 Hello all I'm hope some one will be able to help me with a problem I have. ???
When I first started collecting Playmobil I came across a site with a converted mansion called Rivermead Manor. I saved some pics and here they are. Can anyone tell me how to turn a corner on a house? From these photos I can see the wings seam to be attached along the front of the house. The only way I could see to do this was to slice the end off the base and file down the external ridges of a T connector to push the extra section up to the original build. Is this right has anyone ever done this? I'd love to be able to extend my mansion outwards like this.
Thanks for any help you could give, as this has been a bit of an obsession for me, Emma.
This is the plan of a standard house on left and the manor on right.

If this is Steck, then there is a four-way connector from, I believe, a Western set which may allow this. It might need some trimming down and painting to finish off.
-
A four-way connector does indeed exist. As far as I know it was only used in the old steck-farm (3716):

I am afraid though that they are rather hard to find.
Besides that, I am not too sure they'd fit. Aren't the walls of the Rosa-sets higher as the regular Steck-walls?

It is used in two sets, it would work but you'll probably have a gap, the color is not the same as that of the mansion

I don't think that it is really rare.
Maybe you should email that person and ask him how he did it. Probably very simple solution.

If the 4 way was in the old farm does this (http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=3462.0) mean it will be coming out again , or was it a different set ?
-
Within the last few years it was available from UK DS.

The new set is smaller a probably won't include the four way connector.

Excellent idea asking the creator for advise!

Hi thanks for the advice. I've actually got the fourway connector from the farm and tried it as mentioned its too short I'd have to cut up a piece and patch the bits together. I think maybe filling down the house T piece by taking off the outside ridges and maybe gluing another part to it to create the + ???
Or would two corners glued together maybe?
I'd love to ask the original builder I was hoping they may have been a member of the forum. I know the original website wasn't in English and unfortunately the only other language I speak is very bad French. :-[
I'll keep working on the problem thanks.

You could always ask the original builder in English and provide a web translation with your question.

Thanks everyone for the advice
I've been back on the website and left a message on their guestbook. It's part of playmotown.de website, but when I went on there nothing was working so I don't think anyone is involved with the site at the moment.
I shall just have to be brave with the saw and some glue ???
Also has anyone had any sucess painting the rubber seats on furniture and cars? If so whats best? I've tried a primer first and it's not brillant. I'll be glad of any help.
Lot's of thanks to all, Emma.

I think the rubber seats are possibly a soft plastic and you can buy plastic primer at your local car accessory shop. It's in a spray can just like car paint or primer and you apply it before priming. It looks pretty strange when one, but in my experience works.
-
As I understand, the Mansions stories are taller than Western and Castle sets, so it won’t work. (I vaguely remember trying it in the store in Redding, CA that carried them, and it just didn’t work.)
I shall just have to be brave with the saw and some glue ???
Sorry. :(Good luck. ;D

I don't believe you need to cut and paste to build the same house
I haven't tried it out myself but as far I can see on the pictures, it is a way of playing with the connectors
as for painting the rubber seats : you cannot paint rubber or weak surfaces without using some tricks
first of all you need to degrease your part , just cleaning it is not enough
I suggest you put the parts two , three times in the dishwasher
Then there is the paint , when paint dries it becomes a hard surface
a hard paint on a weak underground gives the result that the paint will break afther a while
Therefor I suggest you search for a weakmaking additive to add to the paint
it takes way much longer to dry but your paint will not break anymore
Good luck
