This Zoo ads up to 222 so it is just about right so maybe it is not in the Zoo theme but something else ?

Help!

I'm not saying I want a pink house, only that my Playmo-intuition says that's what the color may be.  I agree with you that the original tan color was lovely - I always thought they should have done a brown one - like a New York City brownstone building.

Maybe there is also an outdoor set and/or a new vehicle.  If this really is a new "mansion" theme maybe they will re-issue the 5360 fence and the 5620 car - Playmobil executives obviously know how sought-after the original versions of these sets are and they would be smart to take advantage of that.   :crossed:

Maybe there is also an outdoor set and/or a new vehicle.  If this really is a new "mansion" theme maybe they will re-issue the 5360 fence and the 5620 car - Playmobil executives obviously know how sought-after the original versions of these sets are and they would be smart to take advantage of that.   :crossed:

Hi Indianna

That would be great but seeing the current trend at Geobras I highly doubt it. I know if the park fence was made or one of the vehicles I would personally send them a Christmas card

I am going to Nurnberg this year and I am hoping to see all these mystery sets. I'm looking forward to the new dollhouse theme. Here is hoping that this time we will see some new pieces and houses. The pink of the wedding pavillion is actually quite nice. I bought it because it was super cheap (19,98 euros) and I wanted the roof pieces, but actually like the whole thing. But I do hope that the new house won't be yellow!

I've got my fingers crossed for a new Victorian theme and a new historical Medieval theme. :prays:

It has to do with the number of molds they need to produce. They produce one mold from the mastermold and use that to produce the sets. They start producing the sets the year before release. These are all meant for the releasemarkets.
The sets produced during the release-year are all meant for the other markets. To put it simply:

release year - 1 = producing for the release markets
release year = producing for the other markets
after that = producing the upkeep for the stores

They could produce all the sets for all the markets in one year - but in that case, they would need a second mold. Unfortunately, that's simply too expensive.
This two-step approach saves them nearly 200.000 euro (if I recall that correctly).
That's what we were told back in 2004 in Dietenhofen

... But I do hope that the new house won't be yellow! ...

With my luck - it would turn out vomit-green  :-[ with the park fence in matching colours ...

By doing things this way there are also big savings on storage costs - imagine the cost of storing all those sets for the post-release year markets?  Also, imagine the cost of having a flop on your hands with all your production complete!  With the present system, if a set fails in the release market, then it is possible to cut back on production for the post-release market.  (At one time, Playmobil used to produce 10,000 of a set and store it, releasing it on to the market to meet demand and only producing more after it was sold out.)

Thanks, Bogro, that's very useful.  Nothing of interest to me personally, but it's useful to know that for budgeting.

At least we have an idea. The knights might have some little details of interest but in general and unsurprisingly it is going to be "Never change an winning story". Now I am burning to find out how the new dollhouse is going to be somewhat different from the modern dollhouse. Will there be "new" antique furniture ore the old stuff revisited.

Thanks for posting the pix, Gordon!

I must confess that I really like the 4857 vacation home - the first system X modern house that I really go for!  It looks a bit like an Italian villa.
  :)

Yes! Thank you very much for the pictures, Gordon ...  :wow:

And, Anne, you seem to have a real warm spot  for the Italians ... ;)

Hi

It will be interesting to see the Doll House & the Special Agents . The knight sets sound so much like ones we have already had. I at least hope they give us some new parts for all these themes. The Agents sounds like a theme similar to Legos Agents that they have had for a few years. I guess all we need to do now is wait for the pictures

Thanks for the info Highland and the translation Count Borgo

Thanks for the information, highlandcattle, and the translation, Bogro!

I'm glad to see that we will be seeing some new knight sets, but from their descriptions they sound just like a re-hash of the current sets with the addition of some new catapults and robbers instead of black dragon knights.  I'm hoping for more authentic looking knights, but based on the catapult descriptions, I doubt this will happen.  What I was really hoping for was a Crusader focused knight theme, which would be a nice departure for Playmobil and would go well with the three Crusader specials and the recent Arab Warrior special.

I'm also hoping for a more historical doll house, but based on the descriptions (e.g. built-in kitchen and cozy living room) I doubt this too.

The secret agent sets sound interesting.  I probably won't collect them, but I'm curious.

Sad indeed my friend.
I want to know what a Robot Gangster SUV is.  Sounds like some kind of transformer, which IMO is pretty lame.  Hopefully the agents line will produce some cool klickies.  I hope it's more tuxedo or fedora hat kind of guys as opposed to super modernish Splinter Cell kind of guys.

odd - they didn't mention it - but since the production of master molds is extremely expensive; I think it could be.
But even if it isn't - there aren't many companies who can afford not to cut that kind of costs ...

Not familiar enough. Playmobil needs to prove they can still do it far better.

Indeed it does look a tad similar, but Lego have a current one you can buy and Playmobil don't  :'(

The Playmobil village, if you had all the buildings, would of course look much better. I've been slightly tempted to get that Lego village, but I've been down the Lego route and I know once it's built I've had most of the fun out of it that I'm going to get. I sold a bunch of unopened Lego sets before comign over to the US, because I didn't want to ship them, and I knew I wouldn't get round to playing with them.

Hello

Every time I play with legos it looks like Godzilla attacked the town. This is one reason I prefer Playmobil houses. You can actuall play with them and not worry about ever little part falling off  >:(

I guess it looks more and more like the two companies spy on each other for ideas
