I have been watching the dollar and euro conversion and it's close to $1 to €1.17
Has anybody been able to capitalize on this when buying playmo from Germany?

I was watching this as well (it was 1.18 when I looked the other day). I have been considering it to get the new zoo sets from Amazon.de when they become available. Even with added shipping it will still more than likely be cheaper than waiting for the US release.

That is what I was wondering, is it going to get cheaper to buy from Germany, even with shipping. Or is playmo USA actually, incredibly, going to lower their prices?

One would hope that they would lower the prices, but I seriously doubt that it will happen. But then again, I really want the new zoo sets.
But the price that they advertise the Preschool at.... it's 79.99 Euros, which at the current conversion would be just under $94.00... the US site lists it for the price of $107.99 when it comes out here later this year.

Shockingly, the Belgian store Dreamland has the Preschool for € 64,95 (!) and lots of other big sets have a reduced price that is waaaay less than on the Playmobil.be official webshop. The modern luxury villa: € 84,95 (Playmobil: € 138,99), the shopping mall: € 109,00 (Playmobil: € 149,99 €)...
I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that.
I wonder how much the new zoo sets will be, in February.

Wow that is quite a difference!!! Hopefully you'll be able to scoop up the new zoo at such awesome prices.

I've already put in a request to one of our German friends who has graciously agreed to help me get some of the new zoo sets. My next diorama is my zoo, as soon as I get the alpacas.   Now I just need another table.

well, there are some factors to consider.
I work in a bank and thats the price that we have, the exchange rate is 1.1788 (1/14/15)
But, for normal people i think is like 1.25, you will never have the bank prices :(
also you have to consider the cost of the transfer, that for example here in mexico is 10 USD per transfer and i heard that in the US you can get charged with 40 dollars per transfer.
Still, cheaper than paypal, i do buy in germany and the euro is so expensive that i prefer to ask a friend there to transfer the money.
just my 2 cents

I've been looking at Amazon.de, but the few things I looked at had surprisingly higher prices than did the US. I bought a few things that way a few years ago at much better prices, and earlier, so I'll have to wait and see what happens when the brand new stuff is released.
