daniel from klickywelt :wow: discovered this new sets in a catalogue for 2008.
the images are not that great (no visible serial numbers).
there seems to be also 2 new "susprise" sets with no images ???.
apparently, these will be out in april / july 2008.
:'(no pirates, unfortunately... (only a little musqueteer)
-
:omaybe the biggest newcomer is this undewater set.
the manta-ray should be great.
the sperm-whale (english name for portuguese "cachalote") leaves me with happiness tears in my eyes...
:'(
-
Thanks, Cachalote ...
That exploration trawler looks pretty cool too!
Playmobil just keeps producing some really incredible toys.
All the new fish and animals should make Tim (Tiermann) very happy!
Thanks again and all the best,
Richard
-
Thanks cachalote. I see there's a fireman amongst the Specials so maybe that means there will also be other fire sets in 2008. :)
-
The warrior with the bison headdress looks better than PM's usual fantasy barbarians.
The new open Santa sack is interesting
I like the fairy's red turban hat.
The musketeer is not bad. But, cough cough, somebody tell PM those guys were called musketeers because they carried muskets....
Where do klickywelt forum members find these un-released catalogs?
-Tim
EDIT: Oh, I have to get that whale! I wonder if it can swallow klickies?
-
I think that barbarian is sopposed to be a germanic chieftain....*prays to odin for a germanic theme to kick the romans cute rear ends*
-
You forgot the most important picture of the group. I LOVE the church!!!
-
Hello, Hoppatussa ...
You forgot the most important picture of the group. I LOVE the church!!!
If this is the church that you mentioned ... I agree. It's beautiful!
(Too bad that it's not compatible with the pavillion) ... :(
please see attachment
-
Wow, the veil of the bride looks beautiful. And finally we get a priest (so I can delete him from my customizing list ;D)
Pretty cool.
The church is really perfect: not to old styled and not to modern, right perfect for my personal taste. Great job Playmobil!
Have to check out the German sites if there are some further new announcements ...
Oh, and just the article lead my attention to the pavillion in the pic above: there is a white grand piano!
-
Huh, for some reason my picture didn't work.. thanks for posting it Richard! Nice eye for spotting the piano Little Jo... can't wait to see better pictures of the sets.

Huh, for some reason my picture didn't work.. thanks for posting it Richard! Nice eye for spotting the piano Little Jo... can't wait to see better pictures of the sets.
You are very welcome, Hopputussa ...
Happy to be able to help out!
And, yes ... Jochen has very "nice eyes" ... ;) ;D
(My own stupid "jokes" really do crack me up!) ... :yup:
All the best,
Richard
-
Is there any more pics from the catalogue?
-
Wow the church is exquisite! After I kick out the modernites, it will look passable for my medieval village.
Since PM is showing it isn't afraid to wrestle with religion, maybe the medieval monk will come back.
-
There are some really nice pieces there for next year.
I like the sea explorer sets in particular the boat with the mini sub. The boat also looks just like a few of the last remaining Fishing trawlers I see in Grimsby dock.
I wonder if the new barbarian looking figure is a Gaul chieften to go with the sets available from DS Germany, there could be other sets on the way.
The Church is a rather odd theme to create but it does look a really nice building and Dawn is very interested in the brides dress. Turning the airport taxi into a wedding car is a strange choice I would rather of seen the old Victorian car with a canvas type roof in red added to make it appear like a Rolls Royce in either white or silver.
-
OMG!
I'm in shock. :o
I absolutely adore that church!!! The stained glass windows and pews look beautiful
And I can't wait to see the white grand piano in detail. How cool is that?! :yup:
The new sea animals are awesome, and I'm pleased to see a new fairy will soon become available too! If I'm not mistaken, she appears to have pink hair! :D :D :D
:o
the sperm-whale (english name for portuguese "cachalote") leaves me with happiness tears in my eyes...
:'(
I always wondered whether cachalote meant something in Portuguese. You will eventually be able to change your avatar to a Playmobil sperm whale pic to match the name. ;D
Thank you so much for posting the news and the catalogue pics here! :)
-
i think i will keep my avatar sylvia. :P
the cachalote (serm-whale) is one of my favourite animals.
although i wasn't yet able to dive alongside one (they are quite shy and dive instantly when i try to get too close) i think i look a bit like them - overweighted and with only one functional nostrel (in both cases the left one).
maybe some custom-artist will be able to build a moby-dick scenario with this new animal. ;)
there are ships to build a pequod, figures to build captain ahab, ismael, queequeq and the rest of the crew.
there are parts resembling harpoons and now, with the new 4444 set, there are boats capable of hunting white sperm-whales (http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=1802.0).
could it be that playmobil has some herman melville fan working on their design department? ???
-
Wow, the veil of the bride looks beautiful. And finally we get a priest (so I can delete him from my customizing list ;D)
I'm a little disappointed in that priest, the white collar they've used doesn't look much like a priest's dog collar to me. I think they could have done better (and I'm sure Playmo-customisers will.
Like Tim, I may well get a church to add to my medieval theme.
I like the 2-man underwater sub.
-
o.k., here it goes, big pictures form the new sets.

Thanks, Cachalote !
Muito Obrigado !
-
Yes, cachalote, many thanks for all your work in posting the pictures for us. It is very good of you and much appreciated. :wow: :wow: :wow:
-
Thank you so much for all of your hardwork Cachalote I for one really appreciate it :wow:
Back in summer I mentioned that I would like to see an updated Fishing Trawler and then one turns up. Looks like somebody must be reading our forum. I can see some long hot soaks in the bath next year. Just hope my leg is not as appealing as Ahab's :yup:
Regards Craig
-
many thanks cachalote for posting these pics....the new sets are awesome and guarantee 2 things. firstly that i will be permanently broke next year and secondly, that i am going to have to get a bigger playmobil room!! 8}
also, the translation seems to suggest 2 action sets for the summer months which will be at an excellent price and limited edition.

I wonder if "action" means firefighting?
-
I wonder why the new Santa needs a stick? Is this to beat the naughty boys and girls with, or more innocently to help ram the toys into his toysack?
-
Thank you very much, Cachalote, for posting pictures
of the new sets.
I think the church is a great addition, and the underwater sets
are awesome.
Thanks again :wow:
Best regards,
Jimbo
-
Hooray for cachalote! Thanks for keeping us up-to-date. I've got the new sets put in the database, and the pictures will follow when I get the crops done.
Here they are: New sets at PlaymoDB (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/your_set_list.pl?setlist=4296,4297,4298,4299,4307,4308,4309,4675,4676,4677,4678,4679,4680,4469,4473,4478,4479,4488,4489,4500)
-
I've got the new sets put in the database ...
You are INCREDIBLE, Heather! ... :wow:
-
all thanks should be kept for klickywelt's daniel, the guy that actually first published all these images. :wow:
in the same forum someone pointed out a shape in new surprise playmobil action sets.
if i am not mistaken, the scale of the set is rather small and it contains a pirate (the circle points the shape of his head and hat, the new "open-tip" model).
but maybe i tend to see pirates everywhere and playmofire will see a firefighter... ???
-
these sets are awesome!!!
Can the spermwhale be fitted with an underwater motor???? nahhh i guess it must be for the inflatable boat.
-
It's amusing that they put a bride & groom in each of 4 different wedding theme sets, so if you buy all the sets in the series you get a quadruple wedding. At least the bride & groom figures are different each time.
I think it'd be better to just have the one small set with a bride & groom (4298) but replace them with the bride's parents (in 4297), the groom's best man & ushers (in 4307, tying cans on the car), bridesmaids (in 4296) or similar figures for the bigger sets.
Oh, and I'd missed the yellow 4479 deep diver - another one I'll have to send to my sea-roving brother-in-law.

Your idea would definitely work better for those collectors who plan to buy all of the sets.
It does seem a little odd to have so many different wedding couples, but I guess it's so that kids can hold more than one wedding in their church. They would get bored marrying the same couple over and over. ;)
I also thought the bride in the car set looked slightly more casual, almost as though she had changed into her post-wedding reception outfit, ready for the honeymoon. It's nice that they have created a few different styles of wedding attire, in any case. The floral headpiece is so pretty!
I really hope that Playmobil will expand on this theme rather than discontinue it after a short time.
I can see the potential for a beautiful christening set - mum, dad, baby, priest and a font. :D
And what about a funeral set... hearse, coffin, mourners, etc? ;D Yeah.. dream on, Sylvia.

Now if the brides were all different, but the groom the same in each set, that would be amusing!

Hello, Sylvia ...

How macabre ... :hmm:
Why not a funeral home complete with undertakers and a morgue? And, how about a cold table where we could embalm our little klickies before we cremate them in our Playmobil oven? 8}
Sounds like great fun, Sylvia ... ::)
You're correct, Sylvia, Playmobil should "expand" this theme ... ;D
All the best,

I am half way there but thats just me, each to their own at the end of the day :) They fit in with my chosen themes so they get a place in my collection like everything else ;) I really cant wait to get hold of the Vicar, he will be quite usefull indeed :evilplan:.

Oops. That's my dark side showing. :-[
I'm not always sweetness and light. Just 99% of the time. ;D
No... seriously... I wasn't being intentionally macabre. ;)
I was actually thinking of how my kids play with their klickies - my daughter Tonia, in particular.
She likes to copy everything that she sees happening in real life - not just the happy things, sometimes sad things too. Death is as much a part of everyday life as anything else, so I wouldn't think it strange at all if my children were pretending one of their Playmo characters had died and they held a burial service.
Hmmm... perhaps my kids just aren't normal. :P

I think that's perfectly healthy and normal. The trend towards wrapping kids in cotton wool and not letting them experience the darker side of life just results in them not coping so well when bad or sad things do occur.
I like the doctor's surgery and dental surgey for the opportunity to roleplay these less pleasant situations, and make them less scary. The unknown is always the worst part.

I can breath a sigh of releif now that i am safe in the knowlege i am not the only one interested in the 'sad' side of things as well as the 'happy' side :yup: I must confess when my Granddad died i made a funeral car out of Lego :yup:. I was only young, probably about 9 years old, it helped me cope with his death or at least that aspect of his death. I guess i was trying to put on a brave face deep down, trying to be grown up or to show my Mom she didnt have to worry about me not being able to cope.
So yes i have allways been interested in the more 'macabre' side of things. This is why i decided to make my towns undertakers. Unfortunatley or fortunatley i havent made a funeral home. I have however converted an Ambulance specially for collecting dead klickies. I posted these pictures in my own Gallery so as not to offend those of a sensitive nature. I made it for a specific reason but its too long winded for this thread. Suffice to say i felt i needed this vehicle to complete part of my collection so i made it .

well living in a heavy wine agricultural community it is nice to see the wine or Champaign in the sets 4306 & 4297. i have no idea if these were used before as i do not collect the doll sets but now that these are out it might have to change.
I also was wondereing why santa needs such a large stick but also why does it look like the fireman has a cowboy rope ?

You make me miss living in Livermore, California. It wasn't Tuscany, but the wine was good enough to get you through the evening. Shortcuts home through the vineyards...
===================
Santa with a stick must be a German thing. American Santa's only accessory is a sack and a hat.

Hello, Tim (Tiermann) ...
Set 5344 was labeled "Fleischer" by Playmobil for the German market. By the time it crossed the Atlantic it had become a "Pet Shop" for the American market! (However, you probably already knew that!) ... :P
All the best,
Richard
Edit: corrected spelling error

It's meant to be a search and rescue line. However, the grey string and acouple of the handholds as used with the grappling line on the pirate ships would be better. I very carefully drilled out the inside of one of the handholds so that it was possible to coil a length of string through it and then the klicky could hold it. I'll find it and do a pic of it to show clearly what I mean.

Nope, that's just being presumptuous ;). I for one am not a fan of this set...

what that sets needs is some of the 30 22 5460 roasted ducks and the 30 89 5562 roasted turkeys hanging on a rack .. mmmmm, then maybe some bread under to catch all the drippings
-
meanwhile, here are the expected prices for these new sets (thanks to ikeama from klickywelt.de). :wow:

Ouch! I see what you mean.
I dread to think how much that church will cost once it's available in the UK. :-\
Relieved to see the cost of the grand piano set seems quite reasonable.
Thank you, ikeama and cachalote for the price list. :)

Maybe it's me - but I find these prices rather reasonable ...
If only they would remain priced like that ...

There is no question at all about what that PlayBig set is supposed to be, Rob ...
It is definitely not a "pet shop" ... :o
Thanks for showing us that other toy companies have also exposed our children to the "dark side" of our food preferences.
Playmobil has "cleaned up" the new System-X grocery store and "packaged" all of their meat products (just like in today's real life) ...
please see attachment
Our adult daughter is certainly old enough and intelligent enough to know where hamburgers really come from. However, if you ask her she will still tell you what she has always wanted to believe ever since she was a lttle girl, "They grow on trees!" ... ;)
Maybe, many of us also want to believe (like our daughter) that we really don't harm any of our animal friends just to satisfy our hunger ... 8}

Maybe, many of us also want to believe (like our daughter) that we really don't harm any of our animal friends just to satisfy our hunger ... 8}
When I eat at restaurants in China, a lot of the food (like chicken, duck, pigeon, and fish) arrives with the head still attached. It's supposed to be evidence of freshness, though I don't understand why a sneakster couldn't serve a duck pulled from the freezer with still head attached...
Shrimp with the head still attached can be a little tedious to eat. Though if you've had enough beers, eating the entire bug is not so big of a problem. Once in Hong Kong, the party I was with ordered a plate stacked with pigeon heads. The task: you crack the skull with your teeth and extract the brain, without dropping your chopsticks!
As for the playmobil toys, I think they'd be good education for children. My dad grew up in a village and participated in the slaughter of the dinner pig. People didn't get all sentimental about it in those days. Ironicly, I think when you see it all the time, it bothers you less than when you're sheltered from it.
Though with today's food technology, we could easily go vegetarian and not even notice. I survived in India for three weeks off purely vegetarian dishes and even gained weight. The problem on this side of the pond is that our cuisine is so meat-oriented we don't know how to make proper vegetarian dishes unless it's a salad, or something equally unsatisfying to live off longterm.

No, I don't think so that they are already available in Germany -- they are even not announced on Playmobil.de and status indicator of the site referenced above says only that the items are ordered (but not on stock). Additional the title of this page is "New April"; another indicator that these can not be obtained before April. -- I do not know of any set sold before announced officially on the Playmobil Web site.
Nevertheless the link provides a nice overview of the new sets and it should be kept in mind due price comparision as soon as the items are available in our big department stores, like Karstadt, Kaufhof, real, Müller, etc. So thank you for moving to our attention.

hello, can someone please send me a link for the new catalogue?? Cannot find it anywhere and soooo need to see the church and sea animals! :o

Hello, Suzi ...
Click HERE (http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=1805.0) for pictures ...
It appears that someone must have gotten hold of a dealers' catalog, as the new consumer catalog doesn't seem to be out yet.
Hope this helps.

And what about a funeral set... hearse, coffin, mourners, etc? Yeah.. dream on, Sylvia.
Sylvia, use the glass coffin from the Nursery story themes! Looks great in a military setting with full honor guard! SQ :)

Got that, thanks Richard, all look super!!!!
