Title: Red Turban Chinese Boxers
Post by: cheng on August 29, 2016, 10:02:04
The Chinese Boxers were combatants from spiritual and social nationalistic movement against Christianity and the foreign imperialism in the late 19th century in China.
Boxer Uprising or Rebellion eventually erupted into an open arm conflict in 1899-1901 until they were brutally suppressed by foreign forces from seven nations.

Is this a further set of Boxer customs, cheng?  I thought you had made some already?

I remember that my grandmother had book called something like "The Century in Pictures". covering the period 1900-1936 or so.  It had photographs of the Boxer Uprising on Rebellion in it and I could never work how what this was to do with people such as Sugar Ray Robinson or Rocky Marciano, as these were the only boxers I'd come across

I love those hennin voiles used as flags, cheng! And the Boxers look great (even without their gloves!).

you're right, Gordon! I made these Boxers years back but just improved on their turbans with these scalps from the playmo red ninjas and also added those what GrahamB (and thanks  ;) ) refer to as "hennin voiles"

(for those wondering why they were dubbed the "Boxers" by western correspondents
after one of the most violent chinese secret societies then (the Righteous and Harmonious Fists).

Gorgeous AND educational.

I am going to type "hennin voiles" now just because I can: HENNIN VOILES.
