Great looking sets and "Must have's" for me as-well . It looks like the water buffalo and hyenas sets are at the end of the water line. I hope you can get more and just keep adding them to make a long creek .

I still can not tell if the Ostrich legs are just not there or do they fold under ?

I do like the 4 seater jeep for the safari.

Thanks for the better pictures  :wow:

Thanks for the great pics. I just love the animals created by geobra so why do they have to torture me with those when space is an issue. Surely to great to pass on.

Actually, the do indeed line up to form one long creek. It was shown on a image somewhere (I can't really remember where  :()

I think it looks as if the Ostrich legs just aren't there, I'm afraid - the same way the do it with all roosting birds .

Thanks for the pics and the information.  Although I don't see myself collecting this theme, I may purchase the river base components from direct service to use as an African oasis.

What an excellent idea! I can use them with my Roman fort.

Thanks for the pics  :D

Beneath the new animals there also seems to be some new other items/pieces: the green vest in the 4833 and is this a new leg mould in 4834 with attached pockets at the side?

Thanks for the pics and the information.  Although I don't see myself collecting this theme, I may purchase the river base components from direct service to use as an African oasis.

Great idea, I think this will look also nice in the Egypts theme ...

Those new animals look great and are very welcome additions to Geobra's wildlife kingdom.  8-)

I'm already imagining a pair of those bright pink flamingos (#4827) on the lawn in front of a house in Playmosuburbia.
Very retro-chic! :D

That is a fabulous idea, Sylvia!  There was quite a  funny story involving pink plastic flamingos (http://www.thebostonchannel.com/news/2213958/detail.html) a few years back that took place in a neighborhood near where I live.  Sadly, however, the pink plastic flamingo has recently met its demise.  (http://www.sun-sentinel.com/features/home/sfl-hg20flamingooct20,0,2739018.story)  :'(

I can't wait to see it, Gepetto!  I'll be using the oasis with my Egyptians, Arabians, and Romans.

Thank you, cachalote, for the GREAT pictures!

To echo some of our other Playmofriends, "Yes, the African theme is a definite must have!"

And, thanks, cachalote, for helping Timmy to see the correct mountain ...  ;D

Anne, I was sorry to read about the pink plastic flamingo's demise. However, I'm sure that they will once again return to grace many American lawns in their old tasteless way ... ;)

The attached photo shows (if you look carefully) our two pink plastic flamingos that lived by our pool in Houston.
(I think that we still have them somewhere.) ...  ;D

Thanks again everyone and all the best,
Richard

all this flamingo story made me remember seeing them when i was a kid, sailing with my uncle in tejo river, in lisbon, on the south of portugal.  :)
they are really not that exotic for me but the african-european kind that i was used to see is not as pink as the florida one...
thay look equally funny flying though (see picture)

The whole African series looks great. Thats a new Rhino and I suspect the adult giraffe may be a new version too.

Thanks for the links to the news stories, Anne. :) It is quite sad that they are no longer being made - the end of an era. :(

Lovely photo! They fit in really well with the landscaping. :)

I've never seen any "garden flamingos" in the UK (must be too cold for them here! ;)), but I'm pretty sure that some friends of my parents in Australia had one or two in the seventies. I can't remember if they were considered tacky or fashionable at the time. :P

WOW!

BEEEEEAUTIFOLL!

I still have to get old crocodiles and hyppos ...
Now, there's the ostriches I've got to have! (have a crush on each of these animals  ...)

It'll take a time, though. New business must make a lot of profit :-\ :-[

That's a wonderful collection!

My wish for list just doesn't seem to get any shorter. I suspect that it's getting longer each year, as I just don't have the means to buy all the sets that I like. And I don't even like all the sets that come out each year.

Again these are sets which I would really like as well.

I ordered a pink flamingo just yesterday at "The Bistro" corner bar.
It was a little over-sweetened, but imbibable enough.

Just one ? light weight  ;D I know what you mean about the sweetness, they over do it sometimes but it must be the diet that makes them like that  ;)

There appear to be two suns glowing through the hazy azure in the background.

Or is it one sun blocked by Mt Fuji?

-Tim
Title: Re: 2009 new african park
Post by: cachalote on January 30, 2009, 02:02:30
the 2 suns are quite logical in africa timotheos - one is from the northern emisphere and the other one for the southern one.  ;D
if you had a better geographical culture you would know that the 2 suns travel so high in the sky in africa (the southern one being upside down, of course, just like the emisphere) that not even mount fuji, in the quite near japan (it is understandable that you mistook it for kilimanjaro) could block them.  :yup:
as the klickies in the picture are standing upright, they must still be in the northern emisphere - or else they would have to be upside down - although i guess, for the quite symmetrical glares they produce in the picture, they should be quite near the equator.

Heh, yeah, I'm just clowning around.  I've gone half-way up Mt Fuji, so know it isn't in Africa.

On the serious side, the torii in the background of the Mandarin Prince/Ninja blister pack amuses me.

Considering the ninja's chinese clothing, and the mandarin prince's obvious association with China, the use of a Japanese torii in the background stirs my mirth.
