Hello,javascript:void(0);
My name's Roger and I'm a Playmobil admirer, fan and collector.
I first was given a Playmobil cowboys & Indians Superset for my birthday in 1975 and have been a fan on and off since then. After I was considered too old to enjoy Playmobil, I didn't really take an interest until I started buying toys for nephews and nieces. Remembering how much I enjoyed Playmobil as a kid, I bought Playmobil for them and my interest was rekindled.
My first main collection was the Victorian theme. I still have the original house, but several years ago I sold all the room sets and add ons to raise some money. I have been an Ebay seller for six years and started off selling
Playmobil. I had three sets of the park fence that sold for over £200 each! Being new to Ebay and selling Playmobil, I was gobsmacked at the prices I got for all my Victorian sets. I bought the park fencing from Playmobil direct service at £12.99 each I think. If only I knew how sought after that set would be, I would have bought a lot morejavascript:void(0);
The themes I like the best tend to be playworlds that contain a building of some sort and I prefer the modern day sets to the historical ones, Victorian theme excepted. I like the new modern house and hope to treat myself to one soon, as well as the delightful wedding theme. There's so much Playmobil I would like and I am always amazed at what the Playmobil designers come up with.
Anyway, that's just a little introduction. I am enjoying reading the posts and learning more about my favourite little people.

Hello Roger :wave:
Welcome to playmofriends . Sounds like you will be in good company with the themes you enjoy . Isn't it amazing what kind of appreciation some of these sets can generate. I often wonder what set that we have easy access today that will be fetch a 1000% return. Even though it took 20-ish years to get there that is still 50% a year.
Please join in and as you may have noticed, we all love pictures of members creations :**:

Hi Roger!
I was also introduced to Playmobil through the Western theme as a Birthday present back in '74 or '75, but I like the Historical themes best.
I never had any Playmobil buildings until the last 3 years, but as a boy I used cardboard boxes, my bed, tables and chairs, to represent houses, castles, caves under the mountain (the bed) etc. I guess I just had more vivid imagination then. These days I've got lazy and bought a ton of buildings so I don't have to imagine quite so hard. :-[

Hi Roger! :wave:
Welcome to the forum and thanks for introducing yourself. :D
I've always thought that Playmobil is a good investment and your story about the park fences is proof of this. My only problem is that I can't bear to part with any of my sets, so I'll probably never benefit from their monetary value. :P
Have fun at PlaymoFriends! :)

Hello again,
Thanks to everyone who has welcomed me to the group. There are obviously a lot of Playmobil experts here and I am learning something new as I wade through the many posts. I really don't know much about Playmobil, all I know is I like it and I always will. I can thank my parents for having the good sense to buy me some when I was a kid and owning Playmobil brings out the child in me, not that the child in me needs bringing out, At 40 years of age I can still act like a kid!
I doubt I will be able to contribute much to the group until the new year as this is a busy time for me both personally and professionally, but I will try to add my comments when I can if I think they will be of any use.
Sylvia, it is hard parting with Playmobil, which is why I try to have at least two of each set I collect. That way I can have one to open and one to keep MIB to possibly sell in the future. I can't afford to do that with everything I buy though, especially the big sets. It would be nice to have a time machine, so I could stock up on all the rare Playmobil and make a fortune. Saying that, if I had a time machine, I would just enter the lottery a few times using the winning numbers and then I could build my dream Playmobil city!
Well that's all for now.
Best wishes,
Roger.
P.S. I won't add any smileys this time as I seemed to have messed up the last attempt. I assumed you just dragged them into the text box.

Actually you just click on the one you want to use and it will show up wherever your cursor is. It should look like this with out the space between the characters ; ) versus javascript:void(0 ); if you are after this one ;)

Welcome from the South Eastern USA, Roger! You seem to have the same collecting bugs as I do when it comes to the modern theme series, &
I'm sorry to say there is no vaccination to cure them :0!
