I'd like to know what Vikings are in the blister pack.
-
Thanks for the info, Rasputin :yup:
I think I will scoot over there this afternoon.
Best regards,

Here is one more Picture . Nothing too exciting but a great way to expand armies .
Is it just me or is it odd that the Asians were listed under the "Adventure" theme
(http://img57.imageshack.us/img57/1077/5850ct2.jpg)
still looking for the other two pictures

Aieee! i AM CALLING MY TARGET STORE EVEN AS I READ THIS POST.
Ahem, thank you for this information Rasputin, much appreciated.

Well, no new blisters but I picked up a couple of 4444's knocked down to $11.88, so a good trip. Now the waiting begins :prays:

Darn, just a couple weeks too late for me to get them in person.
I'm guessing they've stuck the Mandarin & Ninja in Adventure because they don't fit anywhere else (yet). Nice and unusual set, and that katana is a much sought after item.
Does that Gold knight have a gold body too? Can't quite tell from the photo, but it looks like it. He makes a good fantasy knight.
-
Oooh Asians! I doubt they'll be released in Belgium :(
-
Rasputin,
Have you actually seen these new blisters at Target or are these someone else's photos?
I hope this is not like those Santa Claus/Elf blisters that never quite materialized. :crossed:

They are somebody else's pics form Playmoboard named Jeff ( Northern VA ) . Our local Target has now clearanced the stuff they did not want ( pirate Box $20 ) and the rest went to its new location . The New location was downsized, but if i remember correctly this is common after the new year . The spot had all the Blisters on hangers, about 6 and shelf space below for about 4 or 5 sets ( nothing new ). The east coast and central US get them first as they are closer to New Jersey and we get them a month or two later . The santa blisters never came to our targets but our local brick and mortar shop had them for 50ยข more .
Our target Playmobil sales did well again and very little is left . Out Toys R Us has a lot of sets left and i am hopping they get discounted soon . I was a bit disappointed that it did not sell as well as needed as TRU was giving Playmobil so much shelf space and a center display for the circus. TRU seems to get a different client-el in our area so it is not surprising , just disappointing .

Oh Wow! The Manchu prince and the Chinese merchant in black have been re-released! I've been waiting for these. But, you say, Ras, you haven't seen them at your local Target? Maybe I'll hold off running to the store...

and that katana is a much sought after item.
Nihonto (Japanese sword) may be the more accurate term.
Considering the sword could very well be depicting an Odachi. Can we demonstrate that the length of the blade is not greater than 3 shaku (about one meter)? Otherwise the sword is definitely odachi.
Heh, joking.
I'm still waiting for PM to release its Ninja Family.
Edit:
Why does PM's "Japanese ninja" wear a chinese jacket and red boots? Japanese dress tended not to fasten at the shoulder like that. And, why the Fu Manchu mustache? Where's the hood for the ninja?
Answer: it's not a ninja...
Maybe a Chinese kung fu teacher...
-
You know tim that is the first thing my wife asked also ( where is the Ninja Hood ) So i guess calling him a Kung Fu Warrior or teacher is more accurate
But just to tick you, lets keep calling him a Ninja and then Playmobil will make a whole bunch of them ( Ninja Families ) :P

Our Target has rearranged their shelves this way also, the blisters are higher and they will be able to display more at a time, I wonder if they will focus more on these now that they don't need the shelf space.

Wow, they even have authentic viking helmets! :D :D
Thanks for the photos Rasputin!

I do not know what to think of the Vikings or the police/fire Blisters. The vikings could have been an old special and have had some great customizing parts like the 4519, 4599, or the 4540. Their parts and colors are just so much more useful than this Purple get up this guy has on or his wolf clan looking mate.
The Fireman looks like the new US version and does not fit anything i have ( especially since i returned the US truck ) . I guess he is similar to the one of the older ones except he has on that new colored jacket on. He did not even get any fire equipment ( a fire extinguisher or something ) . The police man i just can not figure out his attire from the picture . It looks like he has a dark blue shirt with a light blue tee shirt then black pants and what is that on his groin area ? It makes his legs look shorter than they are .
The Asians i am more than happy about and will be getting a lot of ( others are already asking me to ship them overseas ) and the Knights have a lot of great potential as they are and for the parts so i guess 2 good and 2 ok strange ones is a wash for the new blisters
-
The fireman has a bullhorn and a traffic flag and I think that is supposed to be a belt on the policeman. I also agree with you as far as the other figures are concerned (purple, ugh), I just hope they come out soon.
Gepetto
-
The traffic flag said police on it and if you are directing traffic a bull horn comes in handy leaving nothing but gloves for the fireman .
-
Boy, you're right! That is a pretty poor deal for the fireman, unless he uses the bullhorn to tell people to pay attention to the policeman!

Wow, they even have authentic viking helmets! :D :D
Ha, you're joking, right, Gepetto?
Well, it is definitely better than getting more of that "bear-head" barbutte helmet.
(vikings [ie. Danes, Norse, and Swedes apparently didn't wear horns on their helms, but the conical helmet with the noseguard (minus the horns) is not bad for the times)
My disappointment is that the purple-and-white striped shirt Viking is so blasted common already... I'd like one of the guys with the red or yellow hood or that fur-vested guy (even though he's pretty common, too).
To Ras:
Yeah, good for your wife to ask questions about that phony of a ninja! He's a Chinese tea-shop owner!
-
The Viking blister pack is an easy, inexpensive way to supplement your Viking/Barbarian/Medieval army, but I wish Playmobil had used the klickies from Specials 4519 and 4540 instead, as they are hard to come by, especially the former.
-
Yes Tim I was joking, but you are right in that they are better than those cursed "bear-heads" or the ones with the bull horns. I can live with the purple pants in that they are good filler figures and have a decent amount of bits for the buck.

Thanks Rasputin for alerting us that Target has the new blister packs. Orlando has them and I have bought mine! Some of everything. I liked the comment about the tea shop owner, good idea .

Hi Justin, you're right, those figures do look good. And, I don't have either of them.

Hi Janice, yeah, a tea shop owner might even wear black to give his shop more atmosphere. The stick he has may be to chase cats away from the side alley.

The vikings look good to me (besides the horn problem, that has been noticed, and will, whenever it comes up ... At least by the more criterious guys, like me 8} ).
I hope to get them. Blisters have been reaching Brasil. I've got that Roman, with a gladiator. As well as those pirates Martin sent me, that I converted into my character Hugo! :) I've seen them around. Actually, I got one of them, as a Christmas gift, from a work mate, of my last job ... (I just changed jobs, from December to January ...)
And there's a policeman & thief blister walking around, as well, which I didn't put hands on, 'cause I'm more in historical playmo' ... ;D
Nice to see those vikings! I'll pay attention at the stores.
Thanks for sharing the pics, Raz.
