It was an epic struggle between >:D and 0) but common sense prevailed. Even though traveling to upstate New York would have been manageable it's still a whole day of driving - if the pick-up point had been a 45 mile roundtrip away instead of 450 we might have had a different outcome. ;)
Oh well,.......I understand :-\, but there's always a next time, "My Pretty" quote from the Wizard of Oz >:D, & I'll be there to help you :evilplan:!

No problem Anne ;)! We'll be waiting :evilplan:!

Liz and Lee are beautiful! I have not seen that type of Gecko before - do they sell insurance, too? They are the perfect scale to be Komodo dragons in a Playmobil scene!
I fear we have strayed rather far off-topic - and you're a moderator, Bill! For shame!!!!! :-[

Problem resolved, Milady! Post away! Lee, & Liz are more into action movies like Brad, & Jolie rather than commercials,....not really they live separate sleepy lives,....Hmmmm, maybe they're more like the current Brad, & Jolie than I thought !

Aww. Cute dog! How old is she?
And Bill, I love your geckos. I've never seen that variety, either. I used to have a pet lizard. Lizards make great pets!

Thanks everybody! I really like this species :yup:, they are very little up keep, I've had Iguanas, & they are much more delicate than this breed! I had an Iguana that was nearly 5 feet long with a perfect tail years ago! I used to let him run free in my apartment while I watched him, because he was so big I couldn't lose track of him! He was beautiful with various greens, & orange colors !

Wow, you guys can really get off topic ...
But, what is the topic? An eBay auction, or lizards? ... ;D
Since this seems to be a somewhat "free-floating" topic, I think that I'll jump in too.
Back in July of last year we posted Dinos on Location (http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=2430.0) which featured some real live iguanas (adults and babies).
If you haven't seen it, you might want to click on the title above or on the quote below ...
Hello, Playmofriends ...
Some of you may have already seen the Playmobil Brachiosaurus and Local Iguana Photos (http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=2413.msg27146#msg27146) in the Birthday Greetings section of Playmofriends.

You had an iguana!!!! That is my dream pet lizard!!! That is so cool!!!
I didn't know they are on the delicate side. What makes them delicate?

They are herbivores, & their diet consists of items like fresh romaine lettuce, collard greens, dandelion greens, etc. They need a lot of calcium also. Back in the day I fed my lizard Izzy, cottage cheese before calcium powder became available. Their habitat must be warm, & humidity 80%, a tropical type, with varying temps from day to night. They will need artifical lighting sources for sunlight, & warmth with thermostat controls to prevent overheating or excessive cold. Their set ups need to be large enough to accommodate them to grow, because the larger their home is, the larger they will grow. A large climbing tree is needed because they love to rest in trees in the wild! One caution, never pick them up by their tails, or near their tails! They are known to drop their tails if startled which means the tail becomes detached from the body, but will continue to twitch distracting the offender while the lizard escapes into hiding!
The tail will regenerate, & grow back as a distorted appendage that will never look as good as the original.

My Leopard Geckos hated me... I liked them, but they hated me.

Maybe a "pet" iguana can be a bit "delicate," but I would never accuse a wild iguana of ever being a delicate creature ...
They'll whip the heck out of you with their tails and they have mouths full of razor sharp teeth. Our dog has been whipped and I've been bitten. Wild iguanas are definitely not delicate!
And, BTW ... I've never seen a wild iguana lose its tail. Even when they get run over by a car, truck or island safari bus.

Liz is very social, friendly, & enjoys being held, but Lee is very aggressive, & easily agitated! They both make a chirping sound if something makes them unhappy while being held! Lee will squirm, wiggle, & tail whip to get loose if someone is inexperienced in handling him.

My son had 2 Iguanas when he was younger because he heard my stories, & the tail dropping happened to both when he wasn't handling them properly! It's common in domestic breeds. I had one that was partially wild due to a previous owner not associating with him! He was totally aggressive, & would chase my wife when we first started dating, & would corner her onto a bar stool while whipping his tail, & hissing, & yes, teeth are a concern if you haven't raised them from youngster age, & aren't used to be handled! Salmonella is also a concern!

Hmm. That is rather high maintenance. Maybe I'd better not. Perhaps Playmobil will come out with an iguana (ha!). If they ever do, I'm getting it!

So this is where it went! I lost track of this part of the conversation not realizing that Bill cleverly split the thread.
Aww. Cute dog! How old is she?
Thanks, KM, we think so, too! She is two years old and of indeterminate parentage. ;)

I love dogs! I understand that dogs of "indeterminate parentage" tend to be healthier and smarter than purebreds (or so I've been told). Where did you get her?

DOGS !!!
Playmobil Dogs
Maybe we should also talk about Playmobil dogs before this whole topic gets moved over to the PFZ.
This has been a great lead in for a discussion about ALL the different dogs that Playmobil has made over the years.
There may even be one or two that Tiermann missed (although I doubt it).
Here's a start: Do any of the dogs look like your dogs?

I think I'm going to have to start collecting Playmodogs. My apartment does not allow dogs. :(
Back to Heather's db for some research...

Poor Bill ... :'(
Go to the nearest animal shelter, borrow one from a friend, or just pretend that you have one ...
Anyhow, here's a picture of my dog, Rusty and his Playmobil counterpart from the Hunter's cottage (set 4207).

I'll pass on actually getting a real one for now due to having 2 cats, 2 lizards, & 1 Russian Tortoise, which are enough responsibility presently with health issues :'(, but here are some of my Playmobil canine companions that some of you may have real furry family members that may show some resemblance to! BTW Richard, Rusty's beautiful !

This one seems the closest Playmobil equivalent to our dog, Zoe:
30 66 5810 - Dog, wolfhound (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showpart.pl?partnum=30-66-5810)
The ideal Playmobil version would be golden/tan and somewhat leaner, but this seems to be the only Playmo dog with "whiskers."

So far she has been very healthy and has an excellent disposition. She originally came from Tennessee where she was found as a stray when she was only a few months old - she came to us through a rescue organization. (http://www.clipartof.com/images/emoticons/xsmall2/117_running_dog.gif)

Beautiful dog, Richard! What kind is he?
Hey :hissyfit:! What about those of us who don't have dogs :hmm:!
I don't have a dog, either. I have decided to start collecting Playmopooches. You have a nice collection as well as other pets. Do your cats like to play with your Klickys and lose them? I have had cats before, and they like to play with any small object.

BTW Richard, Rusty's beautiful !
Beautiful dog, Richard! What kind is he?
Bill and KM, Rusty thanks you both for your generous compliments!
Rusty is an "island dog" who "found" us when he was just a little over a year old.
He was hungry, covered with fleas and a trip to the vet told us that he had heartworms. Fortunately, we caught the heartworms early and he was young and strong even though he hadn't eaten for awhile.
He's a real wanderer. Everybody knows him and he likes everybody. He loves to go on walks. He'll join any of our neighbors who are out walking for their daily exercise.
There's an island pub just down the hill. When Rusty is making his rounds, he usually stops by to say hello to all of his human friends. Occasionally, one of his many human friends will take him for a ride in an open Jeep (which is one of his favorite things to do) and bring him home.
Are we afraid of losing him? Nope! He always finds his way home. Also, the island of St.Thomas is only about 13 miles long. So, where is he going to go?
Rusty is a very happy dog!
BTW, an "island dog" is a mixture of the many breeds that have been introduced to the islands since the early colonial days. So, Rusty has a heritage that goes back for several hundred years.
Thanks for your comments and all the best,
Richard

I'm glad that Zoe is a rescued dog. I support adopting dogs and cats from the pound or SPCA or any rescue organization.
Since I can't have a dog in my apartment, I may have to adopt some Playmodogs from eBay.

Hope Rusty doesn't dogpaddle to another island

Believe it or not, Jim ... Rusty doesn't like the water ... :eh?:
You would think that an island dog would love swimming around. But, not Rusty!
So, it looks like inter-island dogpaddling isn't in Rusty's travel plans.
The good news is that Rusty also doesn't want to jump into the swimming pool with us ... ;)
All the best,
Richard

I'm just saying Richard, after seeing countless commercials, Disney movies, & Pixar films, etc., we all need to be worrying :0!
