Title: Les Dernières Heures de Jesus en Playmobil
Post by: JLMatterer on April 14, 2017, 11:37:39
Three Valaisans are at the origin of this work that captivates young and old. To discover at the old Museum of the Bishopric of Zion. http://www.lematin.ch/suisse/Les-dernieres-heures-de-Jesus-en-Playmobil/story/21862091 (http://www.lematin.ch/suisse/Les-dernieres-heures-de-Jesus-en-Playmobil/story/21862091)

I guess I am the only one who feels these images don't belong here, or any near playmobil. Incredibly violent and bad taste, imo.

Bad taste? This is the only Playmobil Crucifixion in which the arms AREN'T melted and bent in contravention of geobra policy! You should be praising it!

Crucifixion is extremely bad taste in playmo (or in most other settings, most likely). As are any other explicit violent scenes (with playmobil, I mean).

So you are against the gladiator arena and all the other violent sets (hundreds)?

No. The arena as it is shown in the box no... If there was a bloodbath depicted... Meh.

They're depicted fighting on the box. Shedding blood for the amusement of spectators and spectatrices.

Fight is different from torture, no?

But hey, if people feel it's fine (I mean people who find other little things objectionable) - and they obviously do, for some reason, not my business.  Hopefully it will stop after these days.

Strange world indeed, like Martin says.

Here's a picture you'll like: some Christians about to be murdered in the arena!

Not really my thing. However, do note they are ABOUT to be eaten. Not actually BEING eaten. World of difference there.

Well the Jesus klicky is not actually being crucified. In reality it's a little piece of plastic on a stick. No blood!

Did you miss what I said? AS in being vs. about to be?

But seriously, whatever.  I just don't get it (or maybe I do), but there are plenty of other stuff I'll never understand, so...

(and we're probably way way ot  :-[ )

But it isn't "being". It's just little children's toys.

Your 2015 Xmas dio included a klicky being splattered by a falling present. A close up of the victim is still available on your site. Great picture too and it shows there is room for all sorts of behaviour with our little people without it promoting real life violence.

I have mixed feelings about it.
For starters, the setting is clearly medieval... so I guess it is a "staging" of a crucifixion and the last hours of Jesus... as in a medieval Easter or something like that? Confusing ....

Secondly, I don't find it gruesome, but I do think these kind of topics are borderline, as they are, after all, of a religious nature, that shouldn't be in the forum, only because it could lead to unpleasant discussions.

As a diorama per se, it is impressive though. I do like the general design and construction a lot.

It was done in a cartoonish way (you know, all popped!). AND he was fine - after being airlifted, spending a long time in hospital... AND he did get a Porsche out of it...

I don't think it compares. But it may be a matter of opinion.

Religion really doesn't belong with playmobil. If geobra could stop the propaganda, would be a great start.

As to the "borderline", considering the things that get/don't get censored here, I have no idea of what the limits are.   ???

True. Apart from that, it's great.  :)

Hm, what is the fastest selling klicky of all time?  :eh?:

The sad state of the world, yes. Maybe a kkk one or a bloody zombie would sell in droves. Does that mean they should make them?

They already have zombies I believe. And equating Luther with the KKK is unhinged.

Playmobil's strength (imho) is being cultural, and religion fits right in with that. Nativity sets, crusaders, Christmas, etc. - perfect fits.

I meant stuff that does not belong with playmo - imo.  The "zombies" they have are not bloody... different. Again, imo.

Well.. opinions, right? Not mine.

Seeing as Playmodb lists no fewer than 93 sets in the Christmas theme alone, I don't see how any reasonable case could be made that such sets aren't properly part of Playmobil. It's like thinking pirates aren't an appropriate theme.

I said they SHOULD not be. I know they are.   :(

But hey, on the bright side, where are we gonna get nice wings and peasants and rich merchants, right?  :P

It's all bright side to me, but yeah the Nativity sets are the richest source of Roman commoners.
