I slice fur collars so I can make Roman signifers and cornicens etc. without popping the klickies (which I hate doing). Slicing a recent batch, I came across a variation that suggests that PM is aware of this slicing trick and has modified the fur collars to make them easier to slice. Regardez!

Are you sure it's not just a molding error? I've never seen it before - which set?
-
Came in a lot of pirates/barbarians from ebay that weren't identified as to set and looked like customs.
To me it looks too deliberate to be an error. But who knows. Only the Gnomes.
-
the moulding looks too liberate to me too....but are there any evidence in the past that Geobra go to this length to make things easier for customisers? They probably assume most of us can pop klickies at will. And encouraging us to point a knife at their klickies' necks? I've be a hopeful customiser for years...maybe things are changing....I hope.
Perhaps it can be broken with a tug? but its not easy to hold it that firmly when mounted.
Any other theories as to why they make them 'breakable'?
and thanks Macruran....btw I do slice those tight-fitting small collars where they meet under their chins, AFTER popping...they ok nicer to me :P

Definitely a problem with the production, might be one in a million. They don't do this. They use the same mold. I have several strange parts due to some problems in production.
-
A collector's item! Now I'm sad that I cut it.

I'm not sure it is possible to be categorical about this part being a moulding error, did you have only one Macruran? Geobra can and do change the moulds used for parts, sometimes even using the same part number for the new part. The ponytail hair is an example of this:http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=14054.msg258010#msg258010 (http://www.playmofriends.com/forum/index.php?topic=14054.msg258010#msg258010)
There are also examples of parts being changed apparently because the original part interfered with the movement of a klicky's arms.

If that was the case, wouldn't the OTHER side be changed? I mean, it IS a lot longer, and that is the one that prevents the arm movement...
I have no knowledge of this, but I am convinced it's an error. We'll see. If it isn't, they will show up in numbers.

I only had one, out of three fur collars in the batch total.

Whether it is a moulding error or not, it will give more variety to your figures. :)
Do you find that the shoulder harnesses have a greater tendency to slip when you cut the fur pieces though?
-
What do you mean by shoulder harnesses?

These fur pieces have those grooves on them to allow for holding shoulder straps securely in place. If you have a figure with a shoulder strap (like the ones with pegs that you can attach hooks or weapon holders or quivers to), the strap will be held in place very well by the fur pieces. In the picture you posted in the first thread, these grooves can be seen on the right side of each piece.

Oh right I see. I don't use shoulder straps with them. I make signifers and cornicens who wear their swords at their waist belts.

Ah, okay. :)
