Title: 4029 set - pictures?
Post by: Miguel on March 16, 2009, 17:27:50
Hello everyone,

does anyone has the instructions or even pictures of the 4029 set?

It's this one here http://playmodb.org/setpics/4029.jpg but I would like to have a closer picture and/or the inventory :)

Thanks in advance for everyone that can help me with this  :D

P.S.: ah, and PlaymoDB doesn't have anything else than that picture that you have seen  :(

The set i bought did not have instructions with it so if you need any actual pictures of the set i could go to the barn and take a few .

Hello Gepetto!

Yes, that's true  :) I have it, but it's lost among a collection I've bought. But there are so many things that I'm kind of lost. It's been some weeks since I'm dividing pieces, parts, and putting them into small boxes by categories, etc

I'm going nuts :(o): I'm still not sure if I'm going to "get rid" of it since I think I have 3 or 4 locomotives  8}

I bought a 4029 a while ago from an LGB train collector.  Unfortunately it didn't come with the box, because he said the box was too big for his shelves.  So, instead, he had each car/engine bubble wrapped and stored in a shelf next to each other.  I was very disappointed to not have the box, paperwork, or the accessories (he couldn't remember where they got stored), but he did knock $100 off the price, and everything was in mint condition as he only ran it one time before he wrapped it up.

Duly noted.  It looks like it's composed of a 4052 - Large Locomotive (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=4052) (inventoried) with different stickers?, a yellow 4102 - Stückgutwagen (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=4102) (no plans), and a red version of 4101 - Cattle Car (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=4101) (no plans), plus the usual extra scene-making bits.  Do you agree?

(By the way, Miguel, you can't link directly to my pictures: I had to block external referrers, sorry.  Link to the page instead, and you can use the code at the bottom of the set-page to make it easy.)

Heather, you are close.  The engine is certainly the same as the 4052 except for the decals.  The tender car is a bit different than the 4052 tender - it's not powered and the lights do not work.  So it's identical except the engine block is missing the motor and the electrical components and the wheels do not have the gears.

But the red and yellow frieght cars are unique.  The red car is green cattle car, 4101 done in red with the door from the 4122 western freight car.

The yellow car is the 4102 that you refer to, but it has a compartment for a klicky much like the tipper car 4116 and 4112.  No other cattle car has the compartment on it.

Here's pictures of the 4 cars comprising the set:

Aaah!! I'm terribly sorry :) I did not know :) About the set, I guess it's a bit more than the sets you've mentioned, just like Knight Train have said :) I'm still looking for the information in the whole inventory :)

Knight Train, thanks for your info and your wonderful pictures. Your set looks really like new :)
Mine is played with, though it doesn't have nothing so harsh as a scratch or a broken piece, still, it's played with.

Do you happen to know this set inventory?  :)

Here's the best I can do for an inventory.  When I got the train, I got this part of the box which had the inventory marked with X's.  And the number '5' by the railing.  So I'm assuming this was the inventory.  The 14 rails would be the track, 12 curved, 2 straight.  And it would have a transformer as well.

The "other grey thing" refered to on the picture, would be the tool that's on the other side of the tender (you can see a grey thing with an "x" on the top).  And I assume the other black tools are the ones that go in the engine cab - a coal shovel and hook or something like that.  These are probably the same ones used on the other trains.

Oh, and I misspoke above, the 4111 frieght car also has a klicky compartment.  So the yellow car would be very similar to the 4111 car.

That's a very useful pic, KT.  Looks like these guys - 3304 - 2 Cowboys / Horse (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=3304) - are involved too, and the cows from 3275x - Cattle (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/showinv.pl?setnum=3275x).  I bet I can find all the odds and ends, so I'll add those to the inventory even if part numbers for the train itself are in short supply.

Hello here Antonio from Spain, i have this train with the carton box in excellent condition. Well many sorry for my english is if it is bad. I have no wagons plan, i think threre is no plan, but there is a lok plan, the normally for the 4052. Other important element who is usually missing is the ramp to access the wagon for the animals, the same into light grey from the 3514 circus lion train car (i dont know the exactely reference). Other pieces the two blue train lok engenering, they are on the line of other train personal into blue with articulated hand including the comon black tools for lok maintenance  (4 pieces) and the other four tools to had work the lok  (4 into light grey, two inside the cabin and other two on the top of the lok tender). Other elements three wood light brown barrel, two metalic barrel  one white and other into red with the legen valvoline, one wood transport box. Other an important must be the transformator  and the ac cable  who were includes into the box (4029 adapted to ac into USA black or blue, and 4031 adapted to ac into UK i think the first and oldest model 4350 transformator)
well if someone found interesting this please reply to me and i can send photos
thanks

António,

I believe you wanted to say "heavy" (pesado) instead of light (ligero). I think there's no problem about that, and if there is, a moderator can tell us that.

To attach the pictures to a post, you must do like this: after clicking on "reply", you see your text box; underneath, there's "Additional Options"; you must click on it, and there you will see easily how you can attach the pictures   :)

Antonio, if you want to email me photos, I can post them here.

I post them on FLICKR (www.flickr.com) then put a link here using the "insert image" icon - the one that's on the left side just above the "smile face" so they show up in high resolution.

Hello António,

I never know when I'll be here, but like this is a forum, when we post messages, we post them thinking in all persons that want to/are participating in the threads  ;)

So you can express your opinion about this set, what you think about it, etc  :)

aaah, and specially the pictures! I think that everyone here would be pleased with the pictures you have about this set  :D

Still, when you want to talk to a particular member, nothing better than to send a Private Message  :**:

Ok, so António has done the good-nature action of sending me some pictures of 4029 and 4031 (just with the difference of US and UK) for all of us to check.

I've asked him if he could allow for the pictures to be published on PlaymoDB, since there are none for this set...(I've also asked him to shoot some pictures of the manual so that the several parts can be also present on PlaymoDB).

I've never done it, so...can someone tell me if it's just needed to contact the person responsible for PlaymoDB?

Anyway, here are the pics!  >:D

Thank you Antonio for taking the pictures and Miguel for taking the time to post them, that sure is a beautiful set (always the danger of looking at other themes, they can be so enticing)!

Miguel, you could PM Heather at PlaymoDB about the pictures and she can tell you the best way to get them on her website, thanks again for taking the time to do this and for thinking about PlaymoDB for pictures. If you have any problems let me know and I will help as best I can.

Thank you Antonio and Miguel for providing the pictures between you; it is much appreciated.  And what two marvellous sets they are!  Wonderful, wonderful!  As you say, Gepetto, looking at other themes is always dangerous!  If I had the space to have it down and ready to run at any time, I would have a train set.  (Actually, for a time I did, sort of.  I bought an ex-display 4005 set, well, just the engine and two carriages, but I never got round to tracking down rails and controls before selling it to a good home with, if I remember correctly, Michael Layland and his outdoor railway.  And recently, I bought three lengths of track, a set of buffers and a tank wagon off eBay.de for a fire brigade scene I have in mind.)

Thanks to all - I'm always interested to learn new information!  By email is the best way to send things to me. The address is at the bottom of every PlaymoDB page - playmodb@gmail.com . Looking forward to updating the database so everyone can find the pictures easily.

Perfect!  As long as I can read the numbers, that will be fine - I expect most of the part-pictures are already in the database, since they belong to other trains as well.
