Title: Norman Chain Mail
Post by: Warhorse on February 21, 2016, 23:57:48
I have been wanting to make some Normans for a while now, since that is where my family roots come from. But I not been able to make them look like the classic Normans with a full suit of Chain mail. Well I am one step closer now, and think I am on the right track.  ;

Good idea.
The hauberk needs a slit up the front and probably back too. The slit just needs to go from the lower edge up to the waist.

Very nice! Looks very authentic. Thanks for showing.

Do you happen to know whether these chain mail shoulder covers in light grey were ever used in a set? I only know them from one (Maltese) source, and wonder if they ever made it into the shops. Similar parts in dark grey and gold did so (and are recorded in Playmodb (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/textsearch.pl?sortby=description&page=1&text=shoulder+cover%5C%2C+armoured%5C%2C+woven+texture&lang=en/)), and the king in Fi?ures Series 8 wears them in shiny silver, but I cannot recall ever having seen the ones in plain/non-shiny light grey in an actual set.

Best wishes

Thanks for confirming this. I suspect these parts have never been included with a proper set, but I don't know much about promos and regional markets. Has anybody seen them? I repeat the essentials:

Similar parts in dark grey and gold [appear in sets] (and are recorded in Playmodb (http://playmodb.org/cgi-bin/textsearch.pl?sortby=description&page=1&text=shoulder+cover%5C%2C+armoured%5C%2C+woven+texture&lang=en/)), and the king in Fi?ures Series 8 wears them in shiny silver, but I cannot recall ever having seen the ones in plain/non-shiny light grey in an actual set.

Thank you.

You made those chain shoulder pieces look good, well done. They look odd I think on their own. Geobra should do some chain torsos and knight legs in chain since you've shown how effective it would look.
