Just read the rumour on Klickywelt, reported via Playmoboard, that the 4622 & 4628 American Civil War specials may soon be released as a blister pack.
It's one I've been hoping for, an obvious release for people who wish to build American Civil War armies, and better than the add-on packs with their odd mix of 2 sergeants to 1 private in the 7046 Confederate pack. I'm also not fond of the chunky revolver belts used in those packs, and remove them for private soldiers.
With luck these will be out for my visit to Eugene in June, and I'll have something to stock up on.
If anyone sees this rumoured blister in the shops, a photo & details of the location would be much appreciated.

It also looks like there could be new Duo-Packs for Romans, Knights and Pirates - as well as Vet/dog and Vet/cat-tree and 2 Santa sets.

I've seen the two Xmas-blisters before. So that's not a rumour. They exist; even though they've been only released in the US.

There are already 2 Christmas blisters on Playmodb that we've known about since people bought them before last Christmas - 5845 and 5846. Would we be talking about these ones again, or could there be new ones in the pipeline?
I'm interested to see what they'll do for new Roman and Knight blisters, the Roman blister might include an archer, which would suit people who haven't already built up their armies. Would they include the cavalryman if he doesn't have a horse?
Knight blisters are always going to grab my attention as there are so many old knight figures I missed out on in my wilderness years.

I'm glad to hear of the Civil War blister pack. This was my most wanted one.

Just read the rumour on Klickywelt, reported via Playmoboard, that the 4622 & 4628 American Civil War specials may soon be released as a blister pack.
Latest update from Hauden Lukas on Playmoboard, the Confederate soldier is indeed the 4622 special, but the Union soldier will be one of the 3 from the 7047 accessory pack. Probably the one with spiky brown hair as that's the hair type I need the least.
Justindo and I are both very disappointed by this news, if it proves to be true. It would seem that either Playmobil are cynically releasing a figure we don't need along one with one we do want, or they have an excess of 7047 packs and are trying to get rid of them, or they just didn't think at all.
Whichever way you slice it, we'd rather have the 4628 special in the blister, and this is a real shame.

As Martin writes, I am very disappointed not to have the Union Soldier Special. With his single breasted tunic, trousers with shoes, and period equipment, he is of far more use than the Union Soldier Add-Ons who look more like officers. Unfortunately, I missed getting the Union and Confederate Soldier Specials when they were originally released (I hadn't started buying Playmobil as an adult yet) and was looking forward to creating a couple companies with these new blister packs, but now I think I may just not bother getting any.
Since they're probably going to have to produce new figures anyway (I doubt they have a bunch of brown haired Union Add-On soldiers around, but I could be wrong), I'm guessing it was just a poor decision on Playmobil's part. Maybe the person responsible was the same person who gave us the recent Crusader with gold legs. After all, "more buttons means more better and more bling is more better!" ;)

Thanks for the pics AMD, does this mean the blisters are already available somewhere?
5799 - I'll have to get a few, just for those sideburns
5800 - goodness, why bother? This won't sell to army builders.
5801 - I guess I'll get one

i like the blisters, i guess we may get those in a couple months... i like the western, the idea of use those makes me thin we may have a french and British soldier, and why not a special real British guard...
i like the Romans, but is a shame to use the centurion, i was expecting a auxialia and a legionnaire, or an archer and a calvary man, but what the heck, i can wait... the pirates are good too, and actually usable, not those one leg and remade of all the other blisters pack
even the Knight's is not ugly as usuall, the true is that I'm getting so sick of golden pieces... but this ones are not bad, and are really good for different types of soldiers and civilizations...

On the whole, the historical blisters are very disappointing.
The legionary is potentially useful, but is currently available in an Add-On 3-pack, and I have too many centurions as it is. No thanks. (Just imagine if Playmobil had released a Roman blister pack consisting of the sandaled auxiliary infantrymen with the correct Gallic helmet paired with the Hamian archer! Collectors would buy tons of these! With their current choice, you may see a parent buy one for their son's birthday.)
As for the Civil War pack, as I wrote before, the Confederate soldier is useful, but if I wanted the Union soldier Playmobil decided on, I'd just buy the 3-pack that's currently available. The people at Playmobil should really try thinking before choosing.
The knight and pirate blister packs are okay, but I'd only buy one of each.

Interesting! I like the little horse in the vet pack...will be on the look out for these. Thanks for sharing!

These are great. The 5799 and the 5800 will be most welcome. Thanks for the pics Amd.

Did 5799 ever get produced. I am hearing conflicting reports as to if this was just a trial and never actually got put into production for resale.
Cheers,
James

It was never produced.Too bad really. ;)

That is what I was thinking, I mean I would have seen one come up by now. And the artwork people showed of it, it had the XX for piece count which is incorrect.
Well one item to take of this list since it never was.
Thank you for the input
Sincerely,
James

I can't find any trace of this set on ebay.de or ebay.es. Pictures at PlaymoDB and Klickypedia seem to be the same as the one on page 528 of Collector 3rd Edition, listed as a US exclusive. Some sort of mock-up for catalogues but never released. And since Collector 3rd edition was released in 2009, inclusion there has not been corrected.
Sets 5800, 5802, 5820 and 5822 are also shown on p528 of Collector, all with the 'XXpc' caption (number of parts to be decided), but only 5800 (Roman Officers Duo-pack) seems, like 5799, not to have been released.
So, two more 'phantom' sets!

I removed the set from my to collect, I think it should be pulled from playmodb as well. It never came out in the US from talking to some of my other sources, but I have no confirmation from Playmobil US, my contact at Playmobil Canada says it does not show as a set on their system.
