I've searched in the wikipedia and in google images, and found nothing ...

Hm, interesting combination: the middle looks like the coat of arms (or flag) of sweden, but they use a yellow cross and not a white one. Maybe an annicient swedish sea flag (sea flags sometimes be different than the national flag).

I saw something like that flag at the the flags of the world web site( http://flagspot.net/flags/fr~mon.html )... could it be a simplified design of this French civil ensign?

Uh, yes seems that you're right. Looking closer to the flag those seems not to be crowns but more like the french lile on the flag you showed. Well investigated.

I ordered a few of these from the parts department and am using them for my French troops and ships.
