By the way Richard thanks for the reply in the 2008 catalogue thread.

Thanks Andi,
That Archer is great! I guess it is good to have the lead time to start putting funds aside for these sets. Do many of you pre-order or wait for the sets to come out first?

By the way Richard thanks for the reply in the 2008 catalogue thread.
You're welcome!

Well ... he is nice, but I definitly wouldn't want one ...
Otherwise it would remind me the whole time there's another 6 months or more before I can lay my hands on the others :o :o
Now that would be hell !!! >:D

I'll take a dozen
Is the gold bow authentic, or just a bit of Playmobil fantasy? It doesn't seem very practical even if it's only gold leaf (which would surely rapidly wear off); more like something to put in a tomb as grave goods.
I'd like to know how his quiver is attached - he doesn't seem to have the standard belt with rear nubbin, as used on knight figures, so does his shoulderpiece have an attachment point?
Lovely gold bracer on the left arm!

Good question, Martin ...
I wonder if it's connected like the holster on the police figure?
All the best,
Richard

If my memory serves me rigth there is a Egyptian wall painting depicting a Pharao with a handbow. Allthough it is a short bow and not a long bow as this one.

wrong ... I found a different image in wich the Pharao is holding a large bow while standing on a chariot....
as to the question of truly Golden bows - I don't know ... I did find however that the ancient Egyptians knew how to make composite bows. So it wouldn't be unthinkable of creating one ...

LHAAP's link shows that it is, good call! That's actually a much more sensible place for a quiver to be, where you can easily reach for fresh arrows.
The only problem is that children tend to break these off, as some eBayed figures show. Not aproblem for careful adult owners though.
I see the figure's robes also project forward more than the regular skirted legs.

Thanks for the link, LHAAP ...
It was as I suspected ... similar to the police holster connection!
Thanks again and all the best,
Richard

Thanks for posting these great pictures, Andi ...

Wow, that is a great klicky! I want one (dozen! LOL) as well.
I like the way the quiver attaches. I'd like to see some pirates/navy klickies with scabbards in that style as well. That would be great.
-
I would love to have that bookmark...
btw. Mrs.Kupiak from Playmobil donated three of the give-away-egyptians
for a lottery at klickywelt... For all people registered there as well, I will
keep you updated how to participate...

I'd like that too, on the left hip for swords, right for quivers, but with a couple of reservations.
1) they would have to make replacement connectors available on DS, for when they get pulled off - I have several Police figures off eBay with missing holsters, so children clearly do this quite a lot.
2) a sword in a hip scabbard would prevent riding on a caparisoned horse, and might interfere with a long cloak, so they'd have to still use the sword belt for some figures.

Thats, a nice looking figure,
I guess I will have to keep watching Ebay to get hold of one of them.
