Hello Everyone,
On Tuesday, March 10th at 1240 hours Playmobil Fire Crews from Station 2 (airport) were notified by the control tower (Playmobil Regional Airport) of a small plane that had possibly crashed on runway 25.
CR1 (ARFF unit) CR2 (rapid response unit) Engine 2, Squad 3, and Medic 3 were on the run.
CR2 (station 2's Captain) arrived on the scene and advised he had a small plane off the runway with the pilot out.
-
Within minutes, the slow but powerful CR1 arrived on scene. Crews deployed a hoseline and secured the aircraft.
-
Crews found that the aircraft's brakes had locked up causing the plane to off the runway.
-
Engine 2 and the Squad staged at the scene in case more tools or foam would be needed.
-
When crews were done with the incident the photographer talked them into showing off the crash truck. :-[
-
The rescue units are staffed by members of engine and ladder 2, there is 1 firefighter permanently assigned to CR1.
Crashes at Playmobil Regional Airport are rare, but units do get called to emergencies. In these pictures, units are staged at the taxiway for an inbound aircraft with a cabin smoke warning on.
-
Also new to the fleet is a re-painted SUV for the Chief.
-
Alright, that's it for now. I hope everyone enjoyed the pictures. I was able to take them at the local state park, at the R/C landing strip. ;)

Great story, Ben, thank you, and excellent photos. I agree with Bill, the outside approach is really different and gives a new slant on things.
Are we going to get some more detailed photos of those new machines?
-
Thanks guys for the compliments. I certainly had fun taking these pictures.
Gordon - I may work on some pictures for the custom page tonight.

Thanks for the photos FireChief, it is always so nice to see this equipment in context. The outdoors does lend a very different feel, but only if you can stage the scene correctly and you are very adept at doing so. Thank you again.

Yes, and very well choosen perspective for taking the photos so the environment fits quite well to the Playmobil setup.

I noticed that too Peter! It will be silver in color I believe! If you get the set before it is available to us in the USA, would you please take some pictures of it, & post them on the product review board here?

Hello Ben,
I don't really think there is anything I can say that would do your story's justice :wow:. I have allways been a great fan of your work from the very first time you started posting and you never fail to inspire me. I am truly in awe of your little off road crash truck (CR1). I can't put it into words but you have captured a certain 'look' that I really like. It has a certain 1960's vintage to it that I am a really big fan of. I can't wait to see some more pictures of this little vehicle.
I would be really greatfull if you would allow me to borrow your design for my own airport fire service :wow:. I would give you the credit for the design if it featured in any of my photo stories :yup: :)
Kindest Regards Tim.

Thanks for the great compliments, Tim. Believe it or not, I was actually trying to get a 60's or 70's look when I made it.
I will post some pictures today and let you know how I made it. It was pretty easy. Your fire service can use the design as much as they would like. ;D
